In line with its continued thrust to promote environment-friendly practices and provide support for underprivileged communities, Brother Philippines once again partnered with non-profit organization the SEA Institute to donate printers and toners to public schools in the town of Mabini, Batangas.
The donation, which was done in two legs in September and October 2020, saw eight public schools from Mabini each receive a Laser Multifunction Machine, toner cartridges, and reams of bond paper for the teachers’ and students’ needs. SEA Institute President Robert Suntay was personally present for the turnover of the donations.
The eight schools were:
San Teodoro Elementary School
Mainit Elementary School
Bagalangit Elementary School
Panay Elementary School
Mabini Central School
Mainaga Elementary School
Talaga Elementary School
Solo Elementary School
The first four schools were chosen by the SEA Institute for their location near Barangay San Teodoro in the town, in which the organization has a reef monitoring and alternative livelihood program for the community. The latter four schools were chosen through coordination with the Department of Education.
“We are extremely grateful to Brother Philippines for their generous donation of printers and toners to our partner schools in Mabini, Batangas,” said SEA Institute Activity Head Joseph Alfonso Ascalon. “These efficient and reliable laser printers will be a tremendous boost to the productivity and morale of the teachers in their pivot to modular lessons for their students. All the teachers were delighted with the capabilities of the printers and were confident that would be able to save valuable time.”
Brother Philippines first partnered with the SEA Institute in October 2019 for their Family Day and CSR activity. In its constant drive to do more for the environment, the company sought more relevant environment-friendly causes they could participate in, leading them to find SEA Institute and their marine conservation and community support objectives around the Verde Island Passage in southern Luzon.
