Paolo Bediones Transfers to TV5, Becoming the First "Ka-Shake" Exclusive Talent
"It was the hardest decision I had to make, career-wise," said the 35-year-old TV personality.
"To be able to decide whether I would stay with GMA-7 or to go to TV5, ang daming sleepless nights. Hindi ako makapaniwala na nandoon ako sa sitwasyon na 'yon na I had the opportunity to decide."
Paolo related that before coming up with a final decision, he had to endure two weeks of negotiations between GMA-7 and TV5.
He said "I had the best of both worlds, you see. TV5, they were offering something new; GMA-7, they were offering a fresh contract again. Nandoon talaga lahat ng mga elements of a situation wherein mahihirapan ka talaga."
Paolo was also thinking about his future plans for his career. He recalled, "After the second season ng Survivor Philippines, nararamadaman ko na na parang, 'Saan ako pupunta? Ano na ang gagawin ko?"
"Next year, puro franchise ang mao-offer sa akin, will I be hoping and praying na sa akin mapunta? Kasi, 'yong career ko hybrid, e. Wala namang ganung career talaga, di ba? It's either actor ka or singer ka or host ka or newscaster ka. Ako 'yong pahalu-halo, 'tapos ang format ko sa News and Public Affairs was Survivor, Extra Challenge, Tok Tok Tok, hindi siya talaga pang-News and Public Affairs."
So, what was the offer of TV5 that he couldn't resist?
Paolo, who signed a three-year contract with TV5, said, "Ultimately, what made me decided was that the offer of TV5 included a position in management. 'Yon ang gusto natin talaga—ang maging instrumento sa pagbabago ng industriya natin, mayroon tayong ide-develop na mga talent, mayroon din tayong mga shows na iko-conceptualize din. 'Yon talaga ang nagpa-decide sa akin."
He added, "After the [Survivor Philippines: Palau] finale, nag-iisip na talaga ako, 'What's gonna happen to me what do I wanna do?' Then, TV5 came with a very fresh offer nga, 'yon nga, a management position and opportunity to do things I've never done in my life."
Paolo also crossed-over to the field of acting via the films "Walang Kapalit" in 2003 and "Exodus" in 2005, and in the GMA primetime series "Captain Barbell".

Agot Isidro Covers Preview Magazine December 2009 Issue

"Agot is an unexpected cover girl for December," Preview editor-in-chief Pauline Suaco-Juan says, "She's a well-loved fashion-phile, but more than that, we want to celebrate the fact that at 43, women can still have fun with fashion!"
Agot may wear statement neckpieces and jewel-toned ensembles in this month's Preview cover shoot, but off-camera she describes her style as quite boring. "I tend to dress for comfort nowadays," Agot confesses, "I don't have luho. I'm not into designer bags. I have some, but I don't have to have the it bag or the right shoes. Even jewelry, I don't have much."
It is this safe and conservative style that Preview decidedly glams up this month, as Suaco-Juan says, "We wanted Agot to push the envelope a bit in terms of the clothes she's used to wearing." The result is Agot Isidro as she has never been photographed before.
See Agot's transformation in the December issue of Preview magazine, now available in newsstands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide.

ABS-CBN Celebrates 60 Years of Pinoy Soap Opera
Have you ever imagined the lives of Filipinos when soap operas did not exist yet? Perhaps, they were clueless of each other’s stories; they did not have vivid hints about the other side of reality and they were naïve on how each life’s characters, big or small, affect the whole account of an individual.
60 years ago, Filipinos were not yet exposed to the reflection of their own lives. Thanks to ABS-CBN for it has pioneered in one of the tools that clearly mirrors the story of each Filipino… the television soap opera.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Pinoy Soap Opera. ABS-CBN, celebrates the legacy that has changed the entertainment scene for six decades while revisiting the history that has become a milestone of today’s showbiz industry.

In 1949, the first radio soap was aired by the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) entitled "Gulong ng Palad". Research says that during the early development of radio in the Philippines, the device only catered to music and American propaganda, until "soaps" came into the picture. Originally termed "soap" as it was sponsored by soap manufacturers, it was later on called as "soap opera".
Soon after, the soap opera’s found a more technically-wise home, the television. ABS-CBN aired the first drama on the tube in 1963, "Hiwaga sa Bahay na Bato". From then on, dozens of drama have ruled the said medium and have branched out into other kinds which the giant network has also coined: teleserye, fantaserye, action-serye, sineserye and Asianovela.
ABS-CBN’s leadership has remained solid through the years. Part of the celebration, with its aim to continually provide it’s kapamilyas with quality shows reflecting life’s reality, the network will showcase a fresher, newer and more progressive TV program lineup by 2010.
Celebrate the legacy and relive the history as ABS-CBN commemorates the 60 years of Philippine Soap Opera.

Just like her half-sister, Serpina will also fall for Darna’s first love Eduardo (Mark Anthony Fernandez). She will do everything to get the man’s attention and get rid of Narda, the alter-ego of Darna.

Sexbomb Rochelle Pangilinan, meanwhile, will play the role of violent Babaeng Manananggal. She will disguise as Dr. Deborrah during the day to easily spot pregnant women and other possible victims in town then transforms as an ugly winged monster at night. Deborrah holds a secret that is the key to unveil the past of Ding, the only person who knows the real identity

Unfortunately, she will be possessed by a powerful evil spirit with extreme wrath and fury that will make her the supervillain called Babaeng Demonyita.

A handsome foreigner will suddenly appear in the small town of San Martin. His name is Vladimir played by Celebrity Duets 3 finalist Akihiro Sato. But behind his godlike features is a wicked and vicious vampire who is out to kill innocent people.

The battle between good and evil continues with the arrival of the most powerful nemesis Darna could ever have – Electra, the Queen of Planet Women. Portrayed no less than by the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, Electra is a queen from a different planet who has an incredible strength and power out to conquer the earth with the help of her stalwart female legions.

Aside from Darna, two people close to the Pinay superhero's heart are exerting their efforts to keep peace and order in the society – Pancho (Dennis Trillo), the lighthearted and principled policeman, and Black Rider (Mark Anthony Fernandez), the mysterious vigilant. Both young men will pursue the same woman – Narda.
Get ready for a more action-packed Darna as new foes arrive and new season start this December. Darna airs Monday to Friday on GMA Network’s primetime Telebabad block.

Diether Ocampo Covers Reader’s Digest December 2009 Issue
Identified in the story as "the Filipino actor and activist," Diet is prolific in his work as the founding president of the K.I.D.S. foundation to help children and puts his philanthropic nature down to the principle of "paying it forward."
"I haven’t forgotten that I come from a poor family," he said in the interview. "This keeps me grounded and grateful for what I have today."
The Reader’s Digest Asia recognizes his efforts and makes him (and others) the cover story of the December issue.
The article My Wish for the New Year explores what celebrities and children want to see for 2010.
Aside from Diet, the magazine also features such other inspirational Asians as Malaysia’s Datin Paduka Sharifah Mazlina, the first Asian woman to trek the Arctic and Antarctic; and Marina Mahathir, columnist, women’s rights activist and blogger; and Singapore’s Dr. William Tan, paraplegic and world record holder for fastest person to complete seven marathons in seven countries. These people share their wishes for the new year.
