Z-Movie "Alive" Starring Korean Superstars Yoo Ah-in and Park Shin-hye Premieres September 8 on Netflix

Netflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service, confirmed the international premiere of #Alive as September 8, 2020, following its theatrical run in Korea.

#Alive tells the story of a mysterious virus outbreak that suddenly spreads throughout modern day Seoul and rapidly grows out of control. People struggle to stay alive when the unknown infection causes victims to eat each other, turning them into zombies.

Oh Jun-u, played by Yoo Ah-in, and Kim Yu-bin, played by Park Shin-hye, struggle to survive in an apartment complex from those infected with the virus. They are trapped alone inside their apartments without access to cellular data, Wi-Fi, text, or phone calls. Their only source of information about the outside world is the news on TV and what they can see from outside their apartment windows.

While they are neighbors, Jun-u and Yu-bin have opposite personalities. Jun-u is a typical middle-class boy who enjoys computer games and social networking. He utilizes technology to survive. Meanwhile, Yu-bin incorporates more traditional items like camping tools and telescopes to survive. With their different specialities, the pair work together to stay alive.

Yoo Ah-in is known for portraying diverse roles in movies and dramas including Veteran, Chicago Typewriter, Six Flying Dragons, and more. Popular actress Park Shin-hye is known for her roles in You Are Beautiful, Pinocchio, and Memories of the Alhambra.

The sneak-peek video provides an exclusive look at Jun-u suddenly discovering the zombie outbreak spreading to his neighborhood. From the window of his home, he witnesses the horrifying pandemonium as some neighbors become zombies and some try to flee.

#Alive, based on an original script of screenwriter Matt Naylor, is directed by IL CHO and produced by ZIP CINEMA and PERSPECTIVE PICTURES. It premieres internationally on September 8, 2020, only on Netflix.

This Friday (August 28), catch Howie Severino’s I-Witness documentary “143 COVID Free” airing on GMA News TV.

A major trading town that couldn’t lock down for even one day during the pandemic stayed COVID-free for 143 days.

In their first field foray in six months, Howie and his documentary team travel to northern Luzon to investigate how a busy rural community was able to do it.

Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya also happens to be the hometown of Xyza Cruz Bacani, the former DH-turned-renowned-photojournalist in Hong Kong whom Howie and his team first documented in 2014 at the start of her international career.

Xyza has since been traveling the world for her work, but got stranded in Bambang during the pandemic, forcing her to rediscover the town she left behind.

The film which also stars Henry Cavill (as Sherlock Holmes), Helena Bonham Carter, Sam Claflin, Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, and Susan Wokoma, is based on a series of books by Nancy Springer that re-imagines Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world by putting Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister at the heart of a series.

After a free-spirited childhood, Enola suddenly finds herself under the care of her brothers Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin), both set on sending her away to a finishing school for “proper” young ladies. Refusing to follow their wishes, Enola escapes to search for her mother in London. But when her journey finds her entangled in a mystery surrounding a young runaway Lord (Louis Partridge), Enola becomes a super-sleuth in her own right, outwitting her famous brother as she unravels a conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history. Gatorade Powers Philippine Basketball Action in First-Ever NBA Republika Playoffs Party

As the high-octane basketball action of the NBA goes underway in the commencement of the highly-awaited 2020 Playoffs, Filipino fans got a taste of what they’d been missing out on in the first-ever NBA Republika Playoffs Party

Held last August 17 on Facebook Live, the NBA Republika Playoffs Party is the latest result of the long and fruitful partnership between Gatorade and NBA Philippines. It featured a combination of authentic NBA entertainment, interviews with international basketball stars, and other interactive elements. Gatorade hosted two segments in the party, one of which was the “Path to Pro” interview segment, where NBA G League star and potential No. 1 draft pick Jalen Green shared his journey to becoming an NBA player.

The best advice I can give to aspiring Filipino basketball players is to stay in the gym,” said Green, with whom local Gatorade athletes also had the chance to talk and ask for inspiration. “Stay in the gym, really work, and really study the game of basketball.”

Local phenom turned international cager Thirdy Ravena, himself also a Gatorade ambassador, also shared some of his insights from his own journey to being a professional basketball player. “I definitely have a million things to improve on, as I know I’m going to be playing a smaller position than I was used to in college,” he said. “And you know I’m always trying to stay hydrated - shout out to the Gatorade family for making sure we have the fuel to perform at a high level.”

Another Gatorade ambassador, Ricci Rivero of UP Fighting Maroons also shared his thoughts on playing to represent the Philippines. “Getting the chance to represent the country is something that we should take as a privilege and not just an opportunity. Playing for the country is something that will boost our confidence and morality, it’s one of the best opportunities to be given to an athlete.” He also added, “like what Thirdy said, no promises but we’re going to give it our all.”

Another segment was the “Dunk Off,” where local collegiate stars competed in a virtual dunk contest for the fans. The winner received a year’s supply of Gatorade for themselves and an organization of their choice.

We’re definitely happy to fuel Filipino fans’ excitement for the return of NBA action through the Republika Playoffs Party,” said Mikey Rosales, PepsiCo Philippines’ Marketing Director. “Great sports action is something we all need during these times.”

Gatorade has been a partner of the NBA since 1984, of NBA Philippines since 2005, and of numerous local leagues and teams including the UAAP, PBA, and the MPBL, among others.
