Alessandra de Rossi Finds New Love in Ivan Padilla in the Romantic Movie "12"

A movie about two people in love always has its audience. Majority of the viewers, if not all, most likely hope for a happy ending, but it's really how the story unfolds and the roller coaster ride and pull of feelings is one of the things you can expect, and more.

"12" tells the story of Anton and Erika, a couple who started out as friends for 5 years then became in a relationship for 7 years, making it a total of 12 years of being together. Anton is a commercial director, while Erika is a former band member who becomes his stay-at-home partner, lovingly and happily devoting her time taking care of her man. Finally, the day comes when he asks her to marry him... will they end up getting married and stay together forever?

Fresh from the tremendous success of "Kita Kita", Alessandra de Rossi plays the role of Erika with complete abandon, just like she is known to do in every performance. This film is an assurance that this award-winning actress really loves her craft despite her statement before about wanting to quit showbiz, which hopefully will not be anytime soon.

Playing Anton is newcomer Ivan Padilla who was seen as Hunter, Bela Padilla's boyfriend in "100 Tula Para Kay Stella", another blockbuster hit from VIVA Films. Ivan is related to the famous Padilla actors, but he's excited to show everyone in the Philippines that he deserves to be recognized for his own talent in acting. Just like Alessandra, he asserts that he has really put his heart and soul in playing his character.

In an interview, Ivan revealed that he won an award in a film festival. He acquired acting experiences in American TV shows, like "Dexter", and "CSI:Miami", "CSI:New York", and "The Closer", among others, and Hollywood movies like "Here Comes The Boom", with Salma Hayek. He is also adept in martial arts, particularly Jiu-Jitsu.

The chemistry between Alessandra and Ivan is something to look forward to in this romantic drama that is surely relatable to couples of today.

"12" is showing in cinemas nationwide starting November 8, 2017.

Tech Millionaire and Adventure Journalist Garrett Gee Inspires Students to Follow their Passion via "Discovering Routes"

What would one do with a million dollars? Or in this case, $54 million? Tech millionaire and travel journalist Garrett Gee was faced with this very question after he sold his app to Snapchat in 2014. The story behind his mind-blowing success, and what he is now doing with his life were the subject of his chat with students ofJefferson High School in Daly City, California, as part of a joint outreach by ABS-CBN International and Discovering Routes.

According to their website, "Jefferson has a reputation for high academic and athletic standards, despite its designation as an underperforming school. The Jefferson Staff encourages students to achieve at their highest potential, developing skills necessary to become life-long learners and productive citizens."

A Story of Success

As a sophomore at Brigham Young University, Garrett developed the app, Scan, with two other co-designers. Shortly after, legions of downloads followed its launch. This led to a TV feature on Shark Tank where he did not get the funding he sought. But as all great stories have their glorious endings, Scan was later acquired by Snapchat.

"I feel like it's one of those classic questions: 'What would you do with a million dollars?' It was a really cool and humbling experience to be faced with that question," Garrett admits to the class. And this was his plan, "Let's sell everything we own, go super minimalistic, and just travel for some time. Let's learn about different cultures, about different countries, and try to see what brings other people happiness all around the world."

This minimalist, vagabond-style of exploring the world paved the way for the two of his landmark projects: (1) The Bucket List Family– a social media documentation on Garrett's family and their travels; and (2) Discovering Routes – an original series from ABS-CBN Global Studios, that follows him and his sister, Miristi, as they return to their ancestral land.

Passion and Hard Work

Garrett's talk highlighted that through all the positive and fun things happening in his life,"it all goes back to the high school days and the college days when I just made up my mind to figure out what's right for me; that I need to follow my own passion. As long as I work hard at it, develop the skills, and don't get lazy, I think I can make it happen."

The Intro to Robotics class is the brainchild of Principal Mark Beshirs and teacher Joel BruxvoortRyan Adion, a senior at Jefferson High, was impressed by how the class was captivated by their guest speaker. "People who talk here, they come in suits, he's just dressed casually so I feel I can relate to him." Junior student Saul Molina chimed in, "It was pretty cool how he split the money equally," referring to how Garrett nontraditionally decided on dividing the profit from Snapchat evenly with his co-designers.

Beshirs and Bruxvoort are proponents for unconventional teaching methods. "I just see the smiles on their faces and their intent, and the really nice questions they asked. They start to see humanity, to see themselves,"shared Bruxvoort.

On his end, the tech rockstar confided that this was one of his all-time favorite talks. "I spoke at a lot of corporations and universities, but this is cool because when I entered into their classroom, I just saw a lot of people who remind me of myself back in high school, and I saw a lot of potential in them."

The talk was made possible by Daly City Arts and Culture Commissioner Dorie Paniza, with Jefferson High School Principal Mark Beshirs,and ABS-CBN International's Global Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Nerissa Fernandez.

A Beacon of the Filipino American Community

Consul General Henry Bensurto, Jr. of the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco made a surprise visit to the class. He presented Garrett with a certificate of appreciation for his philanthropy and goodwill. Bensurto expressed his gratitude to Garrett for having "contributed to raising the profile of the Filipino people, not only in his country but the entire world; and for inspiring the young generation of Filipino Americans to discover their Filipino heritage and connect with the country of origin of their parents.

A Quick Trek to TFC Headquarters

Prior to Garrett's talk at Jefferson High, he visited the Daly City headquarters of ABS-CBN International to film fun digital content forDiscovering Routes.  Extending his Philippine experience, Garrett's learning a bit of the language, still eating the food, and connecting with his roots.

Keep up with this adventurer and follow his journey. New webisodes on Garrett's exploits in the beautiful islands of the Philippines go live Mondays and Thursdays on www.DiscoveringRoutes.com. The Discovering Routes TV series can be seen around the globe on Myx TV and Lifestyle Network, and in the Philippines via Lifestyle TV.

Filipino-Australian Singer Elysa V Moves to Individual Bootcamp Audition on The X Factor UK

Elysa V was the only rose among the thorns during the group bootcamp performance at the Sunday’s episode of The X Factor UK. Along with three guys El'Tee, Brad Howard and Sam Black, the group started with the song Locked out of Heaven by Bruno Mars.

Not long after the performance, Simon Cowell raised his hand and made them stop. “This is not working, this is a bad song,” he said. “I’ll tell you what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna judge this acapella,” he added.

When Sam Black struggled to continue with the song, judge Nicole Scherzinger encouraged the group to help him out, and Elysa took the lead in the part of the chorus.

After the song, the judges had a long deliberation on who should move to the next round. It was noticeable that the judges were having a difficult time deciding as it was a hard song.

After the judges’ long conversation among themselves, Louis Walsh talked to the group. “This has been so difficult guys because the song didn’t suit you. Some people were better than the others, but you can see [that] we’ve had a really long conversation about everybody,” he calmly said. “So what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna give you all a chance,” he added.

Upon hearing the good news, Elysa V gleefully jumped out of excitement and rushed to exchange hugs with the rest of the group.

Before everyone left the stage, Simon Cowell shared a few words. “It was partly because of the way you’re all with each other. This is the last pass you get because [as] you go forward tomorrow, it’s your own choices now, there’s no excuses,” he said. “I think you all behaved really well and we’re happy to give you all another shot tomorrow,” he added.

Elysa V and the rest of the group is moving to the individual bootcamp auditions which will define their chance for the Six Chair Challenge.

The X Factor UK airs first and exclusive on RTL CBS Entertainment same day as the UK on Sundays and Mondays at 10:30am with primetime encores Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays at 9:00pm.

RTL CBS Entertainment is available on SKYcable channels 53(SD) and 196(HD), SKYdirect channel 35, Destiny Cable channel 53, and Cablelink channels 37(SD) and 313(HD).

“After having the chance to travel the world and meet people from all walks of life, I had realized that inspiring people by sharing my own stories and experience is what I wanted to do, and by writing this book, I believe I am doing just that,” wrote the 1997 Miss Universe-Philippines in her book.

She disclosed no nonsense recommendations for readers, whether for those who are starting out in their career and those in the far midst but needing cues on office etiquette.

“When you are meeting someone for the first time, you only have 6-8 seconds to make a first impression,” shared the former model. She highlighted the value of first impression to the company one is representing. “The moment you are identified as part of the company, clients will see you as the whole company, and that’s great responsibility.”

In a chance meeting, the author advised to say “good to see you again” and encourage conversation while trying to remember the name of a forgotten colleague. She said, “continue chatting general topics until you remember the name. If no such luck, be honest and ask for the first name.”

When dealing with clients, Abby stressed the importance of posture in exuding candor. She wrote, “as a professional, you should embody credibility so that clients would trust you. You could easily project it through proper posture.”

The author underlined the need to be tactful at all times in the professional setting. When there’s a need to correct someone, she suggested to “praise in public. Criticize in private. Trying to get respect by playing the bad guy or scaring your associates is an old tactic that will never work.”

Being in any profession requires eagerness to learn, to contribute and to collaborate. “If you don’t have enthusiasm, do something to possess it. Make yourself realize the importance of what you are doing and the contribution you are giving,” wrote Abby.

Wake, Die, Repeat: It's Your "Happy Death Day"

Bending the passage of time has long fascinated storytellers, and the construct of a time loop proves exceptionally compelling in filmmaking. A plot device in which hours or days are repeated and re-experienced by the characters, this loop offers the protagonist some hope of breaking out of the cycle of repetition.

Multiple films across various genres have elegantly pulled it off—from Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow to Richard Curtis' About Time. Now, time-bending gets tackled anew with surprising results in Universal Pictures' suspense-thriller Happy Death Day.

(Check out the film's new spot at http://youtu.be/_5Zzh6G-V-o and watch Happy Death Day in Philippine cinemas October 18.)

A veteran of penning unpredictable screenplays such as Disturbia and Paranormal Activity 2, Christopher Landon moved into the writer/director's chair for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. A filmmaker who has long shown a knack for staying away from disposable horror films, Landon is drawn to stories that hold a mirror up to society and simultaneously entertain and challenge his audiences.

Once he was presented with Scott Lobdell's story of Happy Death Day, the director couldn't help but think of a certain 1993 time-loop classic: "When I read the script, I had the immediate reaction that everybody does: 'This is the horror-movie version of Groundhog Day! Why has this not been done before?'" he asks. "That was when the light bulb turned on, because the concept alone was a slam dunk to me - it was just really clever."

Landon reflects on the challenges of a lead character reliving the same day repeatedly: "When you have to keep experiencing the same day over and over again, it is easy to fall into a trap. We establish the day and then we repeat it, so that the audience and the character understand what is happening. Once we do those things, we immediately take Tree off course. She starts to try to outsmart her own death - and in doing so - the story takes the audience to different places and gives them unexpected experiences."

Known for his innovative work on Marvel Comics' X-Men titles ("Daredevil," "Fantastic Four"), Lobdell offers that it was his aim to craft a story in which the lead had to solve her own murder. The writer explains: "Most teen slasher movies feature a series of victims being picked off throughout - once you are terrorized and killed you are never heard from again. I was interested in the idea of a character who gets to react to her death - one who can stalk her killer and who is given to opportunity to make the most of the last day of her life."

Landon offers that what appealed to him about making this project his next one is that the story represents equal parts humor and terror: "Our scares are scares, people definitely jump and scream, but the laughs are big, too. Comedy and horror, even though they make strange bedfellows, have a lot in common. The lay-up for a scare is very similar to the lay-up for a joke. If you are able to find the rhythm where you able to scare and then to make laugh - and continue to rotate between those two things - it is a lot of fun for the audience."

Happy Death Day is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
