Showbiznest has just received TV5's official statement regarding the recent controversy involving the show Willing Willie, its main host Willie Revillame and 6-year-old contestant Jan-Jan Suan.

Mr. Willie Revillame, the producers of “Willing Willie” and TV5 sincerely and deeply apologize for the segment of the show featuring 6-year-old Jan-Jan Suan which viewers may have found offensive or in bad taste. We wish to stress that there was never any intention to humiliate or abuse Jan-Jan or any contestant on the show.
“Willing Willie” is a program that was conceptualized to bring joy and hope and shine the spotlight on ordinary Filipinos. The program aims to provide a venue for everyone to show their talents, tell their stories and make their dreams come true. This is the thrust of everyone involved in the program, particularly its host, Willie Revillame.
Like most contestants on the show, Jan-Jan, accompanied by his aunt, joined the program to showcase his talent and play in a game segment in the hope of bringing home big prizes. He has performed in the past in school programs and mall contests, and his performance in “Willing Willie” was completely voluntary and with the blessings of his parents. He appeared to be sad or even in tears, not because he was being forced to dance, but because he felt the dance was “serious” and he was playing a role. He did not want to smile because of his missing upper front teeth and because of the presence on the set of former basketball player Bonel Balingit who Jan-jan thought was a scary “giant”.
Again, TV5 and Wil Productions express profound regret for any insensitivity on their part, and wish to thank all those who have expressed concern. We are always grateful to be reminded of our obligations to the viewing public. In turn, we hope to make clear that the objective of the show has always been to bring joy and hope to Filipinos, whether they are participating on the show or viewing at home."
It was a talent shown by a 6-year-old kid. No one pushed him to do such. He looked sad because he was scared of Balingit, that's it. C'mon give Willie a chance.
If you don't find anything wrong with a little boy gyrating on national television, a host making fun of poor contestants, magnifying their poverty by dangling money, then indeed the Philippine society has become so sick! Shame on you, TV5, for tolerating a disrespectful person like Willie Revillame!

i think willie was given many chances.. it's just that he never learned. apology is not enough. if the law has been violated, a criminal action must be filed against him and/or the management.

It was scary. ABC 5 made that statement to defend Willie. It is very clear that it is a child abuse. It will have an effect to the kid psychologically. These people made the kid do that over and over again while the people are laughing in tears. It is very clear that it is a child abuse.kawawa naman ang mga kababayan natin dahil kung dito yon nangyari sa America,it is a big investigation cause its clear that its child abuse.

We cannot say that Willing Willie is not a problem. Willing Willie in fact is one of the symptoms of a deeper problem in our society.
The more people who sympathizes and follows this program, the poorer our nation becomes. WE cannot just ignore this Willing Willie issue.
We have to remember that "ang kaawaan ang iyong kapwa ay hindi sagot sa kahirapan". Charity does not alleviate poverty.
The issue is not whether you watch or whether you like this show or not, the issue is what is your stand against child exploitation, what is your stand against, poverty alleviation, what is your stand against NATION BUILDING. Will you just sit down and watch things unfold before you?
We understand that this show, Willing Willie is not an anti-poverty program, but we must be aware that this program is giving the masses, the poor people specifically, FALSE HOPE.
FALSE HOPE, that in the auditioning and joining long queues, they will have a shot at temporary fortune.
FALSE HOPE, that parents had to abandon their homes and children, just to give their shot at uncertain fate.
FALSE HOPE, that their happiness rely on one person.
CHARITY teaches people to be lazy.
And now parents are exploiting their children, making them a mockery in front of many people, just to gain money.
To parents: send your kids to school and let them finish college.
To government: spend more on education, education increases quality output of people, quality output means good economy for the country.
To college graduates, first time employees, and job seekers: do your best at work, constantly improve yourself, and do not work for the money, WORK AND LEARN TO IMPROVE YOURSELF, BECAUSE IF YOU ARE WELL OFF, YOU ARE IN A BETTER POSITION TO HELP OTHERS

am really sick and tired of watching willie does the trick or giving money to people who make sipsip by saying guapo siya and yong kunwari kaawa awa sila or pa-hug move para lang madagdagan ang perang maibibigay. last january pa me di na nanonood and here's another crap! too bad...
Granted that the show wants to showcase talents, to help other people in terms of money and to share life experiences for other people to be inspired of, but the show must also consider others' feelings,to know their limits, so that nobody will be offended otherwise the essence and purpose of the show will turn into trash...it will not just reflect negative impact only to Willie but also to TV5 as a whole.
Willing Willie show and Willie Revillame obviously abused the poverty and weakness of JanJan.This show uses people's miseries in life just to gain audience. I agree with NOVELL,this kind of show teaches people to be lazy and depend their life and fortune from a prize given in a certain contest... all false hopes. I hope the govt and DSWD as well as MTRBC will do something about this.
Its so alarming to see a 6 year old boy knows the macho dancer gyrating moves and humiliate himself just to have the 10k from Willie.it is also an alibi to say that JanJan was only afraid of Bonel Balingit that's why he was crying. It already came from Willie himself that the boy even cried while dancing just to earn money for his family.

If "nobody pushed the child to do such", then it's like saying that the 6-year old had authority over the aunt, the parents, and TV5 to dance in front of mocking people. No amount of excuses from the management or finger pointing will make the humiliation disappear from this boy's memory. We all had our share of embarrassing moments as a child, and admit it - they still affect us now, somehow. Everyone in that room had more authority than that boy and had a bigger voice to say or do something to stop it. Obviously, nobody thought about the boy's feelings or was brave enough to defend him. But they all encouraged it, and hailed Willie who prolonged the agony of that child for their own amusement. Prevention is better than patch up cures. Haven't we all had enough of Willie's indiscretions already?
For all the product sponsors who are shelling out millions of pesos to support Willie, I hope you review your mission statements as well. If you truly believe your brands are excellent, then believe that they can sell on their own merits or somewhere else.

This program is full of shit! The news is all over the country in the world. This is a child abuse! Parent and guardians should be blamed. This child should be in school and get educated. Not teaching him this stupid dance and show him off everywhere just to get money. This is disgraceful! P.S. For parents, if you know you can't afford for all the necessities of your child, then stop making a child! A child don't deserve that kind of life. A child don't deserve to be abused and to be humiliate in front of others.

Hwag nyo asahan si Willie -- hindi sya Diyos. Hindi nya hawak ang kayamanan ng mundo. Ang mga pinamimigay nyang pera sa programa ay lahat galing sa mga kumpanya, mga "sponsors" kung tawagin. May hiwalay na bayad si Willie para banggitin nya lang ang produkto sa ere. Ayan ang katotohanan, kaya wag nyo sana isipin na kung wala na si Willie sa TV ay wala na pwede tumulong. Yumayaman si Willie ng milyon milyon kapalit ng ating mga dangal, at tayoy'y natutuwa sa ilang libo na natatanggap natin. Maraming taong ganyan, di lang si Willie. Kaso lang sya din ay nilalapitan ng mga kauri nya na yumayaman sa pag abusa sa mga mahihirap. Nasa atin ang simula ng pagbabago. Maniwala tayo na may kakayanan tayo umasenso na hindi kailangan umasa sa ibang tao.
Well, this is the reality.
Filipinos are so-called "POOR" to the extent that even selling dignity is never an issue anymore,
and we are enjoying this scenario, be a fool, cry to the camera, and now, exploiting the mind of a boy, just to make money.
This is completely absurd.
Huwag na tayong makisawsaw sa mga isyu marami nga sumakay lalo nyo pang pinalalaki ang isyu.
Let's not forget that shows like Willie's are able to get away with these things because the MTRCB lets them. These shows have been going on for years with the MTRCB nary lifting a finger to do any actual "regulating", with the end-result that our people actually find these "performances" acceptable now - even amusing, save for a few. Jan-Jan's case should not be seen as a simple case of one magalomaniac producer's faux pas, but in the broader view of government's failure to do its job properly. As a regulatory body, the MTRCB doesn't even need a formal complaint to be filed for it to start doing its job; it can very well do its regulation on its own, unless the MTRCB members themselves find Jan-Jan's performance amusing.
The given chances for willie don't have any sense., one chance is enough and he must work for his transgression with the human rights, as a fellow filipino, we know that we are not perfect but still there are things that must be put into consideration, and must be punished all who is responsible for the child exploitation.
In the True Side we know what is right and wrong, Grow up! Don't cover the mist of wrongness that we have been for generations .
