"Charice and Sarah Geronimo would be great together." - David Foster

Posted by Posted by JED on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 , under | comments (0)

International composer David Foster said it would be great if Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo and international singing sensation Charice would do a project together.

In an interview with Steve Angeles of ABS-CBN North America Bureau, Foster said he finds Sarah amazing.

I love Sarah. Sarah's amazing and I think the two of them would be great together. I was in the Philippines and I wanted Sarah to come sing with me but she wasn't available and I'd love to meet her someday,” he said.

Reports said Sarah is working with a coach who is a friend of Foster. This fueled speculations that she will soon team up with Foster’s protege Charice.

Foster, however, revealed that he has not made contact with Sarah yet, but he is open to working with her.

Catch here the music video for Justin Bieber and Chris Brown’s "Next To You" which was shot at Universal Studios, California under the direction of Colin Tilley.

And yes, Bieber and Brown had a lot of saliva exchange encounters in the music video.

[Chris Brown]
You’ve got that smile,
That only heaven can make.
I pray to God everyday,
That you keep that smile.

[Justin Bieber]
Yeah, you are my dream,
There’s not a thing I won’t do.
I’ll give my life up for you,
Cos you are my dream.

[Bridge]
And baby, everything that I have is yours,
You will never go cold or hungry.
I’ll be there when you’re insecure,
Let you know that you’re always lovely.
Girl, cos you are the only thing that I got right now

[Chorus]
One day when the sky is falling,
I’ll be standing right next to you,
Right next to you.
Nothing will ever come between us,
I’ll be standing right next to you,
Right next to you.

[Chris Brown]
You had my child,
You make my life complete.
Just to have your eyes on little me,
That’d be mine forever.

[Bridge]
And baby, everything that I have is yours
You will never go cold or hungry
I’ll be there when you’re insecure
Let you know that you’re always lovely

Girl, cos you are the only thing that I got right now

[Chorus]
One day when the sky is falling,
I’ll be standing right next to you,
Right next to you.
Nothing will ever come between us,
I’ll be standing right next to you,
Right next to you.

[Bridge]
We’re made for one another
Me and you
And I have no fear
I know we’ll make it through

One day when the sky is falling
I’ll be standing right next to you
Ohh ohh ohh ohhhhh

[Chorus]
One day when the sky is falling,
I’ll be standing right next to you,
Right next to you.
Nothing will ever come between us,
I’ll be standing right next to you,
Right next to you.

Oh nah nah
Oh yeah
Stand by my side
When the sky falls
Oh baby
I’ll be there

You’ve got that smile,
That only heaven can make.
I pray to God everyday,
To keep you forever.

The 113th Independence Day in the Philippines on June 12 falls on a Sunday. So many are wondering if June 13, Monday, will also be the new June 12 and will be declared legal holiday.

Deputy Presidential Spokeswoman Abigail Valte reiterated that Malacañang will not be moving the Independence Day holiday from June 12 to June 13.

June 12 is an annual celebration Philippine Independence and is one of the listed regular holidays for 2011 under Proclamation No. 84 signed by President Benigno Aquino III.

Proclamation No. 84 eliminates the holiday economics policy, that moves holidays within the week to the nearest Monday, used by the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Moammar Gadhafi Used Injured Toddler as NATO Victim

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Foreign media was made to believe by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi media handlers that NATO airstrike killed almost 700 civilians and more than 4,000 wounded by NATO airstrikes including an infant.

Gadhafi's aides brought journalists to a farm on the outskirts of the city, where a man said his animals had been killed by a missile strike on Sunday. The said man also said that there's no people injured but other people in the area said they had heard children were hurt.

To validate this rumor, journalists were brought to a hospital in the center of the capital and taken to the bed of an unconscious infant girl hooked up to medical equipment who according to a man seating beside her was a victim of a missile strike.

However, a hospital staff member passed one of the foreign journalists a handwritten note on hospital stationery, which said in English: "This is a case of road traffic accident. This is the truth."

Another man in the hospital who presented himself as the neighbor of the injured girl - leaned over her and shouted "God, Moammar, Libya and that's all!," a common pro-Gadhafi slogan, and denounced NATO.

But during a media even later that night, that same man revealed that he was employed by the Gadhafi government's media operations team.

Jim Carrey Stars in Family Comedy “Mr. Popper's Penguins”

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

From the hugely successful family-comedy “Ace Ventura” films, Jim Carrey tends to animals once again in the heartwarming “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.”

Jim Carrey stars as Thom Popper in the live-action comedy event whose chilly relationship with his family heats up after he inherits six adorable, lovable and mischievous penguins. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, young Tommy Popper looks forward to the moments when, on his tiptoes to reach a ham radio in his bedroom, he can talk to his world-traveling father. Years later, Tommy is now Mr. Popper, a highly successful real estate developer in Manhattan. Amicably divorced from Amanda (Carla Gugino), with two children (Madeline Carroll and Maxwell Perry Cotton) he sees on alternate weekends, Mr. Popper lives the life of luxury in his ultra-modern Park Avenue apartment and is well on his way to becoming partner at his prestigious firm. That is, until the morning a final gift from Popper’s late father, a souvenir from Antarctica, arrives in a crate at Popper’s front door.

Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” says Jim Carrey, is a movie that “stands out because it’s like nothing else out there. And I still get to be me, kind of crazy and fun and edgy. Indeed, the film returns Carrey to the comedy style – and movie character – that catapulted him to global superstardom. And Carrey couldn’t be happier about it. “I wanted to do a movie that families are going to remember,” he explains. “Some people resist working with children and animals, for fear of being upstaged. But I love capturing the spark of innocence. And what is better than animals – penguins, in our case – and children to bring that out in us?

While casting the role of Mr. Popper, director Mark Waters and producer John Davis learned something rather surprising about Hollywood’s top talent. “I found out that actors and comedians love penguins,” Davis says. The producer found the perfect “Popper” combination of talents in Jim Carrey, the hugely successful star of such films as “The Truman Show,” “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” and “Bruce Almighty.” “Jim is a really talented physical comedian, but also an actor who’s able to generate a lot of heart,” Davis notes.

Luckily, Jim read the script, and was immediately excited by it. And he’s also a huge lover of penguins,” says Waters. That’s putting it mildly. “These penguins are insanely beautiful,” Carrey exclaims. “They are incredible creatures. There are few animals that make you feel love – that strike that kind of chord. It’s really difficult to be unhappy about a penguin. That’s one of the reasons I did this movie. Penguins are a kind of obsession with me. They are puppies, times ten!

Working with Jim is incredibly illuminating and fun,” remembers Waters. “Jim is much more than a master of comedic invention; he also has a rare kind of emotional accessibility. When we’re working on emotional scenes, his ideas are just as good as his comedic ideas.”

“Mr. Popper’s Penguins” opens June 17 in theaters nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

‘Happy Yipee Yehey!’ Leads Against Eat Bulaga! in Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (5)

ABS-CBN’s noontime offering “Happy Yipee Yehey!” (HYY) continues to beat GMA 7’s “Eat Bulaga” in Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

In May, “Happy Yipee Yehey” rated 12% vs “Eat Bulaga’s” 10.7% in southern Luzon, 16% vs 8.4% in the Visayas, and 14.1% vs 6.8% in Mindanao according to Kantar Media.

The most talked about show is also gaining ground in the north. An increase in “Happy Yipee Yehey!’s” Northern Luzon viewership was recorded in the previous months - 7.6% in May vs. April’s 6.6 %.

I’m so happy, yipee at yehey pa. We’re coming up with new games. Kung anong gusto nila iyon yung ibibigay namin,” said John.

Overjoyed Mariel shared, “Bonus na yung sa ratings. We just always have a good time in the show. I really have no words for this - thank you lang talaga sa inyo!

We praise and thank God for this.

The noontime show’s win is just a part of ABS-CBN’s continuous domination in the TV ratings game. The media giant actually conquered Philippine television in May with average audience share of ABS-CBN’s growing to 37% in May or six points higher than GMA’s 31%. Data from Kantar Media show that ABS-CBN’s primetime programs improved its average national audience share to 44% or a 16-point lead vs GMA’s 28%. While ABS-CBN experienced an uptick from 43% in April, GMA suffered a drop from 30% last month.

The noontime show's re-introduction of Pera O Bayong, new names, special numbers, including the host's funny antics and great camaraderie all add up to the fun which made viewers switch and have now found themselves hooked to watching it Mondays through Saturdays.

Laughter and surprises never stop when you’re with your favorite noontime barkada - hosts Randy Santiago, John Estrada, Mariel Rodriguez and Toni Gonzaga, and Bianca Manalo, Melai Cantiveros, John Pratts, Jason Francisco, Bentong and Matteo Guidicelli.

Join the entire country in saying "Happy Yipee Yehey!, Mondays through Saturdays, after Showtime on ABS-CBN.

“Mula Sa Puso” Wins in National TV Ratings

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

The whole country is definitely hooked with the intensifying story of the 2011 remake of “Mula sa Puso.”

The show, topbilled by JM De Guzman, Enrique Gil, and Lauren Young, has pulled away its lead from its rival show “Magic Palayok” since Monday, May 23, in National TV ratings based on recent data from Kantar Media.

It hit a high of 22% in average National TV ratings last Thursday (May 26) vs. 15.5% of GMA 7’s “Magic Palayok.” While “Mula sa Puso” is on an uptrend in the ratings, its rival show is on a downtrend from 15.8% last Monday (May 23) to a low of 10.8% last Wednesday (June 1).

“Mula sa Puso,” directed by Wenn Deramas, also remains to be one of top seven most watched TV programs nationwide this past weeks.

With this overwhelming response, the people behind the successful teleserye extend their deepest appreciation to all of its avid Kapamilya viewers here and abroad.

We’re very happy that the audience appreciates all of our hardships in ‘Mula sa Puso.’ They can expect a lot of exciting and heart pumping scenes in the coming episodes. They also need to watch out for new characters that will spice up the show even more,” said Executive Producer Mark Gile.

Now that Selina’s (Eula Valdez) evil deeds in the past have finally been exposed, viewers can expect more drama and thrill in the weeks to come. Watch out how Selina will take revenge on Magda (Dawn Zulueta) and the people around her.

After Fernando (Ariel Rivera), who will be Selina’s next victim? What could possibly happen next to Magda, Via, and Gabriel?

Don’t miss out “Mula sa Puso”, Mondays to Fridays, after “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” on ABS-CBN.

Prince William and Kate Middleton To Live In Princess Diana's Old Home

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Prince William and Duchess Catherine are to move into Princess Diana's old home.

The British royals - who tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29 - will embark on married life in a "modest apartment" in London's Kensington Palace, where William and his younger brother Prince Harry once lived with their late mother.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will split their time between the capital and their cottage in Anglesey, North Wales, where the 28-year-old prince carries out his duties as an RAF search-and-rescue pilot.

An insider explained: "They are really looking forward to moving in soon and having a base in the capital. Kate and William love the peace and quiet of Anglesey but they can't just stay holed up there for the next two years.

"The public want to see them, and it makes sense for them to have a base in the capital. They both love London have lots of friends there and it's a good place for Kate to get stuck into thinking about what charities she wants to promote and other work she might take on."

Until now, the pair had been living in the bachelor pad William formerly shared with Harry, 26, at Clarence House.

It is believed Kensington Palace will be the couple's base for about a year until a more permanent residence is found.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "After looking at a few apartments the couple decided this is the one they feel most comfortable in.

"Kate has enjoyed picking things out to decorate it and make it their home."

First Look: “Real Steel” Teaser Poster

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (1)

DreamWorks Pictures has just revealed the international teaser poster of “Real Steel,” a gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech.

In the film, Hugh Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next.

When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

Opening across the Philippines in October 2011 in IMAX, 2D and regular format, “Real Steel” is a DreamWorks Picture to be distributed locally by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

The Girls of “Prom” Defy Stereotypes

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Starring in Walt Disney Pictures' new dramatic comedy “Prom” are six of today's most promising young actresses. They are Aimee Teegarden, Kylie Bunbury, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang, Janelle Ortiz and Raini Rodriguez.

“Prom” portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite as the big dance approaches. For Nova Prescott (Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.”

Producer Justin Springer states, “Casting was top of the list for us in what we had to do to make a great movie. The big thing was finding great young actors. We spent a lot of time and put a lot of emphasis on finding the right actors for each of the roles.”

Aimee Teegarden (Nova Prescott, the “True Believer”). We all know the type…the straight-A student and head of the Prom Committee who makes it all look so easy—possibly because she is a perfectionist who pays obsessive attention to detail in everything she does. Nova is a born pleaser and rule abider who loves her family and wants them to be proud of her. She is passionate about every project she undertakes…but just can’t seem to see beauty in imperfection.

Kylie Bunbury (Jordan Lundley, “Born to Be Prom Queen”). Oh, to be Jordan…the most popular girl in school! There’s no question she was born to be prom queen and wind up with the hottest guy in school...one look at her will tell you that. But Jordan will soon find herself forced to go beyond her comfort zone and find out who she really is…and what she is really made of.

Danielle Campbell (Simone Daniels, “The Fresh Face”). Simone is the girl next door. Beautiful, friendly and accessible, Simone has no agenda - she is free-spirited and approaches life with an open innocence, appreciating the moment. Somehow this outwardly-and-inwardly beautiful girl has flown undetected under the teen-guy radar…until now.

Yin Chang (Mei Kwan, “The Perfect Partner”). Mei is a playfully artistic and stylish senior who has had a long, loving relationship with Justin - a sweet, smart guy who is an understanding, attentive and all-around great partner. They are the perfect couple for all the right reasons. Although Mei thrives on the security of her established relationship, a part of her yearns to experience what lies ahead and discover her own individuality. Their relationship is tested when a secret that could impact their future comes between them.

Janelle Ortiz (Ali Gomez, “The Gossip”). Nova’s gossip-hungry best friend is a buzzing ball of energy, sticking her nose into everybody else’s business, especially classmate Rolo’s - she’s the most skeptical that his Greek-Canadian girlfriend actually exists.

Raini Rodriguez (Tess, “Her Brother's Biggest Fan”). As her big brother Lloyd struggles to find a date for the prom, freshman Tess stays steadfastly by his side. Encouraging his every endeavor to ask a girl to the big event, she also isn’t shy about pointing out which of his tactics appear overly desperate and lame. And Tess is not about to let Lloyd blow off prom because he comes up dateless - she has an awesome contingency plan.

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Prom” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Now they're coming out one by one...

After his former housekeeper and assistant Mildred Patricia Baena, Danish actress-musician Brigitte Nielsen is said to be Arnold Schwarzenegger's other infidelity partner.

Nielsen admits that she got involved with the "sperminator" while filming their 1985 movie "Red Sonja". Although Schwarzenegger was not yet married to Maria Shriver, but the two were already dating at the time.

"How serious it was with [Maria], I don't know. He never spoke about her, and the way he was living his life with me, I felt I was the only one. Then I realized about him and Maria and, wow, I felt cheated. Maybe I wouldn't have got into it if he said, 'I'm going to marry Maria and this is dead serious,' but he didn't, and our affair carried on." Nielsen told the Daily Mail.

Adding, "Since we both knew that wouldn't last beyond the movie, we didn't hold back. We wanted to try everything and so we did. There were no restrictions, no promises, nothing, and it was a great time in my life."

Shortly after, Nielsen went on to marry Schwarzenegger's good pal - Sylvester Stallone.

"Patrol ng Pilipino" Probes Into The Fishkills

Posted by Posted by JED on , under | comments (0)

Batangas called for help first and then Pangasinan followed. These are the provinces affected by massive fishkills, which were caused by lack of supply of oxygen and congestion in fish cages.

Millions of pesos have been lost due to this problem, and now bigger challenges have surfaced as “double-dead” fish have reached Metro Manila markets.

This Tuesday, June 7, on “Patrol ng Pilipino,” ABS-CBN correspondent Dominic Almelor will dive into the roots of the fishkills and show how the government and the people are addressing the problem.

Meanwhile, look into the inspiring story of the people of Culion in Palawan in the report of ABS-CBN correspondent Chiara Zambrano. Previously known as the land of lepers, the place has erased the stigma and has become a haven for tourists.

See the stories behind the news on “Patrol ng Pilipino” this Tuesday, June 7, after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.
