She joins previously announced cast member Bituin Escalante in this Broadway hit. Maronne is more than excited to be joining the cast, saying, "Waitress is my dream show, and I get so elated when I think about playing Dawn. I connect so much with her! Bobby Garcia, who directs, the highly anticipated musical says, “I was struck by Maronne’s authenticity as Dawn when she came into audition. It was an effortless audition and she hit all the right dramatic and vocal notes. I think audiences are in for a special treat when they see her on stage in WAITRESS.”

Family and Far-Out Fun in Marvel Studio's “Ant-Man and The Wasp”
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes the next film to feature the adventures of Ant-Man, “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” which debuts his long-awaited ally, The Wasp.
While audiences were primed for the next film in the “Ant-Man” franchise, everyone was thrown a gigantic curveball by Ant-Man’s appearance in “Captain America: Civil War.” Ant-Man joining the fray with Cap and the Avengers firmly planted him within the Super Hero family, albeit a fractured, dysfunctional one. But, more importantly for Marvel aficionados, it also provided the setting for the splashy debut of Giant-Man, the oversized incarnation of our Super Hero.
“What’s exciting about ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp,’” says producer Kevin Feige, “is it’s really a sequel to two movies. It’s a follow-up to ‘Ant-Man,’ while also showing the aftermath of ‘Captain America: Civil War.’ For me, there’s a tremendous amount of excitement when you’re able to tell stories like this and combine characters from their origin movies and then layer in their appearances from other movies. Because of this strategy, Ant-Man post-‘Civil War’ has now been exposed to a much bigger audience.”
Adds producer Stephen Broussard, “Scott’s participation in ‘Civil War’ ended up being a really great jumping-off point for this movie. The events of ‘Civil War’ defined where Scott is in his life at this moment and laid the groundwork for the story that we tell in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp.’”
The most exciting and anticipated reveal in the film is the introduction of The Wasp, which brings an amazing, female Super Hero to the big screen, and into the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Says Feige of the newly unveiled Super Heroine, “The reveal of The Wasp suit is one of our favorite endings of any of our films. It’s something that she believes, that we believe and we think the audience believes when it comes to female superheroes. It is about damn time, and that’s why the movie is called ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp.’”
Revisiting the prevailing theme of family, an integral part of “Ant-Man,” was a no-brainer when crafting the story line for this next installment. It was the heart of the first film, and the filmmakers wanted to explore more of that through the Van Dyne-Pym and Lang extended families.
Explains director Peyton Reed, “In my mind, the family dynamic is so crucial to what the ‘Ant-Man’ movies are. Scott Lang is the real everyman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s not a super scientist; he’s not a billionaire. He’s just a normal guy who doesn’t have superpowers. It’s all about that suit. There’s a part of Scott that has a take-it-or-leave-it attitude about whether he’s a hero or not. After inadvertently putting his daughter in harm’s way and then facing life in prison never to see his daughter again, Scott is ambivalent about being Ant-Man, and we definitely tell that story.”
Concludes Feige, “What’s exciting about all of our characters is their humanity. Scott Lang, in particular, has a much deeper connection with family. The relationship between him and Cassie was the backbone of ‘Ant-Man.’ We’ve expanded this further in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ with Scott’s bigger family unit and with Hank, Hope and Janet. I think that’s what audiences respond to. Of course, you still get the spectacle, and you get the fun of Ant-Man shrinking and now growing but you also have this very deep family connection, which is unique among all of our Marvel Studios films.”
The fun-filled “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” with its signature out-of-this-world action and laugh-out-loud comedy, flies into Philippine cinemas July 4, 2018.

“Incredibles 2” Becomes the Biggest Opening Weekend Ever for a Disney-Pixar Title
The Supers returned and heroically took over the Philippine box-office! Disney-Pixar's "Incredibles 2" debuted at No.1 this week, bowing with a P133.1-M five-day opening weekend (June 14 - 18), shattering the record for Biggest Disney-Pixar Opening Weekend of All-Time in the country.
The animated superhero film bested the record established in 2016 by "Finding Dory" at P101.7-M.
"Incredible 2's" Friday, June 15 gross of P32.7-M meanwhile clobbered the record previously held by 2015's "Minions" (P32-M) for the Biggest Friday Ever for an Animation Film in the Philippines.
It's a smash comeback for the Parr family of superheroes, whose presence on the big screen has been missed by Filipinos for 14 long years. Pent-up demand for a sequel and nostalgia have triggered a fevered audience enthusiasm, exemplified by a sensational first weekend.
The Manila visit of Pixar animator and "Incredibles 2" shading art director Bryn Imagire and her portraits of local celebrity families added interest to the film. The long-weekend and Father's Day celebration also helped drive families to the cinemas.
The opening weekend figures of the Brad Bird-directed film are also ahead when compared to recent Pixar blockbusters such as "Inside Out" (lower by 25%), "Big Hero 6" (73%), "Monsters University" (108%) and "Toy Story 3" (117%). The original movie, "The Incredibles" opened in 2004 with P18.1-M.
More families and moviegoers are expected to watch "Incredibles 2" as it comes to its second week in Philippine cinemas nationwide.

Crime Drama ”Escobar (Loving Pablo) Opens in PH Theaters on June 20
As our country continues its strict war on drugs, VIVAInternational Pictures and MVP Entertainment present ESCOBAR (Loving Pablo), a movie that chronicles the rise and fall of the infamous Colombian tagged as the "King of All Narcos", Pablo Escobar.
Based on the best-selling book "Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar" by Virginia Vallejo, a distinguished journalist with whom Escobar had an affair with, it stars Academy Award winners and real-life husband and wife, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.
Several documentaries and feature films have already been done about this son of a farmer who, at one point, became the seventh richest person on the planet, but Bardem (Skyfall, No Country for Old Men) and director Fernando León de Aranoa (Barrio, Mondays in the Sun, A Perfect Day), assure that their movie is nothing like what viewers have seen before.
According to Bardem, "ESCOBAR (Loving Pablo) begins when Pablo Escobar is already an established businessman, but people hadn't yet figured out how he was making his money. He meets Virginia, and through their relationship and her platform, he soon becomes a powerful public figure with a voice for the people."
What the people of Colombia didn't know was that the man they were supporting always had a selfish motive behind his actions, and it was too late when they finally came to realize it.
"That's where the movie starts," Bardem reveals, "and the story is that of the people around him as they realize what kind of a person he has become."
As for de Aranoa, he believes that Pablo found a confidant in Virginia, "someone who he could convey his innermost ideas and intentions, which makes her a unique character and gives our story a fresh perspective."
On how he and Penelope Cruz approached their characters, Bardem says, "Our portrayal of Pablo and Virginia are fully fleshed out human beings rather than stereotypes…We try to understand the motivation behind Pablo's actions and why Virginia supported him at the beginning…That's why it's called Loving Pablo - because this movie is through Virginia's eyes and the eyes of those who loved Pablo the human being."
Cruz, who had worked with Bardem in Woody Allen's hit Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which she won the 2009 Best Supporting Actress Award at the Oscar's, prepared hard for her role. "I've never met her," says Cruz, pertaining to Virginia Vallejo who currently resides in Miami, "but I've studied about 800 hours of various interviews and shows that she did as a journalist and TV presenter. She is the one that trained Escobar how to use the media to communicate, how to deal with the press, how to address the public. In his political career, she became a significant figure in his life.
Playing the significant role of Agent Shepard who is instrumental in the capture of Escobar is celebrated actor Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven, Experimenter). It was Bardem who emailed him and offered him the role. "One of the things that Javier baited me with when he was first talking about the movie, is that he said that I had a lot of scenes with Penelope." He had worked with Cruz in the film Elegy, and he's a fan of Berdam as well, so he readily said yes to doing this film with them.
Audiences can expect "amazing action moments" from this crime drama. But most of all, Bardem emphasizes, "this story is about relationships – love, hate, greed, ambition, pain, and joy."
ESCOBAR (Loving Pablo) opens in cinemas nationwide on June 20, 2018.

Jeremy Renner Becomes an Easy Target in Lifelong Game of “Tag”
Two-time Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner ("Arrival," "Avengers" films) stars in New Line Cinema's comedy "Tag" as Jerry, the undefeated player in a game of tag that friends have been playing since they were little kids.
"I thought it was awesome that there are guys who really do this in real life," says Renner. "The script was hysterical, but it also attracted me because it was about friendship lasting in perpetuity. I've moved around a lot, so I think having continuity from your past is really important. I'm a big believer in holding on to things that matter; if you value something, it sometimes takes great effort to keep it."
In New Line Cinema's "Tag," five guys—despite age, geography, and adult circumstances like jobs, illness, marriage and children—manage to keep playing. For the entire month of May every year, no matter what is on their plate, they revert to the antics that consumed them in grade school, when they first started chasing each other on the playground. Against all odds, they keep in touch. Letting themselves have fun and be childlike together, even if only once a year, actually makes them better friends and more responsible adults.
This year Jerry is getting married on the very last day in May, and there are only 63 hours left on the clock for the guys to tag him. And what could be more humiliating than getting tagged at your own wedding? With his fiancée determined to have a May wedding, Jerry doesn't even send his friends an invitation—he knows they're coming. And the guys believe this is their last great chance to tag him. They can't let Jerry retire without ever being "it," and lord that over them the rest of their lives. Hoagie, the leader of the group, isn't going to take that lying down.
Renner describes Jerry, who owns a fitness gym, as "an overachiever, probably too competitive in everything that he does. He's very physical and athletic—a type A personality—but also has a wonderful jovial air to him. And even though he totally dominates the other guys, there's no malice; he has a great sense of fun and enjoys the game."
There may be no malice, but there is an intensity that is a little scary. "He's super happy, and then suddenly it's a totally serious game face," he continues. "That polar aspect is what attracted me most to the character and it's been great to explore that…it also makes him the most dangerous tag player around."
"Jerry is the invincible, untouchable opponent. He's lightning fast, he's smarter than them, he's cooler than them, and he seems to have powers beyond human capability in the game," says director Jeff Tomsic. "But he's also really sort of lonely and misses these guys he's been working so hard to run away from all these years, and Jeremy was able to convey all of that at once."
The harder the other guys have tried to keep the game going and them together, the more Jerry has sprinted in the opposite direction. Always trying to win, both have lost sight of the point of the game: it isn't about winning, it's about playing.
About "Tag"
Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy "Tag" shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.
For one month every year, five highly competitive friends (Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Hannibal Buress, Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner) hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they've been playing since the first grade—risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: "You're It!"
This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they're coming…and he's ready.
In Philippine cinemas July 26, "Tag" is distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

A Harvard MBA holder, Stephen is the former CEO of the Covey Leadership Center, which he guided into becoming the "largest leadership development company in the world." It was there where he helped his father's book, Dr. Stephen R. Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, become one of the most influential business books of the twentieth century, according to CEO Magazine.
Karen, the anchor of "Headstart with Karen Davila" on ANC, said she is excited to learn how the younger Covey was able to continue and grow what his father started.
"Stephen MR Covey is expanding his father's legacy. At 48 years old, I want to know how Stephen dealt with the challenges of following in his famous father's footsteps, overcoming and even growing the company further. Stephen talks about qualities credibility, integrity, intent in his book, The Speed of Trust. In today's fast paced modern world of tech, start-ups, the changing face of media - it would be interesting to know the role these values play," she shared.
The veteran anchor said she will also get the speaker's thoughts on the importance of trust in organizations, especially at a time when fake news and misinformation is prevalent.
"No one wants to appear vulnerable at work. It is seen as a weakness. In any organization, not just news, the bigger the company, the harder it is to show who you really are. I want to ask Stephen examples of companies that have taken themselves around with a shift in thinking," she said.
Karen previously moderated the 2017 ANC Leadership Series Forum on Global Governance & World Economy with Dr. Madeleine Albright, the first female Secretary of State in the U.S.A. With 25 years of experience in the media industry, she has covered and interviewed many heads of businesses and government leaders, and she believes one trait is always present in a good leader.
"A good leader must be credible. One can only lead well by example and it takes discipline, self-denial often times, and sacrifice. People want to follow role models - a leader must have integrity and courage, able to make the tough decisions for the good of his or her team," Karen shared.
Stephen M.R. Covey is the fourth international speaker brought to the Philippines by ANC, the country's premier 24/7 all-English cable news channel, in the past three years. Early this year, ANC also brought in Peter Guber, the executive chairman and co-owner of reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors and chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment Group, while Virgin Group founder Richard Branson was the inaugural speaker of the ANC Leadership Series in 2016.
"ANC Presents: Leading with Trust, A Session with Stephen M.R. Covey" is part of the country's premier all-English cable news channel efforts to raise the level of discourse on global affairs and business issues in the country by bringing globally-respected thought leaders for a one-day speaking engagement.

First Look Photos of Josh Groban and Tony Danza's Netflix Series "The Good Cop"
On September 21, 2018, TV’s most beloved Tony returns when The Good Cop, a new 10-episode, one-hour dramedy series starring Tony Danza as a former cop, with Josh Groban as his currently-a-cop son, launches on Netflix.
In The Good Cop, Tony Danza plays Tony Sr., a lovable yet not exactly honorable, former NYPD officer who never followed the rules. He lives with his son, Tony Jr., played by Josh Groban, a brilliant, straight-laced NYPD detective who makes a point of always following the rules while solving Brooklyn’s toughest cases. This “odd couple” become unofficial partners as Tony Sr. offers his overly-cautious son blunt, street-wise advice. Also joining the cast are Monica Barbaro, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Bill Kottkamp.
Andy Breckman, the creator of Monk, serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Randy Zisk (Bones, Monk), and Howard Klein (The Office, The Mindy Project) also serving as executive producers. Tony Danza is a producer on The Good Cop. The series is inspired by a format from Israeli production company YES, who also serve as executive producers. The Good Cop is a Netflix original production.

TFC Artists Jona and Sam Milby Rocked the City of Carson at the Celebration of the 120th Anniversary of Philippine Independence
Thousands of residents from the City of Carson and nearby areas in Southern California made their way to the Veterans Park in Carson for the 120th Anniversary Celebration of Philippine Independence.
It was a spectacular Saturday that started with the flag-raising, followed by an ecumenical service led by Rev. Emmanuel Orendain, pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church, and then a community mass celebrated by Rev. Father Albert Avenido of St. Philomena Catholic Church. This was followed by the presentation of colors and parade led by City of Carson Mayor Albert Robles.
The rest of the day was packed with fun and entertainment for the whole family. Vendor booths spread throughout the park provided arts and crafts, food, and various engagement activities. Philippine Independence Day Foundation Chairman Alex Cainglet pointed out that “There were around 100 plus booths this year versus the average of 70 from previous years. More local businesses bought in with the drawing power of TFC and the quality of entertainment it is known for world-wide."
Myx TV, the only English-language multicultural Asian American entertainment network in the United States, showcased their various talents during the Myx TV Hour hosted by social media phenomenon Jessica Lesaca, Host of “Week Sauce.” Gracing the stage were singers Rocky Sandoval, Jeserey, Jules Aurora, and Leanne Tessa of Club Mickey Mouse.

Special guests Myx Host Joshua Manansala, Jamal McClerkin, host of Myx Digital’s “What’s in the Bag?” and Audrey Elizabeth, Myx Digital host were also there to spice up the Myx TV Hour.
Myx TV Virtual Casting Project Manager Allen Palos noted that audience engagement was very good. He says that “We saw a lot of second generation Filipinos in attendance, and organizers told me they had an influx of second gen attendees.”
The much-awaited TFC Hour opened with SoCal locals- Adobo Nation’s LA Chika Reporter Anna Diaz and BA Correspondent Steve Angeles taking to the stage for some fun banter with the audience before introducing the main acts of the Philippines’ Soul Princess Jona and Rockoustic Heartthrob Sam Milby.
Councilmember Elito Santarina was all praises, saying that “The City feels fortunate to have such great talents from TFC for our Philippine Independence Day Celebration. This annual celebration is Carson’s biggest event so we want only the best for the community. That is why I thank TFC for bringing two of their best talents, Sam and Jona, to Carson.”
Jona and Sam enjoyed themselves as they performed for the SoCal community. Both artists went down from the stage and joined the crowd on the ground, as they continued singing, wanting to be with, and reach out up close to the lively audience.

It is endearing to see how the ABS-CBN/TFC artists connect with the festival participants. PIDF Trustee and City Council Deputy Riezl Locsin-Pe Benito noticed that “they (Sam and Jona) are both sincere in their intention to bring happiness to the community as expressed in their interactions toward the audience. The hosts, Anna and Steve, were great too, in addition to the fact that the community knows them already.”
Cainglet said that, “people from Santa Barbara (70 miles away) and San Diego (90 miles away) drove all the way to see them perform. Several dignitaries, namely state and city officials, who were non-Filipinos, stayed on to watch and be entertained.” He also added that “Sam and Jona gave world-class quality entertainment. The organizers felt so right and blessed to get TFC for this year’s celebration.”
Santarina echoes the sentiment when he revealed that “the attendance this year broke all records. This has the biggest turn out so far. In fact, Carson has been the talk of the town since Saturday. The community now looks forward to next year’s celebration.”
Jona, Sam, and ABS-CBN/TFC were presented with Certificates of Congressional Recognition by Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragan (California’s 44th District) Commendation and Plaques of Appreciation, and plaques of appreciation from the City of Carson.
After the Carson event, Jona and Sam proceeded to the Hilton Hotel in Universal City to appear at the dinner gala event of Kalayaan Incorporated of Southern California at the Hilton Hotel in Universal City, celebrating the 120th anniversary of Philippine Independence.
