ABS-CBN Still Undisputed TV Station in the Philippines in May

ABS-CBN brought relevant news and values-laden stories to more Filipinos last May as it recorded an average audience share of 45% versus GMA's 32%, according to data from Kantar Media.

The Kapamilya network won in both rural and urban homes, particularly in Metro Manila where it garnered an average audience share of 41%, compared to GMA's 26%, and in Mega Manila where it registered 36%, beating GMA's 34%. ABS-CBN also ruled in Total Luzon with 41% versus GMA's 35%, in Total Visayas with 54%, compared to GMA's 25%, and in Total Mindanao with 52%, while GMA only got 30%.

Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

"FPJ's Ang Probinsyano" (40.7%) kept its throne as the country's most watched program in May, followed by LizQuen-starrer "Bagani" (32.4%).

GMA-7 Airs the First Lakorn on Philippine TV Entitles “You’re My Destiny”

As part of its 15th anniversary celebration, GMA The Heart of Asia introduces 'Lakorn' on Philippine TV, the Thailand counterpart to Filipino teleseryes. With the Network's continued search for different contents from all around the world, they are bringing a new culture that the Filipinos will truly love.

GMA First Vice President for Program Management Joey R. Abacan is driven to deliver content that does not limit the viewers' entertainment. "This is why we are called the Heart of Asia. We believe that the viewing preference of our audience is not only limited to the local setting, so we want to bring them the world. Now, ang gusto nga namin, 'di lang tayo makilala as the Heart of Asia but hopefully, as the Heart of the World."
The GMA executive also believes in the power of 'You're My Destiny' as a perfect vehicle to introduce Lakorn. "It has the elements of drama, love, laughter and entertainment that is the trademark of what our viewers love to watch," Abacan explains.

As the first Lakorn on Philippine TV, 'You're My Destiny' will feature the intertwined lives of Paolo (Wisetkaew Sukrit), an heir to a big consumer company; Martina (Esther Supreeleela), a law firm clerk who is usually taken advantage of at work; Cathy (Wecks Lanlalin), Paolo's ballerina girlfriend; and Rafa (Tre Porapat Srikajorn), an orphan who worked hard to become famous and find his long lost sister.

Martina and Paolo find themselves in a compromising situation after a blurry night, and months later they find out that she is pregnant. With the pressure of producing an heir, will Paolo turn his back on Cathy and answer to his responsibility as a father? Meanwhile Martina also meets Rafa, and they become each other's confidante. Will this newfound friendship help their personal struggles?

Witness the representation of Thai culture in 'You're My Destiny,' beginning June 4, after Inday Will Always Love You on GMA Telebabad.
