Mideo Cruz, the artist behind the controversial “Poleteismo” artworks that mixes Christ with kitschy symbols of pop culture and includes a crucifix with a movable penis, has been called a "demon" and bombarded with death threats and hate mail since his work started to exhibit at the Main Gallery of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
But as we are all aware of now, the said artworks which were part of a group exhibition “Kulô” at the CCP has already been removed as response to numerous protests and criticisms from different religious groups and organizations.

Dapat ikaw Medyo "sayad" Cruz ang binaril sa Luneta, hindi si Rizal. Ano bang art ang pinagsasabi mo? Trabaho ng sira ULO yang pinaggagawa mo! SIRA ULO KA! Why should he be jailed? Wala naman siyang nalabag na batas ng gobyerno. The only mistake he made was held his exhibit at the CULTURAL Center of The Philippines since his artwork doesn't represent the culture of the Filipinos.
PS: Kung hindi binaril si Rizal, the Philippines would've been different. His death triggered the Revolution.
It is only blasphemous if we're going to think of it as it is. Maybe it's the one, who think of it as blasphemous, is the one whose brain is filled with malice and lewd thoughts.
And, they are just symbols. our faith wouldn't change despite which image we see with our eyes. We should hear him out before we start condemning him.
It's not art, it's pure and simple vandalism, He should take up singing or other trade. Likewise those CCP management staff should instead take up jobs in junkyards, where they'd find their kind of "artworks".
Our faith wouldn't change but it's an insult to what we believe in. If your father or mother's image was vandalized in such manner under public view, would you not feel enraged?
You can not defend a person who does not show RESPECT.
Sana yung picture mo nalang ang binaboy mo, hindi yan art, tanga at gago lang ang pupure ng art mo, kahit sinong tao hindi matutuwa sa ginawa mo. siraulo!!!!
great art politiesmo! it has extracted the levels of faith. we can't see the art on the craft. we can see the art oust in the heart of the viewer.

the politiesmo is a great work of an artist because it depicts the real meaning of politiesm. It pictures the real occurencies in the Philippines where several people claims that they are christians but in truth they are worshipping many gods. You can only appreciate an art if you interpret it implicitly but not looking to its physical appearance.

May limit din yang sinasabi ninyong freedom of expression kasi nakaka offend ung artwork ni Mideo Cruz especially to catholic faith. Dahil we respect the image of Jesus Christ. Eh kung muka kaya ni Mideo Cruz ang lagyan ng ari ng lalake matutuwa kaya sya. Sa tingin ko matutuwa siya kasi parang natutuwa pa siya nung nilagyan niya ng ari ng lalake ung nirerespetong muka ni Jesus eh. Kaya ang sa tingin ko hindi isang form of art yan, isa lamang yang pambabastos sa paniniwalang katoliko. Makakarma rin yan sa mga ginagawa nyang yan. Let us wait n lng.

wala sa art ang pagbabago ng tao.. kaya huwag nyo na lang masyadong pinauukulan ng pansin si Mideo.. ang pagtuunan nyo ng pansin e kung paano nyo babaguhin ang mga dapat nyong baguhin sa sarili nyo. puna kayo ng puna sa mali ng iba e andami nyo ring mali sa buhay.. tumingin kayo sa sarili nyo at magbago.. palibhasa hindi nakikita ng tao ang baho nyo.. ayusin nyo mga pamilya nyo.. ung mga anak nyo na bastos ang pag ukulan nyo ng pansin... kung sino sino ang gusto nyong punahin ung sarili nyo walang pagbabagong nangyayari... punahin nyo ang sarili nyong baho wag ang baho ng iba.... kung sino ang walang kasalanan sa inyo through out your life sya ang may karapatang bumato ng makasalanan.. kung alam mong may kasalanan ka din at may maling pag uugali wag ka na mambato ng ibang tao... so examine your self first before others!! gets mo?

true! kasi sabi sa Bible do not worship idols.. e bakit ang mga pari nag woworship ng idols? sila ang unang lumalabag ng batas ng Diyos.. hindi lang ng batas ng gobyerno ang hindi nila sinusunod gaya ng pabubuwis pati yung batas ng Diyos na huwag sumamba sa mga diyus-diyosan e nilalabag din nila.. grabe talaga! i was born and become a catholic but i was so dissappointed when i saw the truth in the Bible. i want to sibmit to the authority of our government yet not disobeying the Lord. magbubuwis ako at hindi sasamba sa mga idols made of wood and stone. we all have our religious beliefs. respeto lang sa bawat paniniwala. walang bastusan. kung di naman babastusin ang isang paniniwala eh wala din namang magiging problema di ba? Medio Cruz must have an idea of what will happen after showing that art piece. i can't help but to think that he wanted to get infamous by this art so even if he knew that there will be negative feedback, he still showed it. Respeto lang sa bawat paniniwala, dahil kahit sinong tao pag relihiyon ang pinag-uusapan, nakikipaglaban.
if he is truly an artist, he could have used other mediums to convey what he wants. he didn't need to use the crucifix to do that. As a catholic, a crucifix is something that symbolizes God. if he is mocking the crucifix, it's like he is mocking my religion. sa iba ok lang siguro kasi di naman sila naniniwala sa crucifix. sa ibang religion dyan, i respect your belief na di kayo naniniwala sa images. pero irespeto nyo rin ang paniniwala ng mga R.C., siguro kung sinabi ng ibang relihiyon na mali ang paniniwala nyo, di nyo ba ipaglalaban. yan lang ang ginagawa ng CBCP. RESPETO lang sa bawat paniniwala.
Kakasabi nyo ng masasamang salita dyan mas masahol pa kayo kay Mideo Cruz. Yung iba nagmumura. Yung iba sabi mamatay na sana si Mideo. Mag isip muna kayo ganyan ba ang kristyano? Kaya namang palipasin na lang. Wag na lang kasi pansinin.
To everyone who defend the act of medyo crozz and tolerate it as a safe expression regarding our individual definition & interpretation of art.. well, assume this... what if medyo crozz used your precious, beautiful & valuable pictures and images "YOU people who's in his side" instead of that images of the most popular and respectable person in the universe "Jesus Christ". can you assure we can't here anything from you. just that simple... we're dealing here the gigantic word RESPECT. don't you have any amount of respect left in your being. we even need to render respect to the most less individual in our society how much more to a sacred personality!... did you get what i mean? come on let's use the best of our wisdom as a rational animal. We are human being who can distinguish right from wrong, good from evil, respect from contempt. just looking to the precious name of "Medyo Crozz" itself do you believe it's pleasant for him to read the way i spilled it? of course not!... right?... DO YOU RESPECT YOURSELF? WILL RESPECT OTHERS... art is not the big thing here... but "RESPECT" is the ultimate deal. so start to make a good one... and express your art of "RESPECT"
namatay man si rizal o hindi sa ganuung paraan di parin ganun ang kalayaan naabot natin..dahil ito sa mga amerikano kung bakit tayo lumaya sa pananakop ng kastila..walang kakayahan ang ating mga ninuno na labanan ang mga kastila at manalo..nalaman ko yan sa history subject...sa isyu namang ito naipapakita nito na marami na nga tayong masasamang tao sa mundong ito...tama na baguhin mona natin ating sarili bago husgahan ang iba..maaari pa tayong makapagbago ng iba sa pamamagitan ng pagiging mabuting halimbawa sa iba.....sana tumagal pa ang buhay ng ating pangulo ngayon upang marami pa siyang pagbabagong magagawa sa sitwasyon ng pilipinas ngayon
