Kapuso Shows and Stars Win Bigtime at the 51st Box Office Entertainment Awards, Mendiola Consortium

GMA Network takes pride in providing superior entertainment and information to Filipino viewers as the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF) honored some of its prized artists and programs at the virtual awarding ceremony last Sunday, October 18.

Leading the list of winners is GMA's flagship newscast "24 Oras," which was recognized as the Popular TV Program in the News & Public Affairs category.

Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards was hailed as Phenomenal Star of Philippine Cinema and Film Actor of the Year for the blockbuster movie "Hello, Love, Goodbye."

Kapuso actor Gabby Concepcion was conferred the prestigious Corazon Samaniego Award.

Meanwhile, the well-loved pair of Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix received the Most Popular Loveteam for Television award for their outstanding performances in the epic drama series "Sahaya".

"Eat Bulaga" Dabarkads also took home various awards. Allan K received the Bert Marcelo Lifetime Achievement Award while Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros won as the Male TV Host of the Year. Paolo also earned the Comedy Actor of the Year award, while Maine Mendoza was chosen as the Comedy Actress of the Year.

Receiving the Box Office Entertainment Awards nod as well was fast-rising singer Anthony Rosaldo who was named as the Promising Male Recording Artist of the Year.

Various Kapuso programs were also recognized by educational institutions in The Mendiola Consortium Awards.

Well-loved news magazine program "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS)" won as Best Magazine Show while longest-running documentary program "I-Witness" was hailed as Best Documentary Show.

Hit family sitcom "Pepito Manaloto" emerged as Best Comedy Show while GMA News TV's "Biyahe ni Drew" was named as Best Culture & Arts Program.

"24 Oras," on the other hand, received a Special Citation for Best News Program, while environmental wildlife program "Born To Be Wild" earned a Special Citation for Best Educational Program.

The Mendiola Consortium is an educational organization in the Philippines founded by San Beda University, Centro Escolar University, La Consolacion College of Manila, College of Holy Spirit, and St. Jude Catholic School. Each member school voted based on their mission and vision, which promote Peace, Filipino Values, and Role Model.
