Saggy pants wearers may now live in peace knowing the sagginess of their pants is not a crime in the United States of America.
They can now be saggy in the airport, or a plane, mall, or perhaps any other location.
Charges against Deshon Marman, a college football player from San Francisco, have been dropped. Marman was initially accused of resisting arrest after a June 15th incident aboard a US Airways flight- an incident that stemmed from the bagginess of Marman’s pants.
The 20-year-old was arrested and charged with trespassing, resisting arrest and suspicion of battery on a police officer at San Francisco International Airport following a flight attendant’s request the young man- who has a full scholarship, football and academic, at the University of New Mexico- pull up the pajama pants he was wearing. Marman told crew members he would adjust the saggy pants as soon as he got to his seat, as his hands were full.
San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Wednesday that prosecutors “do not believe that criminal charges are warranted in light of all of the circumstances surrounding the incident.” The decision followed a protest at City Hall Wednesday in which 200 people gathered to demand charges against Marman be dropped.
Protesters complained Marman was targeted because he is young and black. One dramatically stated:

I have to say, I have no comment on whether Marman was racially targeted. What I can say is the bottom line is, it is unconstitutional to tell a citizen of this country to pull his pants up because it is "unsightly". What if the airport security worker wore his pants like that when not working? Then it is more likely then not, that security would tell him to pull his pants up.
Secondly, if safety was in question, as in suspicious activity because the pants were oversized, than he should've been asked to drop his luggage and go threw proper security measures.
Bottom line is, it is rediculous to think that the preference size of someones pants could land someone in jail.
Not to mention, look at the kid's credentials. He's good kid. Glad this ended up in his favor.

Perhaps a dress code should be enforced to board aircraft. Those that do not like it can board other carriers & behave & look like swine. Then those of us who understand decorum can be left in peace.
The saggy pants (typically revealing boxer shorts) look is utterly ridiculous ... And those who do it do tend to be of a particular race (and age group)... The man wasn't arrested for wearing saggy pants. He was arrested for refusing to comply with the wishes of the plane crew and later the police. It may be unconstitutional to tell a citizen to pull up his pants ( I can just imagine our founders connecting the Constitution to low riding pants that reveal underwear and butt cracks)but it is NOT unwarranted for a private company to tell patrons what they can or cannot wear on private property. I am not morally offended by women who dress like hookers and men who dress like, I don't know what - but I do feel DISRESPECTED when their "right" to dress like this conflicts with my right to be FREE of the sight of them in certain situations.

As I was leaving my bank with a money bag in my hand an 18 year old, 6'4", 185 lb. person of that color grabbed my money bag and bolted down the street. I (a 60 year old man) took off after him and chased him 2 blocks till a policeman saw what was happening and stopped him. How did I keep up with him for 2 blocks? His pants were down around his knees and he finally tripped in the middle of the street when the police were after him. There is an advantage to this fashion statement, and the ignorance of those that think it is cool.

When you are on a ship or a plane, you are subject to the rules of the captain and the crew. People who use crack apparently lose a lot of weight so naturally they'd have to wear a belt to avoid losing their pants all the time. Pulling the race card just because you aren't white is tiresome and makes you sound just as racist as the racism you're demanding an end to. Conversely, white people giving every other race continuous reason to pull the race card is just as tiresome. If everyone just got over themselves the world would be a much better place. It has nothing to do race it is all about public decency. If you want to wear your pants with your nasty ass hanging out then do it around peopel who do it. If I walk out the house and my pants fall to knees, as a decent human being, my instincts tell me to go and put on a belt or to put on another pair of pants that fit. If he is dimissed solely on the fcat that he is a "good kid," then who is to blame and where does it stop? Do we go after the parents and say that they failed to teach their children proper etiquette? No, it should a matter of human decency to always dress appropriately.
