They say that if you want to be "immortal," you do any or, if possible, all of the following:
• Write a book,
• Have a child, and
• Plant a tree.
Being an environmentalist (a recipient of a Fr. Neri Satur award no less, which was named after the priest who died fighting illegal loggers and protecting the forest in Bukidnon), Richard Gutierrez opted to do it backward — plant a tree first, that is. Well, he can always do the two others later, if not sooner. I guess he would have a child (within wedlock, I’m sure) and then write a tell-all autobiography.
A few days ago, Richard, along with his Ate Ruffa, led his star-friends (actually, those managed by his mom, Annabelle Rama) in a tree-planting activity using endemic tree species (kamagong, narra, etc.) in Montalban, Rizal, organized by Earth Day Network and Kabataang Sambayanang Kristiyano. The group included Ana Roces, Bubbles Paraiso, Carla Humphries, Inah Asistio, the Madrigal sisters Michelle and Ehra, and TJ Trinidad.
"We need to reforest," said Richard. "If the youth don’t do it now, the next generation will suffer from the effects of global warming."
Did you know that, according to statistics, the combined forest area lost every year is about 163,000 hectares, which is roughly the size of Cavite province?
Aimed at inspiring interest in environmental causes, the tree-planting activity was a kick-off to 2009: Planet Philippines, a GMA News & Public Affairs documentary showcasing the country’s wilderness and its unparalleled biodiversity. It’s hosted by Richard, just like the previous GMA docus "Signos" and "Full Force Nature" which focused on the importance of preserving the gifts of Mother Nature and for which Richard got his Fr. Neri Satur award (together with esteemed people like Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, Bishop Julio Labayen, Joey Ayala, Kidlat Tahimik, Kim Atienza, Timmy Cruz and the late Francis Magalona, called the "environmental heroes").
2009: Planet Philippines is airing tomorrow night, Sept. 6, on GMA starting at 10:30.

Kim Chiu Covers Preview Magazine September 2009 Issue
Kim Chiu is totally not anymore a girl and yet a lady. But she is clearly on the rise, as she wears the latest trends in this year's Autumn/Winter collection for her first solo pictorial for Preview magazine this September.
A group of promising designers transformed Kim into an enigmatic woman with a lot of edge.
"These are the looks every fashionista will wear for the rest of the year," says Preview editor-in-chief Pauline Juan, as Preview takes the trends straight from the international runways and into the pages of its annual Trend Report.
Much has happened since Kim joined other rising stars for Preview's special gatefold cover in June 2008. "Today, she's one of ABS-CBN's biggest stars, and the ratings of her soap has been consistently phenomenal," says Pauline.

When asked about her dream role, Kim Chiu tells Preview, "I want to play triplets. I want to explore three different personalities in one show—a bad one, a good one, and one in between. I've always wanted to be part of a set of triplets, but all I have is myself."
See more of Kim's stunning photos by grabbing your copy of the September issue of Preview magazine, available in newsstands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide.

With the overwhelming success of her launching movie Kimmy Dora: Kambal Sa Kyeme, Eugene Domingo is now being tagged as Philippine Showbiz "Diamond Comedy Queen".

Eugene still can't believe the blessing that she continuously receives and endlessly thankful to her friends who supported her during her movie's red-carpet premiere last September 1 at SM Megamall.
She said, "Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga artistang nagbigay ng kanilang oras na mag-guest sa movie, tulad nina Regine, Erik, Mark, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Rufa Mae Quinto, Vhong Navarro, Christian Bautista, Paolo Ballesteros, at marami pang iba. At siyempre din ang mga kaibigan ko sa teatro, kung saan ako nagmula, ay sumuporta sa amin."
Aside from her leading man Dingdong Dantes and the movie producer Piolo Pascual, also present during the event were Regine Velasquez, Piolo Pascual, KC Concepcion, Ariel Ureta, Mark Bautista, Mylene Dizon, Miriam Quiambao, Erik Santos, Gabby Eigenmann, Mosang, Archie Alemania, Pen Medina, Baron Geisler, Direk Andoy Ranay, Direk Dante Nico Garcia and some staff and executives of her Kapuso shows Cool Center and Adik Sa 'Yo.
Just today, the movie was given an "A" rating by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) which will free its producers from a full 100% amusement tax from the government.
Kimmy Dora: Kambal Sa Kyeme is now showing in more than 100 theaters nationwide.
