Manila’s pioneer theater group, Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), presents the re-run of the hit musical comedy-drama ‘Care Divas’ to kick-start its 50th season program.
First staged in 2011, ‘Care Divas’ tells the story of five transgendered overseas Filipino workers in Israel who are caregivers by day and transform into glamorous drag queen performers by night.
This musical is written by award-winning playwright Liza Magtoto which centers to the lives of the main characters: Chelsea, Shai, Thalia, Kayla and Jonee. They struggle to make ends meet and search for freedom and acceptance in the ‘Promised Land’.
‘Care Divas’ includes a powerhouse cast of seasoned PETA actors including Ron Alfonso, Eko Baquial, , Jason Barcial, Joan Bugcat, Buddy Caramat, Vince De Jesus, Eric Dela Cruz, Gio Gahol, Melvin Lee, Joseph Madriaga, Dudz TeraƱa, and Gold Villar with guest actors Ophir Burton, Ricci Chan, Red Concepcion, Jef Flores, Paul Holme, Sherry Lara, Thou Reyes, Leo Rialp, and Myke Salomon.
In its 50 years in the industry, PETA has produced multitude of creative artists who believe in its vision of empowering the Filipinos through the performing arts.
