Marvin Reglos a San Beda Law Student Killed in Hazing Laid to Rest

Update: Marvin Reglos, who succumbed to death due to multiple injuries allegedly caused by hazing of the Lambda Rho Beta fraternity, has been laid to rest in a public cemetery at Isabela province on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Reglos' grieving relatives released 25 white balloons at the burial which represent his age had he lived to celebrate his birthday this year.

Marvin Reglos, a 25-year-old freshman law student from San Beda College, died from injuries sustained in an alleged hazing incident.

Reglos sustained severe bruises on several parts of his body as a result of his initiation rites in Lambda Rho Beta fraternity.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival after his body was brought on Sunday night by two men on board a red Honda City with plate number WMF 174 at the Unciano Medical Center in Antipolo City.

Two suspects, alleged fraternity members Erick Edrosolano Castillo, 28; and Bodjie Amorin Yap, 24, were arrested on the same night Reglos was rushed to the hospital after they went back to the hospital, supposedly to check on the victim’s condition.

Police said the case is strong against the suspects after they found from their cellphones several text messages, supposedly from other fraternity members, warning not to speak out on the matter or reveal the identities of those behind the alleged hazing.

Yesterday, Reglos' father, Lucito, and sister, Lorvie, met with Justice Secretary Leila de Lima today to seek her help in the investigation into their kin's death and to request for a re-autopsy of Reglo's remains. De Lima has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ), to conduct a parallel probe into Reglos' death.

Incidentally, De Lima co-founded an ally sorority of the Lambda Rho Beta, the Lambda Rho Sigma.

The San Beda College of Law, meanwhile, condemned the violent killing of Reglos saying it was an “unlawful and dreadful act of violence.”

“The San Beda College of law condemns the system of brotherhood that employs violence, intimidation, intentional force, or reckless imprudence as part of any of its ceremonies or practices. Consequently, the school does not recognize their existence,” the school said in a statement.

San Beda also said it will cooperate with the investigation of the National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police.

The school’s administration, together with the Law Student Government, have also formed a committee to conduct the investigation of the administrative aspect.

Anne Hathaway Reveals Her Destructive Past: "I’m Not a Saint. I'm just like Lindsay Lohan."

Anne Hathaway, opened up about her "destructive" past in an interview with The Sun and revealed that she and Lindsay Lohan have more similarities than one might think.

"Lindsay Lohan and I have more in common than people think", Hathaway said. Adding, "We've all done things we shouldn't. It is just that I did stuff at college when nobody knew about it, so I'm not a saint. I wasted time doing self-destructive things."

"I found you can only dance on so many table tops," Hathaway said. "I got all that out of my system and I am healthy and grounded."

Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang Love Scene with Erich: "Mas Better Than No Other Woman." - Derek

Derek Ramsay, the male lead star of Star Cinema's upcoming horror/suspense movie “Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang”, talks about his love scene with co-star Erich Gonzales.

Derek said his kissing scenes with Erich in the movie are even more intimate than those he did on “No Other Woman.”

Shaina Magdayao Temporarily Leaves Showbiz

Shaina Magdayao had a slight accident while performing on ASAP 2012 last Sunday, February 26, making her decide to temporarily leave showbiz while on recovery stage.

Shaina sustained an ankle injury during her production number and still could not walk alone until now.

John Lloyd Cruz, the actress-performer's boyfriend, gave an update on Shaina's current health condition.

“‘Yung ankle niya namaga, hanggang ngayon maga siya. Hindi naman siya na-confine sa hospital. Naka-bandage lang at pinapahinga lang niya. Actually, hindi pa siya makalakad,” Cruz told Push.ph.

‘Kapamilya Deal or No Deal’ Premiere Soared High on Ratings, Trended on Twitter

Filipinos nationwide accepted the new ‘deal’ offered by host Luis Manzano after the much-awaited comeback of the hit game show “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” soared high on its pilot telecast last Saturday (February 25).

Based on data from Kantar Media, Deal scored an average national TV rating of 21.7% versus its rival game show “Manny Many Prizes” with only 10%. The show was also talked about online as it trended worldwide on Twitter. Luis is very thankful for the viewers’ support. Michael Jordan Sells Chicago Mansion for $29 Million

Michael Jordan is selling his longtime family home in Highland Park for a whopping $29 million.

The property, built in the mid-1990s and renovated in 2009, encompasses more than 56,000 square feet and includes nine bedrooms, 15 full baths, four half baths and five fireplaces spread between a main house and a connected guesthouse. ‘Wako Wako’ Premieres March 5 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida

After their sweet, cool and blockbuster tandem in their 2010 movie “Ang Tanging Ina Mo [Last ‘Na To],” acclaimed director Wenn Deramas is excited to work once again with Comedy Concert Queen Ai Ai delas Alas in ABS-CBN’s newest fantaserye “Wako Wako,” which will air on March 5.

In her preparation for the new project, Ai Ai went to the Holy Land recently and visited some important places in Jesus’ life. In her pilgrimage, the Comedy Concert Queen took the chance to reflect on her life and thanked the Lord for the blessings she continues to receive.

Also featured in “Wako Wako” is the called young Coco Martin Yogo Singh. For his first ever big break, Yogo is very much excited. He never thought that portraying Coco would be a sign of something big that will be offered to him.

Besides Ai Ai and Yogo, also casted in “Wako Wako” are Vandolph Quizon, Glady’s Reyes, Maricar de Mesa, Malou de Guzman, Dennis Padilla, Carlos Agassi, Abby Bautista, Marki Stroem, Lizel Garcia, Eagle Riggs, DJ Durano and Franco Daza. Other members of the program’s cast are ecstatic to be part of the project, since it’s headed by a renowned director and starred by the Comedy Concert Queen.

“Wako Wako” is a story of seven-year-old boy Muymuy (Yogo), who yearns to make his father, a respected policeman, proud. His cowardice nature, however, prevents him to do so. He will discover a magical creature and he’ll call it Wako. Wako-Wako fulfills all his wishes, but soon Muymuy discovers that every granted wish comes with a price.

A mysterious lady named Dyosa Marishka finds Muymuy and tells him that Wako is an Arukan and that she is a goddess of wishes in need of help from the creature. The goddess needs to find seven people who will provide pure selfless wishes to save her kingdom and bring her back to power. In return, Wako helps Muymuy with his family’s problems in this endearing tale of friendship and relations.

Christian Bautista and Noel Cabangon Receive Record Awards

It was a big day for Universal Records as two of its prime artists Noel Cabangon and Christian Bautista were presented record awards for their respective albums.

Noel’s Byahe was given a Double Platinum Record Award, while Christian’s Outbound was awarded a Gold Record Award.

“At this day of piracy and downloading, it is really an achievement that albums still sell,” says Universal Records Kathleen Dy-Go. “We are so proud to have the bestselling artists in our roster.”

Actress-model-host Megan Young is the latest cover star of Rogue Magazine - and she's undoubtedly one damn sexy lady.

The photo, taken by photographer Marc Nicdao, showed Megan in a black two-piece bikini.

Megan’s pictorial was held in the island resort of Balesin. The styling was done by LA Consing Lopez, with makeup by Carmi David and hair by Brent Sales.

Manny Pangilinan Confirms Ongoing Negotiation to Buy-out GMA-7

Now it can be told.

Manny V. Pangilinan, Chairman of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) and TV5, reveals he is in talks to buy GMA Network.

Pangilinan said he's been negotiating for the purchase of GMA Network as early as 2002, and talks were recently revived.

He, however, clarified that the talks are just preliminary.

"We've talked to them since 2002. Then maybe 5 years ago. Very, very preliminary," he said.

If the deal pushes through, GMA-7 will be the latest addition to Pangilinan's media empire, which already counts TV5 , and a minority stake in broadsheets Philippine Daily Inquirer and BusinessWorld.

Pangilinan assured TV 5 that it will not be neglected and the station's employees won't lose their jobs.

"What we want to hold sacred are the initial batch of people who joined when we're just starting," he said. "We're not abandoning them for another TV network we're investing in. They need not worry."

Why is someone who got flak for putting PLDT and Digitel together contemplating a mega-merger and investments in another industry?

"The intent is to replicate what other media groups have done elsewhere in the world," Pangilinan said.

Asked if he is "doing a Rupert Murdoch" - the Australian media mogul - Pangilinan said Murdoch is "sui generis" (class of his own).

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck Welcome Baby Samuel Garner Affleck

Hollywood power couple Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have welcomed their third child, a baby boy, on Monday, February 27.

The proud dad first announced the good news on his facebook account saying that he is happy to announce Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy they named Samuel Garner Affleck.




Jennifer and Ben, now both 39-year-old, wed in June 2005 at a private ceremony in Turks and Caicos, in the Caribbean. They welcomed their first daughter, Violet, in December 2005, and second daughter Seraphina in 2009.

The couple, both 39, announced they were expecting their third child in August last year and while they did not reveal the baby's sex, Garner told chat show host Jay Leno in January this year that they knew.

"It would be so weird to have a boy," Garner was quoted as having told Ellen DeGeneres. She also said it would be "cool and different."

Gerald Anderson was positively shocked and revealed his knees felt weak when he heard his rumored girlfriend Sarah Geronimo call him "babe" during the taping of a VTR aired on "Sarah G Live!" last Sunday, February 26.

The couple (?) were shown dating inside a yacht. Sarah, during their karaoke session, suddenly blurted out "Hanap lang ako, babe" while flipping through a songbook. Both of them looked at each other with surprise. And in their effort to save the situation, they explained that the song they were singing has "babe" in the lyrics.

"Maybe there's something... but sa ngayon, friends po talaga kami and masaya ako kung anong status namin ngayon." Gerald said.

Christopher Lao Now Aware He Passed the Bar

Christopher Lao of the famous "I wasn't informed of the flood" YouTube video, has been informed he passed the 2011 bar exams.

Lao said what he went through because of that incident was not a joke. He has been long a target of sarcastic jokes and intense criticisms that almost made him decide not to push through with his plans of becoming a lawyer.

"I went through a lot during those times. I almost quit review and planned to forego the bar because I got so depressed," Lao said in an interview.

And now being a certified lawyer, Lao wanted to pursue an advocacy preventing cyber bullying.

"I want to have cybercrime laws, and prevent cyber bullying. As a lawyer, this time I would like to see good bills are legislated," Lao said.

According to Supreme Court Administrator and spokesman Midas Marquez, the 2011 bar exam results is the second highest for the decade following the 32.89 percent in 2001. This is attributed to “the reforms undertaken in the 2011 Bar Exams.” For the first time, a multiple choice type of exam was included in the 2011 Bar exam. Multiple choice was 60% of the total exam, while 40% is essay.
