Adela, a film about the lonely birthday of a grandmother has bagged the title of Best Film of 2008, according to the Film Desk of the Young Critics Circle. Adela (played by Anita Linda) shows a day in the life of a woman who is about to celebrate her 80th birthday. This is Anita's latest movie to feature her in the lead role since her 1998 film Ang Babae Sa Bubungang Lata.The Anita Linda-starrer dominated the YCC Awards when it was chosen as the film with the Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Visual Design, Best Editing, Best Sound and Aural Orchestration, and Best Performance.
Here is the list of films to honored by the YCC during the awarding ceremony scheduled for March 11, 2009. It will tke place at the Conference Hall, Faculty Center, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Quezon City.

Two weeks before the finals of ABS-CBN's Pinoy Fear Factor, rumors has it that the First El Ultimo Participante is...no, not Manuel Chua who is known for his Fear Factor World Records, but the sexy comedy host Janna Dominguez.According to Remate columnist Francis Simeon, he remembered Cristine Reyes saying, "Dapat si Janna nga ang manlibre kasi siya ang winner ng Pinoy Fear Factor," during the presscon of her Kapamilya soap drama Eva Fonda where Janna is also one of the casts.
Cristine laughed after she said it. Janna never said anything but just smiled on Cristine's statement.

Kristine Hermosa will play as Maruja in an upcoming Sineserye on ABS-CBN 2.Aside from Kristine, Maruja will also feature other returning Kapamilya star like John Estrada. Other casts include Gloria Romero, Rafael Rosell, and the new Kapamilya Karylle.
Maruja is Mars Ravelo's immortal love story about two people whose love for each other transcended a century.
Maruja was first adapted into film in 1967 by Lea Productions and it featured Ms. Susan Roces and Romeo Vasquez as Maruja and Gabriel.
In 1996, Viva Films produced a remake of the Maruja films that starred the popular love team of Carmina Villaroel and Rustom Padilla.

Paolo Contis' 'My Dad is Better Than Your Dad' Premieres on February 8
Paolo Contis will host My Dad is Better Than Your Dad which premieres this Sunday, February 8th. It will replace the celebrity edition of Family Feud which is hosted by Richard Gomez.For its pilot telecast, the show will have celebrity contestants. Bobby Andrews with son Miguel, William Martinez with son Adam, Joshua Zamora with son Javen, and Lander Vera-Perez with daughter Reign will compete for the top prize.
The game has four rounds prior to the jackpot:
Ang Daddy Kong Strong will test the dads' energy, resistance, and determination; Ang Daddy Kong Fast needs speed, endurance, and alertness;
Ang Daddy Kong Brave will challenge their agility, mental toughness, and spirit;
Ang Daddy Kong Smart will test their knowledge and awareness.
The jackpot round is quite tricky because it will determine how well they know their kid. It has a series of questions about their kids that should be answered correctly to have a chance to win P100,000.00!
Osama “Sam” Lutfi Sues Britney Spears and Her Parents
Britney Spears’ former manager and friend Osama “Sam” Lutfi recently filed a libel and defamation lawsuit against the singer and her parents.
Britney Spears and Osama Lutfi during their good old daysLutfi’s lawsuit came just three days after a judge granted Spears and her parents a restraining order against Lutfi, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib and a lawyer who the Spears family claim tried to regain control of the singer’s life.
The lawsuit, which does not seek a specific amount, provides pages of Lutfi’s version of events, including his claim that he urged the singer to reconcile with her parents and that he was acting in her best interests.
Spears’ family has contended otherwise. Lynne Spears once accused him of grinding pills into her food to control her, a claim he denies in his lawsuit.
Britney has a resurgent career with a new album and tour planned, both of which have occurred since a court granted her father, Jamie, control over the singer’s personal and financial affairs.
Lutfi’s libel and defamation claims heavily cite Lynne’s recent book, Through the Storm, and says it’s filled with “false statements.”
He claims the Spears’ actions have caused him to suffer “humiliation, mental anguish and emotional and physical distress.” Lutfi’s lawsuit also claims he has received death threats and “has been subjected to unfathomable amounts of ridicule and public scorn.”
Lutfi is also seeking unspecified damages based on an oral contract he claims he and Britney forged in 2007. The suit states the agreement called for him to serve as Spear’s manager for four years and receive 15 percent of her earnings. He claims the singer confirmed the contract in a text message.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an upcoming science fiction film due for release on June 26, 2009. It is the sequel to 2007's Transformers, which was the first live action Transformers film. Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg return respectively as director and executive producer, while Shia LaBeouf reprises the role of Sam Witwicky, the human caught in the war between Autobots and Decepticons. Maegan Fox is still in the cast as Mikaela Banes, Sam’s girlfriend.Plot: The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with than meets the eye.

Miley Cyrus Discriminates Asian Community
Little did Miley Cyrus know that her 'Hanoi Montana' picture would cause her a bad fortune.
The OCA -- a group dedicated to advancing the social, political and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans -- is fuming at this photo of Miley with boyfriend Justin Gaston and some other friends for using what they have deemed an offensive, stereotypical gesture.
According to a statement sent by OCA to TMZ, "The photograph of Miley Cyrus and other individuals slanting their eyes currently circulating the Internet is offensive to the Asian Pacific American community and sets a terrible example for her many young fans. This image falls within a long and unfortunate history of people mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent...
...Not only has Miley Cyrus and the other individuals in the photograph encouraged and legitimized the taunting and mocking of people of Asian descent, she has also insulted her many Asian Pacific American fans," said George Wu, executive director of OCA. "The inclusion of an Asian Pacific American individual in the photo does not make it acceptable."
"OCA hopes that Miley Cyrus will apologize to her fans and the APA community for this lapse in judgment and takes the opportunity to better understand why the gesture is offensive."

ABS-CBN's new inspirational drama 'May Bukas Pa' topbilled by child actor Zaijan Jaranilla leads the national ratings conducted by Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS).Although it only posted 26.4 percent ratings in Mega Manila, May Bukas Pa, on its pilot episode last night generated a 36.9 percent rating in TNS's survey to lead all primetime shows.
The strong showing of May Bukas Pa in the National survey could be attributed to its inspiring story and earlier timeslot. It is shown right after TV Patrol World.
Coming in second after May Bukas Pa in the National survey of TNS is I Love Betty La Fea with 35.4 percent; followed by TV Patrol World (31.7 percent), Tayong Dalawa (28.3 percent) in fourth place, and Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang (26.3 percent) in fifth.
Taking the sixth to tenth place are Luna Mystika, Gagambino, 24 Oras, Eva Fonda, and Deal Or No Deal.

GMA-7's suspense-drama Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang which marks the third team-up of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes topped the Mega Manila primetime race last night based on the overnight survey of AGB Nielsen Philippines.ABHSAT posted a rating of 32.9 percent. Compared to the first two primetime shows of Dingdong and Marian, Marimar and Dyesebel, the pilot episode of Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang in Mega Manila is surprisingly lower. Marimar got 36.6 percent on its pilot episode while Dyesebel premiered with an amazing 44.9 percent.
This could be attributed to the fact that the theme of Babaeng Hinugot is more mature and contains steamy kissing scenes, which is not really suitable for the younger audience.
Meanwhile, Luna Mystika was a very close second with 32.8 percent; followed by Gagambino (30.8 percent), Lalola (29.4 percent), and I Love Betty La Fea (29.3 percent) to complete the Top 5.
The rest of the Top 10 were occupied by the following programs: 24 Oras (No. 6), Tayong Dalawa (No. 7), May Bukas Pa (No. 8), TV Patrol World (No. 9), and Eva Fonda (No. 10).

Zorro has finally found his leading lady.
It was announced yesterday afternoon, February 2, during Zorro's story conference that Richard Gutierrez will be paired again with La Lola star Rhian Ramos.
This will be the fourth time that Rhian will be paired up with Richard. Rhian's first TV project was Captain Barbell, which was portrayed by Richard. This was followed by Lupin and Codename: Asero, although it was really Heart Evangelista who Richard ended up with.
Last night, February 2, on the trade show of GMA-7 to advertisers at A. Venue Main Hall in Makati, it was also announced that aside from Rhian, the other leading ladies of Richard in Zorro will be Bianca King and Michelle Madrigal.
TJ Trinidad, one of the newest talents of Richard's mother and a former Kapamilya talent, will play the main villain in Zorro.
Zorro is slated to start taping this month and will have its pilot episode in March only on GMA-7 Telebabad.

ABS-CBN brings to life one of the most bizarre superhero within the vast collection of acclaimed comic book creator Mars Ravelo.
If size does matter to the ladies, well then, they will get one hell of a kick outta’ this superhero. He has large hands and large feet, and you know what they say about men with large hands and feet...So play up your imagination because after the fiery Dragonna, here comes Flash Bomba!
Tagged as the “Superhero for all Seasons”, Flash Bomba stars Luis Manzano as the famed crime fighter who loves the spotlight, hence the Superhero for all seasons tag (plus the fact that Luis is the son of the Star for all Seasons, and now the elected Batangas Governor, Vilma Santos-Recto). Flash Bomba is the last of the Ravelo superheroes which comprises the much anticipated Isang Lakas super team, due this 2009 on Primetime Bida.
Flash Bomba is likened to Batman, the enigmatic Dark Knight of DC Comics, for both their origins are the same. Both their past are marked by a death which gave them the drive and will to make a difference in the world. Although Flash Bomba’s origin is folkloric, a given among Asian superheroes, the journey each took to be the superhero the world expects are similar.
Comedy is a staple of the Komiks brand so expect a lot of humorous encounters and situations in which Flash Bomba will find himself in. The once thought dead pinoy superhero genre has now pulled itself out of the grave and found the strength to again fly and this time invade our TV screens. Entertainment Live! once again put Karylle on hotseat when they featured Marian Rivera on their OMG segment.
Marian was seen wearing an Abel Bacudio dress on the Gutierrez' siblings 'Rampa For A Cause' fashion show on September 2007. Incidentally, barely a month before the fashion show, Mariel Rodriguez was also seen wearing the same dress on Entertainment Live!'s pilot episode last August 2007.
Aside from that, Marian was also seen wearing a dress worn by Karylle in the Awit Awards night.
When asked who wears the dress best, Karylle once again answered it with a plain 'smile'.

The hottest loveteam of Philippine primetime television will be back beginning February 2, 2009.
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera will play as Homer and Proserfina in the television adaptation of the Carlo J. Caparas suspense/drama classic “Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang”.
Originally created for comics on 1974 by the 2008 Sagisag Balagtas awardee and comics genius Caparas, Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang was also a movie in 1981 starring Eddie Rodriguez and Vivian Velez.
GMA-7 updates the story with the deft hands of head writer RJ Nuevas, and under the direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal. Also at the helm is suspense genius Topel Lee.
Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang is about family, destiny, secrets and deception. And with GMA-7’s version, the series will show that love is indeed the most powerful force on earth.

Chelsy Davy has no more reason to feel upset on her just concluded relationship with Prince Harry. Why? Prince Harry's loss might be a fortunate gain to his look-alike Elliot Gibson.
Can you guess who's who?The 21 year-old, University of Newcastle economics student Elliot Gibson, who earns up to £500 a day as an impersonator, says he has had to go into hiding after being hounded by female fans hoping to snare the newly single royal.
"The past few days have been like nothing I've ever experienced. I was in London on the underground on Sunday and there was a group of 50 teenagers heading up the opposite escalator from me.
"One of the girls saw me and shrieked, "It's Harry!" and another shouted, "Chelsy didn't deserve you! Before I knew it there was a stampede coming the wrong way down the escalator full throttle – I'm sure they knocked down a person or two.
"I seriously thought I would be injured. I couldn't begin to think what they'd do to me if they caught me."
Elliot, who has a girlfriend at university, added "It was the same problem at the nightclubs. I was swarmed by fanatical girls.
"I kept saying, "I'm not him! I'm not him!" but some really aggressive women started grabbing and pulling at me."
Elliott has worked for the Fake Faces lookalikes agency for many years and has appeared on TV shows playing Prince Harry.
