After a coronavirus hiatus, CNN Philippines announces the return of New Day with “all the news you need and more,” starting Monday, October 19 from 6:00am to 7:00am.

New Day is your morning news program that sets the day’s agenda, bringing you stories that matter so viewers can stay informed, connected, entertained, and inspired. Catch up on the latest news here and around the world from the team you can trust: Ria Tanjuatco-Trillo, Andrei Felix, Christine Jacob-Sandejas and the newest member of the crew, Paolo Abrera.

While you could say this isn’t my first rodeo, I’m very excited to be back in the saddle with the New Day team," says Abrera. "Our world has gone through some big changes this year. The way we live, how we use technology, and the role we play in sustainability and the environment. All the rules have changed and were literally waking up to a New Day. I’m looking forward to sharing that journey with everyone."

Tanjuatco-Trillo has been leading the network’s morning coverage solo for several months. “I’ve missed having everyone with me on set, to serve our audience with news they can trust, day in and day out.”

As the sports guy on the team, Felix says, “I have been with New Day since it first aired back in February 2016, and being on the morning show delivering the news and information to our viewers first thing in the morning has been a huge privilege for me. And I’m equally thrilled to share the latest in sports under this new normal.”

With our new tagline all the news you need and more, we’ll make sure our viewers won’t miss a beat when it comes to what's happening in entertainment, what’s trending, the latest movies and hits from your favorite artists,” says Jacob-Sandejas.

New Day airs daily, Monday to Friday at at 6:00 a.m. beginning October 19 on CNN Philippines via Free TV channel 9, Sky Cable channel 14, Cignal TV channel 10, CNN Philippines Facebook Live and CNNPhilippines.com.

Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines 2020 Coronation Airs Sunday, October 18 on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live

Twenty-four young and passionate men and women determined to make a mark as ambassadors of the Filipino-Chinese community are set to make a big splash at this year’s Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines (MMCP), which will be aired and streamed live on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live, respectively, on October 18 (Sunday).

This year’s pageant features new changes in its format, as it will be held online for the first time because of the pandemic.

With the limitations, the organizers are replacing the traditional press presentation, cultural costume parade, and talent competition, with three virtual challenges designed to bring out the best in each of the 24 delegates in tree aspects - confidence, creativity and culture. The confidence challenge was held at the digital press presentation of the candidates where they were asked to give casual interviews, press interviews, and engage in a spoken showdown.

Contestants Don Tang, Alexi Enriquez and Julianne Yap won the Winners Circle’s Choice Award, while Beef Co and Cassandra Chan shared the Darlings of the Press Award.

The candidates were able to finish two more challenges that ended last October 11 (Sunday).

Witness the first MMCP online coronation on Sunday, which audiences can stream via Kapamilya Online Live from 11 AM to 12 PM and Kapamilya Channel from 10:45 PM to 11:45 PM.

The Mr. & Miss Chinatown PH, a project by the Miss Chinatown Foundation, Inc. and Fil-Chi Media Productions Inc. (Chinoy TV), aims to empower modern Chinese young men and women in their roles as proactive agents of social change and exemplary models of Chinese values and culture in the modern age.
