Angelica Panganiban Admits: "Ampon ako!"

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Angelica Panganiban, who recently met her American father in the United States, has revealed that she is an adopted child.

In her tell-all interview with “The Buzz” aired last Sunday, Angelica also divulged that her biological mom died 2 years ago. The actress’s mom was buried in Singapore where she paid her respects during All Souls’ Day last month.

Angelica only learned about her adoption on January 5 this year after taping her gag show “Banana Split.” She, however, confessed that, even before that, she already had doubts about her identity.

Nag-start na akong mag-doubt [kasi] bakit may lumalabas na ganoon,” she said.

According to the actress, when she finally found the courage, she told her cousin, “Alam mo feeling ko ampon ako.”

Her relative, she said, suddenly broke down and it was only then that she learned the truth.

Wala akong naramdamang galit. ‘Yong una kong naramdam nainggit ako kasi hindi pala ako part ng family na kinalakihan ko na parang sa akin ang perfect na ng lahat,” she said.

She explained that her adoptive mom might have been forced to keep it a secret after she entered show business. The actress said her adoptive family was only protecting her from possible negative reactions once the truth came out.

She added that they treated her well. “Never nilang pinaramdam na iba ako.”

Angelica also did everything to find her biological dad, Mark Charlson. She said her father did not try to find her because he thought that she and her mother had perished in a car accident.

This was how Angelica recounted her journey toward finding Charlson:

After kong kausapin ‘yong mama ko hindi siya sure kung ano talaga ang name ng daddy ko. So, ‘yong binigay niya sa akin walang first name. last name lang.

Then may isang tao doon na nag-post na never daw niyang makakalimutan ‘yong experience niya noong martial law sa Philippines from 1984 to 1986.

Sabi niya, ‘Yes, why?’

She first talked to her father over the phone on her birthday. She said he finally agreed to meet her last month.

Seeing her father and talking to him was like “magic.” The actress and her American dad spent five days together, and it was the “happiest five days” of her life.

She also gave him her first acting trophy as a gift. “Bilang siya ‘yong tatay ko, gusto ko na nasa kanya dahil sa kanya ako galing, sa kanya galing ang lahat ng ito.

Willie Revillame Reveals: Sarah Geronimo Transferring Soon To TV5

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Just September of this year, Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo signed an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN to clarify rumors that she will no longer renew her contract with the Kapamilya network.

Immediately after that, Sarah starred in her new TV project, a mildly hit kantaserye "1DOL" who only lasted for a month (35 episodes). Sarah felt really bad when people blamed her in the fate of her kantaserye. But despite that, she is reportedly being offered a movie opposite Gerald Anderson. But Sarah said she still doesn't know whether it will push through or not.

But in last Friday's airing of "Willing Willie", Willie Revillame, who is the closest person now to Vic del Rosario - Sarah's manager, announces with conviction that Sarah will soon transfer to the Kapatid network and will host a reality talent contest titled "Born to be a Star".

Watch the video below (Willie's announcement is at 7:15 - 7:27 frame):

Is Zanjoe Marudo Transferring to GMA-7 To Become Marian Rivera's Leading Man in 'Amaya'?

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (4)

It all started as a blind item, but in the famous fan forum website Pinoyexchange, netizens already named Zanjoe Marudo as the Kapamilya hunk actor who auditioned to be Marian Rivera's leading man in upcoming GMA-7 epicserye "Amaya".

In ABOUT SHOWBIZ column of Nitz Miralles in the previous issue of Pilipino Star Ngayon, she gave several clues which confusingly pertains to either Rafael Rossell or Zanjoe Marudo. To quote:

And in today's issue of the same tabloid, Nitz Miralles gave additional clues that made Rafael out of the choices. She wrote:

But pexmantra and feistymomma, PEX members, gave clues that strongly pointed to Zanjoe.

1. Zanjoe MaRudo, also in Kristine (transferring to avoid Mariel Rodriguez?)

2. based sa description na nagcocomedy, halos 2 shows lang naman ang comedy sa ABS--BANANA SPLIT and M3..--and i think, Zanjoe fits the description na nagcocomedy at nagdadrama din.

3. he comes from another field--modelling.

kat_md, another pex member, has this to say:

DinnoEreceFollow up BI: The possible move is supposedly for the EPIC search for someone's leading man. Do we hear warning BELLS just in case?
about 1 hour ago via web

popoycaritativo @DinnoErece Hmmmm... Ah! Alam ko yan.
about 1 hour ago via web in reply to DinnoErece

DinnoErece BI pa lang sa aking yung palipat pero pinaguusapan na ng 2 managers na sina @popoycaritativo at @leovdominguez so there must be truth in it
half a minute ago via web

^ zanjoe marudo daw..

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

All set for her first major lead role, Jessy Mendiola takes the bold step in the newest series set to grace the Primetime Bida block of ABS-CBN starting December 6, “Sabel.”

Reprising the role that has launched Snooky Serna as an actress in the 1981 Regal classic ‘Bata Pa Si Sabel,’ Jessy finally takes a big leap in her career after four years of waiting. “The wait was worth it. Ngayon po ABS-CBN has entrusted me with a role na masasabi kong hindi ko pa talaga nagagawa sa buong buhay ko,” Jessy expressed.

Jessy’s acting skills was noticed in ‘Your Song presents Boystown’ where she shared the screen with the Gigger Boys. After her first Your Song stint, projects came pouring at Jessy’s feet. She became a part of the hit series ‘Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo’ where she played the vital character of Christina, Coco Martin’s love interest. She was also part of Your Song presents GIMIK 2010.

After being paired with various male teenstars, Jessy is now teamed up with two of the freshest faces in the industry: AJ Perez and Joseph Marco.

AJ Perez, member of the Gigger Boys, shared that after hearing that he will be working with Jessy again, he wanted to start taping right away. “Gusto ko na agad magtaping when I learned that I will be working with Jessy. Naalala ko kasi noon sa Your Song presents Boystown, ang saya ng experience naming lahat. Kahit puro lalaki kami nun, nakakasabay si Jessy. Magaling makisama.”

On the other hand, Joseph, commercial model and a newbie in the grounds of the Kapamilya Network, is happy to be part of ABS-CBN’s newest gateway to primetime, “Masayang-masaya po ako na makasama sa isang Kapamilya project lalo po na primetime teleserye pa. First teleserye project ko po ito sa ABS-CBN.”

A formidable list of stars shapes the powerhouse cast of Sabel: Rita Avila, Raymund Bagatsing, Daria Ramirez, Tommy Abuel, Ron Morales and Glydel Mercado.

Under the direction of Don Cuaresma, ‘Sabel’ depicts the story of a young girl, Sabel, cursed with bad luck. As this young girl mature, she begins to fall into the traps of love. Sabel's elders believe that she is too young to get into a romantic affair, but Sabel feels otherwise. So she goes ahead and follows her heart - even if it means immersing herself into the complexities of love.

Watch Jessy bloom at her finest in ‘Sabel’ after ‘Shout Out’ on ABS-CBN premiering on December 6.

Chorus:
I've had the time of my life
And I've never felt this way before
And I swear this is true
And I owe it all to you!
Oh, I have the time of my life
And I've never felt this way before
And I swear this is true
And I owe it all to you!

Dirty bit!
Dirty bit!
I came up in here to rock
Light a fire, make it hot
I don't wanna take no pictures
I just wanna take some shots!
So come on, let's go!
Let's lose control!
Let's do it all night!
Until we can do it no more!

Keep on rocking to the sound
Turn it up and watch it pound
We gon' rock it to the top,
Until the roof come burnin' down
Get hot in here
The temperature
Has got these ladies
Getting freakier

I got freaky, freaky, baby
I was chilling with my ladies
I didn't come to get boogie
I came here to get crazy!
I was born to get wild!
That's my style!
If you didn't know that,
Well, baby, now you know now

Cause I'm
Havin'!
A good time!
With you!
I'm tellin' you!

Chorus: (x1)
Dirty bit!
Dirty bit!

All these girls they like my swagger
They call me Mick Jagger
I've been rolling like a stoned
Jet-setter, jet-lagger
We ain't messin' with no maggots
Messing with the baddest
Chicks in the club,
Honey, what's up?

Mirror, mirror on the wall
Who's the baddest of them all?
It's gotta be the apl
I'm the mack daddy, y'all
Haters better step back!
Ladies don't load your act
I'm the party application,
Rock it just like that!

This is international
Big mega radio smasher!
Cause I'm
Havin'!
A good time with you, I'm telling you!

Chorus: (x4)
Dirty bit!

Makati RTC Hears TRO Application of ABS-CBN Against "Willing Willie"

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

The Regional Trial Court of Makati City ruled today, December 2, to continue hearing ABS-CBN’s application for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against TV5 program “Willing-Willie,” allegedly a copycat of ABS-CBN noontime show “Wowowee.”

Judge Joselito Villarosa of Branch 66 of the Makati RTC, decided to push through with ABS-CBN’s presentation of evidence for a possible TRO amid motions raised by the defendants, including a motion to dismiss the case, a motion for Villarosa’s inhibition as presiding judge, a motion to defer the TRO hearings, and another motion requesting to drop TV5 President Ray Espinosa as one of the defendants.

Villarosa told both parties that he will decide on the various motions filed by the defense before he rules on the TRO application.

Atty. Bienvenido Somera, who is representing ABS-CBN, argued that there should be no delay in the TRO application proceedings since the Supreme Court has ruled that the filing of a motion to dismiss is not a ground for a court to stop hearing a TRO application.

Somera also argued against the motion to dismiss filed by the defendants by refuting their claim that this case is the same as that Revillame filed against ABS-CBN in the Quezon City Trial Court.

Somera reiterated that ABS-CBN’s claims against Revillame in the QC case were for breach of contract by the latter, as a talent. The new case, on the other hand, focuses on the infringement of ABS-CBN’s intellectual property by Revillame et al, as producers of “Willing-Willie.”

The 33-page complaint alleges that the “look and feel” of “Wowowee” were copied by “Willing Willie” through the imitation of the expression and execution of several elements of the program. These include the opening song and/or dance number led by its host, the singing and/or trivia game wherein contestants share their personal stories and then showcase their talents before playing the game, and the set design, stage, studio viewers’ seats lay-out, lighting, music, and camera angles of “Willing Willie,” which are strikingly similar to “Wowowee.”

In an earlier statement, ABS-CBN claimed that Revillame and company “deliberately and intentionally imitated Wowowee to steal the goodwill that Wowowee has built over the past 5 years of airing in ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN further said, “it filed case in good faith and simply to protect its rights under the law. It’s not motivated by ‘vengeance’ to get back at anyone. Infringement of Intellectual Property rights is a very serious matter akin to stealing another’s property. It’s also like plagiarism which the public has condemned in recent events. ABS-CBN has a valid case and we will pursue it in court.”

Revillame, meanwhile, was a no-show in the court hearing yesterday, where ABS-CBN executive Marilou Almaden, the Business Unit Head for the program “Wowowee,” took the witness stand for ABS-CBN.

The legal team of ABS-CBN is set to present more evidence as the hearing on the TRO continues tomorrow morning, December 3.

Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae, Jay Sean and many other international celebrities joined a new campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Alicia Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive. They agree to give up Twitter and other social media sites until $1 million is raised. This campaign started before World AIDS Day on Wednesday (December 1).

It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on. This is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention,” Keys said.

These international celebrities willingly let them being photographed in a coffin and filmed videos with a really superb concept called “last tweet and testament” which will be seen in ads.

Keys believes that the celebrities would make a good job of drawing people to pay attention to issues, so she got them to cooperate. According to her, “not one person said no”.

The charity accepts donations through bar-code technology and text messages.

GLEE Season 2 'Special Education' Recap

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

New Directions is finalizing their setlist for Sectionals and working around Kurt leaving. Puck helps find his replacement and ends up with Lauren who you may remember has been a vampire in a few episodes. When Emma tells Schue that his arrangements for the group have gotten predictable when Rachel, Finn and Mercedes get most of the songs, he decides to change things up a bit. He gives the solo to Sam and Quinn and asks Brittany and Mike to turn their performances into So You Think You Can Dance.

Rachel and Mercedes don’t really get to sing at all and Rachel is pissed. Schue snaps and yells at her for her bad attitude but I dunno Schue, I can see why she’d be mad. This is a competition. It means too much to rely on the mediocre singers of the group. It’s not her fault they suck most of the time. Plus, he’s kind of a hypocrite. He was happy to showcase the power singers before his crush told him to change. And while we’re at it, these are group performances right? Why can’t they all have a part and focus on the team work of it all? That’s what I miss from the early episodes.

Rachel is having a bad week. She finally finds out about Finn sleeping with Santana and everyone knew it but her. She’s understandably hurt by Finn and drags them both to couples counceling. With the entire group hating on her as usual and not having anything to do singing wise, she bonds with Kurt. Kurt isn’t fitting in with The Warblers and goes to her for advice when he’s not welcomed with open arms. Did he really expect to just walk in and take over? He’s going to audition for a solo and Rachel helps him prepare a nice ballad Don’t Cry For Me Argentina. Unfortunately for Kurt, he’s trying too hard. The Warblers are about team work and not who can be the loudest and most show offy.

The time before Sectionals is overshadowed with relationship drama. Finn and Rachel break up after she makes out with Puck, Emma gets married to Carl in vegas and Schue is all emo about it, and Artie thinks Brittany is cheating on him with Mike. But to be fair, Tina put that idea in his head. He was comfortable enjoying giving Brittany a magic comb to help her do well in her performances. It turns out she isn’t cheating on him and was just sad that she lost his magic comb. Oh Brittany.

After The Hipsters, a group of old people perform, The Warblers take the stage and boy do they shine. Okay, so mostly it’s Blaine but at least everyone is singing. And acapella is always very impressive. They sing Hey Soul Sister and it’s pretty amazing. At this point i’m convinced that they deserve to win over New Directions. It’s interesting watching Kurt take a back seat. Rachel is encouraging him from the audience and all of New Directions loves it. You know who doesn’t? SCHUE. What a hypocrite. The look on his face is really hilarious.

It’s finally time for New Directions to take the stage. It starts out with Sam and Quinn trying to belt out I’ve Had The Time Of My Life. Man. This is rough. Depending on them alone was kind of a mistake. But I guess they have to be fair. They verge into Valerie and a solo by Santana and it’s turned into a show. Brittany and Mike are out in front dancing in ways I can’t even comprehend, and the whole group is so upbeat. It’s a great performance overall but I really think if more than just three people got to sing, they would have won. It’s a tie and both New Directions and The Warblers are going to Regionals. New Directions celebrates by letting Mercedes and Tina sing behind closed doors with Dog Days Are Over.

Miss Earth 2010 Live Telecast on TFC

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

For the first time, Miss Earth Beauty Pageant, the largest and most widely participated in pageant produced by Carousel Productions headed by Ramon Monson, will be held in Saigon, Vietnam on December 4.

ABS-CBN Global, through The Filipino Channel, will telecast the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant on Sunday, December 5, at 9pm. Sixty-nine beauties from all over the world are entered in the Miss Earth contest this year.

The 2010 Philippine representative is Kris Psyche Orozco Resus, a fashion model and beauty queen from Infanta, Quezon. She won the Miss Earth Philippines title last April 25 at a water-themed event at the Aquatica in Manila Ocean Park. The Miss Earth contest promotes environmental awareness.

Resus, 22 years old at the time of her crowning, stands 5’6” and her vital statistics are 33-23-34. She is an Associate in Arts student at the University of the Philippines’ Open University, the fifth constituent university of the UP System located in Los Banos, Laguna. She bested 48 other candidates in last April’s pageant which focused on the protection and preservation of Mother Earth. She also won the Best in Swimsuit special award.

Last May, Resus and her court joined forces with EcoWaste Coalition at a public event held in Quezon City, Philippines to promote simple, yet creative 3R (repurpose, reuse, recycle) solutions to avert a potential garbage crisis after the Philippine national elections. The campaign was intended to repurpose, reuse and recycle the huge volume of campaign materials instead of burning and burying them which would, in turn, pollute many communities.
