Piolo Pascual Remains a Kapamilya, Releases New Song "Iiyak sa Ulan" Under Star Music

Piolo Pascual has dropped a heartbreaking track entitled “Iiyak Sa Ulan,” which will be the lead single off his upcoming album under Star Music.

“Iiyak Sa Ulan” is about one’s pain that he refuses to show and instead hides through the rain. Yet, despite its affecting message, it also offers a sense of hope that everything will eventually be okay.

The Kapamilya singer last released an all-original album, “Timeless,” in 2007 and a compilation album, “Decades III,” in 2012. He is known for his hit ballad songs “Kailangan Kita” and “Paano Ba Ang Magmahal.”

He will be seen next as a special guest in the upcoming episode of FYE’s “Dear Charo,” streaming on kumu on Monday (November 2) at 8pm.

Brother Philippines and SEA Institute Donate to Batangas Public Schools

In line with its continued thrust to promote environment-friendly practices and provide support for underprivileged communities, Brother Philippines once again partnered with non-profit organization the SEA Institute to donate printers and toners to public schools in the town of Mabini, Batangas.

The donation, which was done in two legs in September and October 2020, saw eight public schools from Mabini each receive a Laser Multifunction Machine, toner cartridges, and reams of bond paper for the teachers’ and students’ needs. SEA Institute President Robert Suntay was personally present for the turnover of the donations.

The eight schools were:

San Teodoro Elementary School
Mainit Elementary School
Bagalangit Elementary School
Panay Elementary School
Mabini Central School
Mainaga Elementary School
Talaga Elementary School
Solo Elementary School

The first four schools were chosen by the SEA Institute for their location near Barangay San Teodoro in the town, in which the organization has a reef monitoring and alternative livelihood program for the community. The latter four schools were chosen through coordination with the Department of Education.

We are extremely grateful to Brother Philippines for their generous donation of printers and toners to our partner schools in Mabini, Batangas,” said SEA Institute Activity Head Joseph Alfonso Ascalon. “These efficient and reliable laser printers will be a tremendous boost to the productivity and morale of the teachers in their pivot to modular lessons for their students. All the teachers were delighted with the capabilities of the printers and were confident that would be able to save valuable time.”

Brother Philippines first partnered with the SEA Institute in October 2019 for their Family Day and CSR activity. In its constant drive to do more for the environment, the company sought more relevant environment-friendly causes they could participate in, leading them to find SEA Institute and their marine conservation and community support objectives around the Verde Island Passage in southern Luzon.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's Relationship Gets Tested in "The House Arrest of Us"

Box office stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla reunite in Star Cinema's first digital movie series and play a newly engaged couple who get tested by difficult circumstances in "The House Arrest of Us," which started streaming on KTX.PH last October 24 (Saturday).

Newly engaged couple Korics (Daniel) and Q (Kathryn) get tested by difficult circumstances involving their respective families. As Korics formally asks for Q's hand in marriage following the Pinoy tradition of 'pamamanhikan' with his family, the two families' personalities clash in no time.

Koric's mother, Berna (Arlene Muhlach) dislikes the way Zenaida (Ruffa Gutierrez) and Slyver (Herbert Bautista) welcomed them in Q's house. Likewise, Zenaida and Slyver cannot stand Koric's family especially with the sudden arrival of Koric's second father, Papawan (Gardo Versoza).

Making things worse is the lockdown that the barangay imposes just when Koric's family is about to leave.

Will the lockdown force their families to mend their differences? Or will it trigger Korics and Q to end their relationship?

Riva Quenery, Anthony Jennings, Alora Sasam, Dennis Padilla, Hyubs Azarcon and Summer Ford complete the cast.

Fans can watch all 13 episodes for P499 and expect three fan conferences, as well as behind the scenes footage prepared by the cast, Star Cinema, and KTX.

Ricky Lee Shares 5 Storytelling Tips on from His iWant Docu "Trip to Quiapo"

For master writer Ricky Lee, writing is very much like life. His iWant TFC writing master class “Trip to Quiapo” fittingly illustrates this point by chronicling his colorful life story and journey to becoming a writer.

In “Trip to Quiapo,” based on his best-selling scriptwriting manual, Sir Ricky not only helps aspiring writers realize their storytelling potential and find their voice, but also shows viewers how writing can be a tool to make sense of the way we think and feel, and ultimately, to overcome our insecurities and challenges.

Here are five writing tips from Ricky Lee’s “Trip to Quiapo” masterclass that we can all apply to real life:

1. Be a good person in order to become a good writer

Sir Ricky stressed that in order to be an effective writer, one must have empathy for others no matter how good or bad or selfish they are. Empathy opens up your mind and heart to understanding your surroundings and the people around you. If you take the time to understand a person, you will also be able to see beyond their actions and have a deeper understanding of their emotions.

2. Read, read, read: Allow stories to connect you to the world

Reading different stories gives you multiple perspectives in life that may be useful in giving meaning to an array of characters. Experiencing these stories will help you look at the world with more appreciation, similar to how the power of fiction connected Sir Ricky to the world. When he was a kid, he felt like an outcast but was able to find refuge in a small library in his hometown where he would read books, “escape” his real life, and become somebody else.

3. Go back to being a child again

Just like how children are, do not be afraid to explore and use your imagination. Play with your instincts, let your thoughts flow freely, and do not allow people to tell you “no” because this is what will make your stories unique.

4. A writer heals as he tells a story

Going through the storytelling process allows the writer to grow as a person because he not only writes the story and gives life to the characters, but he also discovers more of himself. Just like what Sir Ricky always tells his students, “Stories help us heal ourselves, heal others. Kapag nagsusulat ka na ng kwento, sinusulat ka rin ng kwento. Nagtutulungan kayo para magbuo ng bawat isa.”

5. The journey of life is the ultimate teacher

Sir Ricky always reminds his students that attending writing workshops is helpful but will only be effective if you are constantly writing because this will allow you to take risks and learn from your mistakes, as if you are navigating through life. You have to remind yourself that the first draft is never perfect, and similar to the main character in any story, you have to experience failure and hardships in order to achieve your goals.

Learn about life and storytelling by watching “Trip to Quiapo,” which is available on the iWant TFC app (iOs and Android) or on iwanttfc.com to Standard and Premium subscribers worldwide. ABS-CBN Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 Asia Contents Awards (ACA) in South Korea

ABS-CBN continues to make its mark overseas as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in the 2020 Asia Contents Awards (ACA) held recently at Busan, South Korea.

The ACA, which recognizes outstanding TV and OTT drama series throughout Asia, conferred the honor to the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company for its significant contributions as a broadcaster in the Asian region.

In her acceptance speech, ABS-CBN chief operating officer of broadcast Cory Vidanes said the award came at an opportune time as ABS-CBN remains “undaunted in championing Filipino content globally” amidst the challenges it recently faced in the middle of a pandemic.

In the last 65 years, we have created an environment of innovation, nurturing all our content creators, producers, artisans and talents to embrace a new era of global excellence. I humbly share this award with all the men and women of ABS-CBN and with every Filipino we continue to serve,” Vidanes said in a virtual ceremony streamed on the YouTube channel of the Busan International Film Festival last Sunday (October 25).

This year’s ACA comprised of 10 categories and 11 awards and drew a total of 75 entries from 17 different countries in Asia. Apart from ABS-CBN, Amuse Inc. of Japan also received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Despite the non-renewal of its franchise to broadcast, ABS-CBN continues to serve Filipinos with entertainment and news content delivered on multiple media platforms such as cable, satellite, and digital, and remains committed to promote Filipino content to audiences all over the world.

Netflix Releases Julie Anne San Jose's “Rocket to the Moon” Song Cover, OST of the Film "Over The Moon"

Netflix Philippines has released on its Facebook and YouTube channels a song cover for “Rocket to the Moon,” the lead single of the Netflix Film, Over The Moon as performed by Kapuso actress-singer Julie Anne San Jose.

When I first heard about [the song cover], I got really excited since I have always been a fan of Netflix films,” shares Julie. “I'm happy and honored that they have chosen me to do a cover of ‘Rocket to the Moon.’ I hope I was able to give justice to the song and hope that fans like it!”

The magical music video features Julie singing her cover, as she’s surrounded by animation straight from Over The Moon and its colorful characters.

The [shoot] is different from the previous music videos that I have done since this time, there is an animation component,” she notes. “While filming, we used Chroma and I had to imagine that I was part of the movie and interacting with some of the characters of the film, which for me, was the most exciting part. The fun part was that everyone was humming the song, even the most macho crew on the set.”

“Rocket to the Moon” is originally sung by Chinese-Filipina actress Cathy Ang. She also voices the lead character, Fei Fei, a young girl who builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove the existence of the legendary Moon Goddess, Chang’e.

I admire how the song portrayed the character build-up of Fei Fei. The first part of the lyrics was full of self-doubt, then as the song goes on, you can now feel the determination and confidence of her character,” adds Julie. “Usually, my [music] style is R&B or ballad, sometimes I do rap covers. And doing a song cover of ‘Rocket to the Moon’ brought me back to the days where I was just a kid who had big dreams.”

I like the movie since it uses different components such as folklore and fantasy to explore and deliver values and lessons about grief, life, and love. The usual notion is that if it's an animated film, it’s for kids, but Over The Moon is also for the kids at heart,” continues Julie. “And as a Filipino, I know this movie is very relatable to us since Filipinos are known to be optimistic, that regardless of the situation we are in, we always find our silver lining.”

Over The Moon is now streaming only on Netflix.

About Over The Moon

Fueled with determination and a passion for science, a bright young girl builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove the existence of a legendary Moon Goddess. Award-Winning Writer Ricky Lee Reveals Storytelling Secrets and Journey in iWant TFC’s “Trip to Quiapo”

Award-winning writer Ricky Lee helps writers and aspiring writers jumpstart their story ideas by detailing the process of storytelling – from the conceptualization to the final draft – in the iWant TFC original docu series "Trip to Quiapo," based on his best-selling scriptwriting manual. Now streaming on the iWant TFC app and website.

Shot like a reality show, it is a five-episode master class where Ricky shares his knowledge about how to build stories, where to draw inspiration for them, and meaningful lessons from his life and over 40 years in the industry. "Trip to Quiapo" is directed by Treb Monteras, who co-wrote and directed the Cinemalaya 2017 Best Film "Respeto."

Enchong Dee is also featured in the series as Julio Manunulat, the representation of aspiring writers and storytellers who are struggling to put into words the ideas they have in mind, similar to how Ricky began his writing journey.

"Nung baguhang writer ako, hindi ko alam kung paano magsisimula. Marami akong pinagdaanan at pagkakamali bago ako natuto. At hanggang sa ngayon, natututo pa rin. At ngayon para sa inyong mga gustong matutong magkwento, susubukin kong ibahagi sa inyo ang mga karanasan at kaalaman ko matapos ang ilang dekadang pagsusulat. Pero ang actual na pagsusulat, baka hindi lahat matutunan dito dahil buhay ang gagawa nun," shares Ricky.

Aside from discussions, the series is also accompanied by cinematic visual storytelling of his life, how his passion for writing began, and why he intends to share his knowledge of storytelling with others.

As an adopted child who lost his parents at an early age, Ricky reveals that he had always felt like an outcast but was able to find refuge in a small library in Daet, Camarines Norte where he would spend countless hours reading books and eventually, where his passion for storytelling developed.

Stories connected me to the world."

"So I want to do it to other people also. Gusto kong gumawa ng mga pelikula na 'pag naupo sila sa front row, mababago ko ang buhay nila kahit for two hours lang," he adds.

Ricky also shares in the iWant TFC series the three types of writers and their different approaches to learning how to write – or go to Quiapo. As a child, he would read a lot about Quiapo, his dream destination that would become a symbol of his dreams.

"Para sa isang batang katulad ko, isang malaking katuparan ang Quiapo. Kaya noong nagsusulat na ako, Quiapo ang simbolo ng katuparan ng pangarap kong makagawa ng mahuhsay at matagumpay na script. At 'yun ang gustong puntahan ng tatlong klase ng writers – 'yun ang Quiapo."

Boost your creativity by watching "Trip to Quiapo" on the iWant TFC app (iOs and Android) or on iwanttfc.com. For updates, like www.facebook.com/iWantTFC, and follow @iwanttfc on Twitter and Instagram, and subscribe to www.youtube.com/iWantTFC.
