SMART, on its official Facebook account, announced that they will temporarily shut down its mobile services in Manila for the procession of the Black Nazarene on Monday, January 9 after Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald Dela Rosa requested telecommunication companies a total shutdown of mobile phone signals for security purposes.

Among the affected subscribers are Smart, Sun, and TNT users within Quiapo, Manila and along the route of the Traslacion.

Smart said its mobile services will restore "as soon as authorities give the go signal."
