Six Reasons to Watch Gong Yoo's Award-winning Korean Series 'Goblin' on ABS-CBN

One of Korea’s most successful fantasy dramas, “Goblin,” has finally arrived on Philippine television as ABS-CBN airs the top-rating series in its late primetime block beginning tonight (May 8). It is one of the most anticipated series by Pinoy Korean drama fans and is dubbed as the most popular Korean drama of 2016.

Feeling the ‘Goblin’ fever already? Well, here are six reasons why you should watch “Goblin” on ABS-CBN:

1. TOP-RATING, TOP-CALIBER FANTASY DRAMA. “Goblin” is dubbed the most popular Korean drama of 2016. It consistently topped viewership in its timeslot on cable TV via tvN, and is one of the highest rating dramas in Korean cable television history.

2. SOUGHT-AFTER KOREAN LEADING MEN. Does the lead star Gong Yoo look familiar? Do you remember him being chased by Korean zombies in a train? Well, that’s him, all right. Here he is in his comeback television project, following his rise to international stardom.

Aside from Gong Yoo, another familiar face is the Grim Reaper, played by Lee Dong Wook of the hit series "My Girl".

3. HOLLYWOOD CALIBER PRODUCTION. Critics also claim that “Goblin” is one of the best-produced dramas in Korea. It is at par with productions from Hollywood, from the visual effects to the cinematography, locations, and so on.

4. CAPTIVATING FANTASY PLOT. The world of Kim Shin (the Goblin) and the grim reapers will totally draw you in and make you watch “Goblin” every weeknight. Watch how grim reapers get souls overdue to leave the mortal world and how Kim Shin can save and protect a soul from departing. Ever wondered what happens after you die? “Goblin” has a pretty interesting take on it.

5. ‘KILIG’ LOVE STORY. Filipinos are very much into love stories, so “Goblin” will definitely give you all the romantic feels especially with the story of Kim Shin and Erin.

6. IT IS WRITTEN BY KOREA’S MOST SUCCESSFUL TV WRITER. The creator and writer of “Goblin,” Kim Eun Sook, is called a star writer because her works are sure top-raters and can catapult Korean actors to stardom. Recently, she won the Grand Award in the TV category for ‘Goblin’ at the 2017 Baeksang Awards, one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in Korea. Gong Yoo also received a Baeksang award for Best Actor.

“Goblin” airs weeknights after “A Love to Last” on the first and true home of Asianovelas, ABS-CBN.

Football Superstar David Beckham Appears in the Movie 'King Arthur: Legend of the Sword'

A scar-faced, broken-nosed David Beckham appears in a cameo in Warner Bros. Pictures' King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, in Philippine cinemas May 17, 2017.

The superstar ex-footballer plays one of King Vortigern's (Jude Law) Blacklegs standing guard over the proceedings around the mystical, powerful sword Excalibur.

While Beckham remains new to the world of acting, he humbly accepted the probability of criticism over his role saying, "I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed. I know that it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline, and I wouldn't want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it, and doing a lot more practice."

It's no secret that Beckham and British director Guy Ritchie are great friends. The pair has worked together on commercials that promoted the sporting legend's product lines for H&M and Haig Club whiskey, while Beckham also had a cameo in Ritchie's last film, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, King Arthur: Legend of the Swoerd stars Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Oscar nominee Jude Law, and Eric Bana. Ritchie directs the film from a screenplay by Joby Harold and Guy Ritchie & Lionel Wigram, story by Joby Harold.

The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.

Opening across the Philippines on May 17, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. www.kingarthurmovie.com

Paramount Pictures has just launched the new Transformers: The Last Knight one-sheet showing Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in combat mode, with the ominous tagline, "For one world to live, the other must die."

The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone's life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

From MOA to Dubai, ASAP Birit Queens to Bring World-Class Performances in the U.S.

Composed of four of the grandest voices in the Philippine music industry - Angeline Quinto, Jona, Klarisse de Guzman and Morissette Almon - known as "ASAP Birit Queens" continue to prove that they are the ensemble to beat as they brought their musical collaboration to their first performance outside the Philippines, to a full-house National Theater of Abu Dhabi on April 7 while their U.S. concert series is in the offing.

Like a prelude to the day that was to come, as early as the day before, thousands of fans trooped to the Khalidiya Mall to pay homage to their musical queens at the very first public press conference staged by premier network The Filipino Channel (TFC).  The Queens gamely sang acapella to provide a sneak peek into their powerhouse of a show.  On concert day, about 3,000 fans from Abu Dhabi and as far as other emirates travelled to witness the musical brilliance that is "ASAP Birit Queens."

The admiration was felt even on social media.  According to IG user @markrambo03 "I can easily tell that they LOVE what they do and do what they love.  Long live the Queens!"

Together, the "ASAP Birit Queens" were dynamite.  Exploding vocal powers in their "Emotions" and "Problem" mash-up were Jona and Morissette. Jona impressed as she whistled Mariah Carey style while Morissette combined singing and rapping in Arianna Grande form.

Meantime, Angeline Quinto and Morisette Almon raised the excitement level to the roof as they performed some of Adele's most memorable pieces such as "Someone Like You."

Oohs and aahs met the duet of Angeline and Klarisse as they brought the house down with their rendition of "When You Believe" theme from the movie "Prince of Egypt" and "I Believe I Can Fly" from the movie "Space Jam."

But what moved the audience to their feet was their medley of male pop rock hits: "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zepellin; "I Would Do Anything For Love" by Meatloaf; "Help" by The Beatles and "What About Love" by Heart.

Another memorable string was their medley of inspirational hits: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Klarisse; "Impossible Dream" by Morissette; "Somewhere" by Jona and "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Angeline.

Individually, each musical queen held her own with her unique musicality and style.  But despite their immense popularity and success, "ASAP Birit Queens" in Abu Dhabi included, the Queens' feet stay on the ground.  For each of their solo performances, they dedicated their music pieces to important people in their lives who played a huge role in their successes.

From countless auditions, to the "Star Power: Sharon's Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar" and now as the "Teleserye Theme Queen," Angeline has truly come a long way. On the night of "ASAP Birit Queens," Angeline did not disappoint as she performed iconic Original Pilipino Music such as "Anak" which she dedicated to her pseudo mom and lolaMama Bob and that left the audience yearning for their mothers and the homeland.

Jona, dubbed Fearless Diva for a reason, made kabayans feel that her long time in the industry has not gone to waste as she performed iconic musical pieces with the highest of decibels.  Most memorable was her winning piece "Through the Rain" which she dedicated to her former fan and now Production Assistant Mau Mauricio who has been with her through the years.

Klarisse, first season of "The Voice's" 1strunner up, definitely proved herself worthy of the frontlines as she sang in her powerful alto-soprano.  Highlight of her performance was OPM single "Tila" by Lani Misalucha which she dedicated to her best friend Majella Di Rocco who has been with her good times and bad.

Morissette, The Next Big Diva, proved that she truly is what people say she is.  She brought the house down with "Flashlight" by Australian singer Sia which she dedicated to family friend Gene Concepcion.

Inspiring other Filipinos to also reach out for their dreams, TFC conducted a Birit King and Queen contest to put the spotlight on kabayans who can perform as well as the Birit Queens.

The winners of Birit King and Queen delivered. After an intense showdown, Gelo Bernal, and Queen Kitty Barrocan of United Arab Emirates (UAE) emerged winners. Bernal and Barrocan won cash prizes, one year subscription to TFC via OSN, plus the chance to represent UAE to a global singing competition.

From ASAP to the Philippine concert scene and now to the world stage, the "ASAP Birit Queens" continue not only to impress but also to inspire and show that the Filipino talent can certainly proliferate wherever Pinoys are in the world.  The next "ASAP Birit Queens" happens May 26 in Reno, Nevada, May 28 in LA, California and June 3 in San Jose, California sa June 3.  For tickets, contact,www.silverlegacyreno.com,www.musiccenter.org,www.sanjosetheaters.org.
