Mariel Rodriguez vs. KC, Toni, Vice Ganda, Anne and Luis. So, Who is Telling The Truth?

Posted by Posted by JED on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 , under | comments (1)

Hirit ni Mariel: "What?! I don't even know that. I have no idea."

Siguro kaya kong sabihin to be perfectly honest, siguro ako may konting tampo sa kanya."

Gusto kong i-clarify yun once and for all, never kaming nag-usap ni Binoe."

2. Anne Curtis and Vice Ganda.

Hirit ni Mariel: "You know I was just texting with Anne the other day, never kami ni Anne nagkaroon ng isyu. Let's not drag Anne into this. How come everyone [is being involved]? That's my question, why everyone? I don't understand."

Hirit ni Mariel: "I have no issue with KC at all. I was so surprised. I don't know what the issue still is. I really don't know, but I have no issue at all with KC."

"Thank you, kasi never siyang nagpakita sa akin ng kahit na anong masama. On my part, I don't think rin na meron akong nagawa sa kanya o napakita na masama. I even remember saying na 'ang galing niya.'

"I don't know what the issue is. Thank you, kasi wala rin siyang sinabing masama, I respect her."

Aniya, "Sa mga narinig ko, she was saying some things about my show, yung Simply KC. Bakit daw ako may show?

"Ang masasagot ko dun, hindi ko narinig yun straight from her, usap-usapan yun. At the same time, kung totoo man yun, mahal ko yung show ko, mahal ko yung trabaho ko, in the same way na mahal niya yung trabaho niya.

"But let's all be happy with each other. I'm happy for her because she has her lovelife, her personal life. Kung totoo man yun, let's all be happy with each other kasi each of us, meron tayong io-offer sa mga audience, sa mga taong nanonood sa atin."

"Ang dami ko kasing naririnig, so I don't know how to react. Where do I start? Kasi parang she's denying it. She said, she never said anything.

"Pero marami rin naman akong naririnig not just from one person, sa totoo lang. And ako kasi, I'm very direct.

"Sabi ko nga kina Charlene [Gonzalez, The Buzz co-host], kung totoong friend ka...kasi nagte-text naman kami before.

"She's been denying it. And I know if I confront her, she'll be denying it nang harap-harapan.

4. Toni Gonzaga.

Hirit ni Mariel: "Gusto kong maalala yung friendship namin ni Toni for how it was. Pinapahalagahan ko ang mga kaibigan ko. Marunong akong mag-value ng kaibigan. I never said I was perfect but I know in my heart and I'm sure lahat ng mga naging kaibigan ko at mga kaibigan ko, alam nila na ni minsan wala akong kaibigan na trinaydor. I've been a good friend."

May mensahe pa si Mariel kay Toni: "Toni was like a sister to me. I'm not here para makipag-away. I'm here to entertain people, to spread peace, love and happiness. That's my message for Toni... love and happiness."

Ani Toni, "I guess siguro para sa akin, once and for all, a lot has been said and done.

"Siguro one thing that I would take away from this whole experience is that I learned so much about the guys in the industry, about friendships.

"Okay yung confrontation, e, okay yung diretsahan, e.

"This will serve as a lesson not just for me but for everyone watching. Bakit nangyayari lahat at the same time? Bakit sunud-sunod?

"Because what you sow is what you reap.

"Because I want peace. Because ang pinakagrabe sa problemang ito ay it was you, Toni, and Mariel because you were closest.

So, I was talking about my position.

"So, when Mariel said it was the last time she will talk about it, ako sinasabi ko with hope and a prayer na sana down the road, really one day, lalambot ang lahat, mapag-uusapan, mapagtatawanan.

"And Toni is right, we will remember our learnings."

TV5 Allocates P10B to Battle ABS-CBN, GMA-7

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

MEDIAQUEST Holdings Inc., the operator of TV5, is allocating P10 billion in the next four years to build state-of-the art facilities, an official said Friday.

We are on a start-up period. We are rebuilding everything,” company president Atty. Ray Espinosa said.

We don’t look at the income yet, so we know that we will incur losses in the first few years. We have a five-year plan, and based on that, we are working towards being profitable on year five.

Espinosa said the company would earmark P9 billion to P10 billion from next year up to 2014 to acquire new transmitters and a facility in Mandaluyong City that would house six studios by 2012, bringing TV5’s number of studios to 10 in two years.

We plan to break ground in November,” Espinosa said.

We plan to transfer the news block in September next year, and the balance will be a year after.”

The expenses on the ultra-high frequency channel, which would be under Nation Broadcasting Co., a commercial UHF television station owned by the First Pacific conglomerate, and radio stations would eat up most of the budget.

The programming costs would reach P2 billion this year and P1 billion next year, Espinosa said. The TV network would be going international soon and would be tapping “the same market currently tapped by the two networks.”

We want to get that market as soon as possible as there are revenues that come from overseas distribution,” Espinosa said.

TV5 had established TV5 Global, which is in charge of promoting the network’s programs abroad, and was now developing its online portal that would contain news and shows aired in the TV network.

We are strengthening our new media,” Espinosa said.

Roberto Barreiro, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of TV5, said the TV network had been able to secure a 10-percent share of the audience nationwide and 12 percent in Metro Manila.

We just want double-digit market shares, and we were able to do that on our first year,” Barreiro said.

Now the targets have been upgraded.”

Barreiro said the network was now seeking permits to expand in 50 areas nationwide, and that its coverage had reached 70 percent. The target was 85-percent coverage by the end of this year and 95 percent by June 2011.

Advertisers were now receptive to the network as a result of its improving ratings and reach, Espinosa said.

We offer a new platform and a new outlet for [advertisers], and obviously, our rates our lower with them on a negotiated basis,” he said.

Sid Lucero is a Best Actor nominee for his performance in Dahil May Isang Ikaw in the 2010 International Emmy Awards.

The Philippines once again captured the prestigious International Emmy nods courtesy of Sid Lucero (Timothy Mark Pimentel Eigenmann) and his teleserye "Dahil May Isang Ikaw."

The 38th International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced its list of nominees from around the world (except the US), and Sid Lucero is nominated for the Best Actor category while his teleserye "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" is nominated for Best Telenovela category.

Sid is vying for the coveted trophy against Bob Hoskins (The Street – United Kingdom), Sebastian Koch (Sea Wolf – Germany), and Leonardo Sbaraglia (Epitafios – Argentina).

Dahil May Isang Ikaw, on the other hand, is competing against two other telenovelas: Ciega a Citas from Argentina and My Love from Portugal.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony on November 22, 2010 in New York, to hosted by Beverly Hills 90210 actor Jason Priestly.

Last year, the Philippines got three nominations: Best Actress for Angel Locsin for her performance in Lobo, Best Telenovela for GMA-7′s Magdusa Ka and ABS-CBN’s Kahit Isang Saglit.

No Filipino actor or tv program has won an International Emmy to date.

Past to Present: 11 Women Who Couldn't Resist Robin Padilla

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (3)

Robin Padilla was dubbed as "The Bad Boy of Philippine Movies" following the huge success of his action flicks in the '80s. Aside from his films, he was also known as a ladies' man. Based on his relationship track record, Robin is one man whose appeal cuts across a broad spectrum of ladies who couldn't resist his charm.

Here is a long list of women wooed and smitten by Robin Padilla’s machismo and charm:

Jobelle Salvador
Robin and Jobelle Salvador met on the set of his indie film “Carnap King” in 1989. That started a love affair that brought forth a son, Jeremiah Joseph Leroy Salvador, now 19 years old. Based in the US, he was named after his grandpa, the late filmmaker Leroy Salvador.

Despite the attribution to Robin as Jeremiah’s dad, the identity of the boy's father was the subject of a puzzle--was it Robin (a.k.a. Binoe) or Jobelle's former boyfriend, broadcaster-writer-actor Erik Espina? Salvador did not confirm anything publicly and even Erik, as a matter of fact, had requested for a DNA test, which has not reportedly been done to date.

Leah Orosa
Robin and Leah Orosa were paired off in Viva Films’ “Sa Diyos Lang Ako Susuko”. Then sprung a love story between the young Casanova and the mestiza model. The liaison bore them a daughter, Camille, who now lives with Orosa abroad.

Kris Aquino
It was Pinoy showbiz news icon, the late Inday Badiday, who introduced Robin and Kris Aquino to each other. It was a colorful romance. Kris was 18 when Robin, then in his early 20s, became her boyfriend. Rumor had it that the two had planned to elope. They eventually broke up because Robin was still in his "unstable" stage back then. In 2003, Kris and Robin made a movie whose title described their former relationship, You and Me Against the World. In 2003, Robin and Kris teamed up on TV for ABS-CBN’s “Basta't Kasama Kita.”

Melissa Perez-Rubio
What did Melissa Perez-Rubio, Kris Aquino and Sharon Cuneta have in common? Robin, of course, and Richard Gomez (a.k.a. Goma), too. All three women became the girlfriends of Robin and Richard.

Sharon Cuneta
Robin and Sharon Cuneta fell in love on the set of Viva Films’ “Maging Sino Ka Man” in 1994. Binoe and Goma were rivals in the heart of Sharon. They were rivals too, in popularity, and were each other’s nemesis. They even physically punched each other because of their love interests.

Liezl Sycangco
Robin and Liezl Sycangco were married in Muslim wedding rites in 1996 at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa where Padilla was incarcerated for illegal possession of firearms. Everyone thought Robin and Liezl's union would last. In 2008, however, the two called it quits officially. They have 4 children.

Vina Morales
Robin and Vina Morales's love story is said to be the most sensational. It was the very first time Morales ever fell in love. The two first met when they did the movie “Miss na Miss Kita: Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum 2.”

Ruffa Gutierrez
It was again Inday Badiday who introduced Robin to a lady love, this time, beauty queen-host Ruffa Gutierrez. They were paired off in Badiday’s film production of “Lab Kita, Bilib Ka Ba?” (1994). Unfortunately, there were several obstacles that kept them from getting any closer. For starters, Ruffa's mom Anabelle Rama wasn't exactly into Robin. That was also the same year that Robin got arrested. Still, rumor had it that he had gone as far as proposing to Ruffa.

Dolly Anne Carvajal
The public went gaga when Dolly Anne, the daughter of Inday Badiday, revealed that she had hooked up with Robin. While Robin was mum about the issue, Dolly Anne has been more forthcoming. In an article by showbiz writer Chit Ramos, Dolly Anne was asked what is was like to be with Robin. She replied, "Kailangan pa bang itanong 'yon? Tinatrato [kang] reyna, iyon 'yon." When asked to elaborate, Dolly Anne revealed that Robin was a tireless lover.

Judy Ann Santos
When Robin and Judy Ann starred in the ABS-CBN action-drama teleserye Basta't Kasama Kita, which aired in 2003, it wasn't long before they were rumored to be together. However, showbiz pundits who were sympathetic to Judy Ann's plight, said there was nothing going on between them. In fact, Boy Abunda wrote in his Philippine Star column: "Judy Ann Santos is being forcibly dragged into the marital imbroglio of Robin Padilla and wife Liezel Sicangco, now based in Queensland, Australia with their four children. This is grossly unfair for Juday, who to my mind is one of the most hardworking actors in showbiz."

Mariel Rodriguez
TV host Mariel Rodriguez is Robin's latest conquest despite a 17-year age gap. They met this year on the set of ABS-CBN's noontime TV show "Wowowee." He married Rodriguez in India last August after a whirlwind courtship.

Three More Female Co-Hosts To Join Pilipinas Win na Win

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Aside from the Hitmakers Rico J. Puno, Rey Valera, Nonoy Zuniga and Marco Sison, Pokwang and Valerie Concepcion, three more women will be joining as co-hosts in ABS-CBN daily noontime variety game show “Pilipinas Win na Win” (PWNW).

Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, explained on Tuesday that the “management has decided to try a combination of new hosts for the program.”

In addition to the Hitmakers, three more names were reported to be hosting the show. They are G, Wendy Garcia and Janelle Jamer.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the three girls said they are very honored to be included in PWNW.

Jamer, who used to co-host Wowowee for a short while, said she is willing to show more in her come back.

The new hosts will be start hosting the afternoon show starting October 4.

Kris Aquino Rejects Hosting The Return of 'Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal'

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Now that Kris Aquino is out of Pilipinas Win Na Win, rumors has it that she was given a new show - to host the return of Kapamilya Deal or No Deal which is already being plugged on ABS-CBN.

But the Queen of All Media was quick to say that she'd rather have a new TV show after shooting her movie Dalaw than return to KDOND. "Sorry ha, I am really being super blunt about it. Gawan ni’yo ako ng something talaga that will make me shine. And I feel that I’m talented enough and I’ve paid my dues enough to have that. So siguro naiintindihan nila (ABS-CBN management) ako," stated Kris during the press con of her new Belo endorsement.

Apparently, management had asked her to do KDOND twice a week, but she has yet to make the commitment since that game show doesn’t offer a challenge to her anymore. "KDOND is being plugged, but we’re still discussing because I felt that I had done everything I could do for the show. Because the show was at its peak in 2007, when Noy ran for the Senate. Kasi ang campaign poster nga niya naka-thumbs up kaming dalawa. Pero as of this moment I’m not connected with the show," she stressed.

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

The Kabarkada gets bigger and better starting October 4 as Studio 23 launches brand new shows and broadens its programming to cater to a wider audience following its sterling performance in 2010.

Data from Kantar Media show that Studio 23 recorded its highest growth in audience share nationwide from January to August this year as compared to its closest competitors. As of August, Studio 23 is now number four nationwide with an audience share of 4.1%, which grew by 153% from 1.6% audience share in January.

Studio 23 Head March Ventosa attributed Studio 23 's impressive performance to its latest offerings of movies during lunch and early primetime, Koreanovelas, animes, Top Rank boxing matches, and UAAP/NCAA games.

It recently launched its "Double Primetime" programming with nightly movie features in "Barkada Nights" on weeknight primetime followed by the best US hit programs.

In its almost 15 years of operations, Studio 23 has always been at the forefront of introducing trailblazing concepts on free-to-air broadcasting. It was the first local free-to-air network that aired fresh epsiodes of American programs two weeks after airing in the US via its F.U.S.E. or Fresh US Episodes campaign.

Studio 23 was again the first Philiippine TV network to offer free online viewing of its foreign and local programs via Catch Up TV (www.studio23.tv) wherein viewers who missed their favorite local shows could watch them on the Internet anytime, anywhere in the Philippines .

Starting October 4, start your all-new Kabarkada mornings with the simulcast of DZMM TeleRadyo from 7 AM to 8:30 AM featuring “Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Siete” with Ted Failon and “Dos Por Dos” with Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja. This marks the premiere of DZMM's top rating radio programs on free-to-air Philippine TV which would now enable audiences to watch Ted, Anthony, and Gerry deliver and tackle the most important issues affecting the country.

Kids will also get their dose of Kabarkada treat s from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with the back-to-back airing of Nickelodeon’s “Catdog” and “Danny Phantom” every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and “Wonderpets” and “Chalkzone” every Tuesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, Studio 23’s double primetime gets even bigger and better with the launch of four new local shows.

Join Pinoy Big Brother’s charismatic and well loved Korean housemate Ryan Bang as he explores life in the Philippines in “3ow P0whz!” airing Mondays at 9:30 PM.

Get an outrageous and hilarious approach to male education with model-actor Boom Labrusca, commercial model Aran Sese, internet star Jobert Austria, and award-winning stand up comedian Alex Calleja in “Usapang Lalake” every Wednesday, 9:30 pm, while get a weekly dose of must-see and funny videos with RR Enriquez and Aaron Atayde in “Pa-Bida Ka!” every Friday, 9:30 pm.

In the field of news and current affairs, Studio 23 launches a ‘different’ kind of news/talk show with Anthony Taberna in “iBA-BALITA” airing Mondays to Fridays at 9 PM. Deviating from the traditional format of newscasting, Anthony will dissect and analyze the hottest issues in the country today with the help of ABS-CBN News and DZMM correspondents and resource persons.

"'IBA-BALITA' will prioritize depth over breadth. The news stories will not only be comprehensive and fair, but these will be explained by our multimedia journalists and subject matter experts so that viewers will be informed and empowered," said Ventosa.

Kabarkadas will also get to watch a primetime replay of the hit crime docu-drama “SOCO” anchored by Gus Abelgas every Tuesday at 9:30 PM and the explosive investigative reports of Julius Babao, Pinky Webb, and Anthony Taberna in “XXX” every Thursday at 9:30 PM.

When it comed to the latest happenings in the entertainment world, Gretchen Fullido will give you a rundown of what’s hot and what’s not in “The Wrap,” weekdays at 7PM.

Fans of the Philippine version of the hit Koreanovela series "My Girl" starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson can relive the romatic comedy story of Jasmine and Julian on weeknights at 6:30 pm starting on Monday, October 4. First aired on ABS-CBN, "My Girl" follows the story of Jasmine whose poor fortune suddenly changes when she is hired to pretend as Julian's long lost cousin. Jasmine's role takes a sudden turn when she realizes that she is falling in love with Julian. The feeling, it turns out, is mutual. Problem is, the lovers can't come out in the open since everyone already believes they're real cousins.

Meawhile, foreign series fans will have a new primetime addiction as Studio 23 airs ABC’s newly launched hit sci-fi drama “No Ordinary Family” beginning October 24 (Sunday). Follow the story of the Powells, a typical American family who undergo a remarkable transformation after their charter plane crashes in the Amazon River.

Don’t miss all these exciting new offerings this Monday, October 4, from your one and only Kabarkada on television Studio 23.
