Run for Fun and Food, and Do Good on Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and usually, people surprise their mothers with beautiful flowers, cards, gifts, and a special brunch or dinner treat. Been there. Done that. So many times.

This Mother’s Day, why not ditch the usual and go for something extra special? Here is a different, yet still fun, meaningful, and delicious alternative.

TFC Live presents TIKIM Filipino Food Fun Run, a one-of-a-kind 5K run or walk that celebrates culture and the value of giving back through loads of happiness and tons of food. Tikim is a Filipino word that means, “to taste.” This TIKIM takes place on May 13, Sunday, starting at 8:00 A.M. at the Coyote Point Recreation Area, 1701 Coyote Point Drive in San Mateo. The 5K course will have a Filipino food tasting station at each kilometer mark of the way. Get to run alongside some of your favorite celebrities from the Philippines: actor/singer Inigo Pascual, Star Patrol Anchor Gretchen Fullido, actor/model Jake Cuenca, and actress/singer/host Kim Chiu. These artists are sports enthusiasts themselves. It is no wonder that Cuenca and Chui played triathletes in their last soap opera, “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin” (Forever My Love).

Those who would like to go straight to the food festival may do so, starting at 10:00 A.M. Participants can check out the various food offerings many activities from TIKIM vendors and sponsors like County of San Mateo “Child Support Services,”  Guerrero Law Firm, Remitly, Financial Rescue LLC, XOOM, The Law Offices of John C. By registering and joining the fun run, each participant would have provided meals for 10 malnourished children. Imagine how many children all the TIKIM registrants will be able to feed. Three dollars out of each adult registration will go to Bantay Bata, so participants know that when they run and eat at TIKIM, they are also helping a needy child to enjoy nutritious meals.

The TIKIM Filipino Food Fun Run is open to all races, gender and ages. Categories are Adult Runners, Youth Runners and Food Festival participants.

Runners will receive a commemorative TIKIM t-shirt, race bib, an acknowledgement letter with the runner’s donation to ABS-CBN Foundation International, and a $5 food voucher, which can be redeemed at any of the food festival vendor booths. Ginebra San Miguel Launches 2018 Limited Edition "Ginebra Ako" Jersey Collection

The uniform makes the player – it is a known fact that in basketball, wearing the jersey exhibits more than just tools for recognition against the opposing team. From the colors to the sewn patches, the jersey serves as the representation of the team and all it stands for. This is the philosophy practiced by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

For the past four decades, the jerseys of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel have become the embodiment of the team – from its decorated history to its virtues.

Last year, the Ganado Classics: 3 Decade Jersey Collection celebrated the historical moments of Ginebra. Every jersey in the collection showcased remarkable Ginebra stories behind it like winning its first PBA title in the 1986 PBA Open Conference and bagging the PBA Governors’ Cup Championship in 2016 after an eight-year title drought.

Unlike last year where the jerseys were used to recount the past, Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI) has launched the 2018 Limited Edition Ginebra Ako Jersey Collection to make the present more meaningful. It also pays homage to the “Never Say Die” spirit the whole Ginebra San Miguel community is truly proud of.

The term “Ginebra Ako” signifies the team’s resilience, determination, and perseverance throughout the four decades of playing in the PBA. During these times, it is hard to miss that the fans have also embodied the aforementioned qualities. Exhibiting sheer dedication and true value to teamwork has essentially fleshed out a new and deeper meaning to being ganado, thus making them “more Ginebra”.

Aside from the “Ginebra Ako” statement, some of the notable designs embedded on the jersey are the four stars, which represent Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s four-decade stay in the PBA; and the crown, which depicts the team’s domination in both realms of basketball and the hard liquor industry (being the undisputed no. 1 selling gin in the world).

There are also three marks that verify the jersey’s authenticity. First, the Ginebra San Miguel Label Tag, the iconic Ginebra San Miguel label featured as the tag of every jersey embodies the long-standing heritage and culture the basketball team represents via the product. Second, the Patch of Authenticity with an embroidered signature of none other than the winningest coach in PBA history, Tim Cone, confirms the jersey is 100% authentic. Third, the ‘Never Say Die’ Patch located on the backside of the jersey features the team’s mantra and represents the team’s resilience, which they are popularly known for.

These limited edition jerseys will be worn by the team in the upcoming 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup starting April 2018.

To avail of the 2018 Limited Edition Ginebra Ako Jersey Collection, purchase and collect either six (6) seals of Ginebra San Miguel or Vino Kulafu; or four (4) caps of GSM Blue or GSM Blue Flavors, Primera Light Brandy, or GSM Premium Gin. Just add 100 pesos and claim your own “Ginebra Ako” jersey from any partner redemption outlets nationwide. Promo duration is from April 15 to June 15, 2018.

There are five collectible jersey designs to choose from: Japeth Aguilar 25, Scottie Thompson 6, L.A. Tenorio 5, Greg Slaughter 20, and Mark Caguioa 47.

Meanwhile, participants of the upcoming Ginebra San Miguel 3-on- 3 Tournament will also be wearing the new jerseys, wherein 16 teams from 16 different areas play against each other to become the next Ginebra San Miguel 3-on- 3 Grand Champions. The top two finalists will get to live their dreams and play at the Araneta Coliseum for the championship. The winning team gets to take home P50,000.

Sports advocate Mike Swift also known as “Mr. Pinoy Hoops” and his team will be painting murals depicting “Ginebra Ako” on every court that will be visited in the 3-on- 3 tournaments. The 3 rd Ginebra San Miguel 3-on- 3 Tournament will be done in partnership with the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

The 2018 Limited Edition Ginebra Ako Jersey Collection and 3-on- 3 tournaments are proof that after 40 years, Barangay Ginebra and their “Never Say Die” spirit is very much alive.

Piolo Pascual, Arci Muñoz, Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador Light Up “Kapamilya Fiesta World” Paris with 10 Memorable Moments

This year’s opening salvo for ABS-CBN Regional and The Filipino Channel’s (TFC) annual “Kapamilya Fiesta World” added to the much-anticipated festival’s history of merrymaking with 10 more moments that left almost indelible marks in the minds and hearts of the Filipinos in the City of Lights, Paris on March 31.

Starting off “Kapamilya Fiesta World”, an entertainment festival of the largest Filipino-owned media and entertainment network for its worldwide audiences called by the term of endearment Kapamilya or family member, and its rundown of memoirs that happened at the Les Docks de Paris on 87 avenue des Magasins Generaux at the 93300 Aubervilliers is no less than a showdown between “Kapamilya Fiesta World favorite Chinito Heartthrob Enchong Dee and fellow dance sensation, Her Majasty Maja Salvador to the tune of “Uptown Funk” by Filipino-American Hollywood star Bruno Mars. Together, they scored two mementos right away.

Dee provided a fitting segue via “Cup of Life”, the remix by Latino superstar Ricky Martin.  He went on to score milestone number three as he called on stage a lady who went by the name of Dee’s real-life pal Bea Alonzo’s iconic character in the movie “One More Chance”, Basha.

The highlights took an upswing further as Dee’s television partner Erich Gonzales of the “Blood Sisters” fame took to the stage.  Gonzales was a hit, making up for the afternoon’s fourth memorable moment as she reenacted her three characters on screen: the single mother Erika, the career-woman Carrie, and the rebellious Agatha.

Gonzales was three times the charm as she impersonated her characters and more so when she performed the soulful new age rock collaboration between Cold Play and Chainsmokers’ “Something Just Like This”.

Meantime, a much-awaited on-stage reunion for the love team who once starred in the coming-of-age “Katorse” in 2014 was waiting in the wings for the fans of the duo. When it finally happened, the Filipino fans reveled in the moment rightfully the sixth for the night, singing along with the two as they sang Chainsmokers’ “Closer” and Alison Krauss’ “When You say Nothing At All”.  Dee could not contain his excitement on stage: “It has been a while since we’ve been together on stage.”  The actor-singer-dancer-athlete added:  Thank you for letting us reunite on stage and with you as witness.”

Returning on stage was Salvador’s iconic protagonist cum antagonist characters on Philippine television Ivy Aguas / Lily Cruz from the widely followed “Wildflower” teleserye.  With the same intensity she put on in her showdown with on-screen villains, Salvador, put on her game face on as she regaled the audience with her performance of “Power” by Little Mix and “IDGAF” by Dua Lipa.

The eighth highlight for the night was “Since I Found You” leading lady Arci Munoz who joined the “KFW” stage for the first time.  The actress who is actually the band Philia’s lead act as well, impressed the audience as she sang rock classics “Sweet Child o’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, “You Give Love A Bad Name” by Bon Jovi and “Diamonds” by pop superstar Rihanna.

The Filipinos in Paris and nearby cities who were in attendance were in seventh heaven as the night’s fitting finale came up on stage – Piolo Pascual.  Proving that he continues to be the Ultimate Heartthrob, Pascual performed his own hit “Kailangan Kita”, Adelle’s “All I Ask” and the Elvis Presley classic “This Thing Called Love”.  Judging from the fan reaction, Pascual could be very well be milestone numbers nine and ten.

Proving that the night wasn’t over, the ABS-CBN stars revealed highlight no. 10 – the next “KFW” happening in Scotland on June 16, 2018 where a new batch of of ABS-CBN stars are set to create new memories with their countrymen this side of Europe.

From one highlight to the other, the 2018 “KFW” opener was truly one for the books.

Ryan Reynolds Invades Seoul South Korea to Promote "DEADPOOL 2" Movie

Ryan Reynolds’ recent tour (May 1) in Seoul, Korea sent the fans in droves in Lotte World mall to promote his latest “Deadpool 2” movie

Ryan Reynolds posed for pictures with the fans and signed memorabilia, even signed the masks of those who came in costumes and held the phones of the fans to take selfies with them.

Ryan Reynolds not only stars in the title role, he also co-wrote and produced “Deadpool 2.” “Ryan is an incredible comedic talent,” says Deadpool 2 director David Leitch, “and “Deadpool” works as a perfect ground for things he really excels at. He took that character from the comic books and made it his own brand. There’s a synergistic effect with “Deadpool” and Ryan. He really is Deadpool in real life – in terms of the way he talks and sees the world, sometimes. He’s funny and irreverent but also has a huge heart and compassion, like Deadpool.”

The Plan is Priceless in "Ocean's 8" Main Poster; Showing in PH Theaters on June 13

Warner Bros. Pictures has just revealed the main poster for its upcoming heist thriller “Oceans 8.”

Check out the one-sheet art below and watch “Ocean's 8” in Philippine cinemas June 13.

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Gary Ross directs the film starring Oscar winner Sandra Bullock in the title role, alongside Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, with Rihanna and Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter.

Five years, eight months, 12 days...and counting. That’s how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) has been devising the biggest heist of her life.

She knows what it’s going to take - a team of the best in their field, starting with her partner-in-crime Lou Miller (Cate Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose (Bonham Carter).

The target is a cool $150 million dollars in diamonds - diamonds that will be around the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Hathaway), who will be centerstage at the event of the year, the Met Gala.

The plan is rock solid, but everything will need to be flawless if the team is going to get in and get away with the ice. All in plain sight.

“Ocean’s 8” also stars James Corden as an insurance investigator trying to put the pieces together, and Richard Armitage as Kluger’s unwitting date at the Gala.

Ross directs from a screenplay he wrote with Olivia Milch (upcoming “Dude”), with Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik producing, Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Sandra Bullock, Diana Alvarez and Bruce Berman executive producing, and Milch co-producing. Filming is taking place in and around New York City.

“Ocean’s 8” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

In recent years, people have seen the first primetime Emmy wins for writers and performers of Asian descent with Riz Ahmed, Aziz Ansari, Alan Yang, and Archie Panjabi, and there are more performers of Asian descent on television than ever before. However, while there are increased on-camera opportunities for AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) performers, their storylines remain limited. There is a large representation gap behind the camera as well.

As the entire U.S. celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, panelists from across television platforms and professions will discuss the state of Asian American voices in the industry. The conversation will be centered on performers, storytellers, casting and where we go from here for better representation in television.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was founded in 1946 - just one month after network television was born. It is a nonprofit organization devoted to the advancement of telecommunication arts and sciences and to fostering creative leadership in the telecommunication industry.

The Television Academy, the only major organization devoted to the television and broadband screen entertainment industry, is made up of over 24,000 members, representing 30 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various other artisans, technicians and executives.

ABS-CBN's “Precious Hearts Romances Presents Araw Gabi” Beats GMA-7's "Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka"

Viewers nationwide warmly welcomed the start of ABS-CBN’s newest drama “Precious Hearts Romances presents Araw Gabi” on afternoon television and hit a national TV rating of 15.7% versus its rival program’s 13.5%, based on data from Kantar Media.

Aside from getting strong viewership, Precious Hearts Romances series’ comeback and JM De Guzman’s return to television opposite newest leading lady Barbie Imperial also conquered Twitter, with the show’s official hashtag #ArawGabiPagsibol trending nationwide.

JM’s acting is still impressive. He can pull of the troubled mysterious guy without being creepy. He does his role so well plus he is also handsome,” said @cessyloveJM.

Twitter user @garciabaeretto also commended JM’s performance and tweeted, “Slow clap for JM de Guzman. Nothing changed. As a matter of fact his acting improved. We are so proud of you @1migueldeguzman.

Meanwhile, @gianIndon shared “I think I'm in love with @1migueldeguzman and @barbieeimperial after watching #ArawGabiPagsibol. I never thought they will have a good chemistry just by watching the first episode.”

Not into teleseryes but I'm pretty sure #ArawGabi is gonna be an exception! The pilot episode was so ‘nakakakilig,’” @shineninay said.

The teleserye’s pilot telecast gave a peek to the lives of cheerful advertising manager, Mich (Barbie Imperial), and the very strict boss, Adrian (JM de Guzman). The two started on the wrong foot and continued when Adrian disapproved Mich’s proposal for his resort.

However, Mich did not lose hope and decided to improve her presentation by going to El Paraiso.

What awaits Michelle in El Paraiso? What will she discover about Adrian?

Don’t miss “Precious Hearts Romances presents Araw Gabi” weekdays after “Asintado” in ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold.

JoshLia Stands Up Against Online Bashing in New OPPO F7 TVC

If there's anyone who has had more than their fair share of online hate, it would be popular celebrities who came of age in the social media generation, just like Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia. "Bashers," or individuals who seem to gain pleasure in leaving unsavory commentaries on social media, often flock to high-profile accounts like those of Barretto, Garcia, and other showbiz personalities.

Barretto, who belongs to an oft-controversial celebrity clan, is used to seeing nasty messages and comments disparaging her looks, talents, and personality online. She has had countless bashers tell her that she might have had work done on her face, that there is no talent behind her pretty face, and that she's another vain artista. Barretto confronts these negative statements in her new commercial for the OPPO F7, where she is joined by Garcia to convey an uplifting message.

"This project with OPPO is so timely," she said. "Standing up against online bashing is something that Joshua and I feel is relevant because the audience will be able to relate to it. I think a lot of them are curious about how celebrities deal with negativity directed at us online. I'm so glad that OPPO has allowed us to share this story with more people."

"Nangyayari talaga 'to sa amin," agreed Garcia. "And the message of the commercial is really uplifting because people might say a lot of bad things about you online, but you shouldn't feel bad about yourself because the people who know you in real life will know the real deal, the real story, and will always value you for being who you really are."

Capture the Real You

The teen love team—who have made fans swoon over their romantic films Vince & Kath & James, Love You to the Stars and Back, and Unexpectedly Yours—are part of OPPO Philippines' impressive roster of endorsers. Barretto and Garcia are the stars of the mobile leader's latest campaign which highlights its upcoming flagship OPPO F7.

"For me, the F7 ang pinaka-magandang model ng OPPO to date," Garcia shared. "All the features we want in a smartphone, they brought together in one unit."

The features that Barretto and Garcia love the most in the OPPO F7 are the best-in-class 25MP front camera for the most flattering and natural selfies, the advanced AI Beauty 2.0 Technology, and the Super Full Screen for a truly immersive mobile experience.

Apart from the impressive features of this new flagship smartphone, OPPO got Julia and Joshua on board with the line "Capture the Real you"—a message that the two young celebrities related to.

Barretto said: "This is the first time that I had a project that tackled this reality, and it's one that empowered us to voice out how we really feel about online bashing."

OPPO Public Relations Maanger, Eason de Guzman is also happy to have the love team as the faces of its newest campaign. "Julia and Joshua are among the hottest stars in the country, but that popularity comes with a price. We're glad to have them in the OPPO family and to have them speak their mind against online bashing and promote our philosophy of capturing the real you to a wider audience."

'They should stop'

To their credit, the love team does not reciprocate the hate they receive from bashers.

"I feel like the bashers should stop. Their lives will be more positive if they follow the golden rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Focus on yourself, improve, and figure out how you can be a better person. For those suffering from online bashing, it's a waste of energy to dwell on the negativity. Shrug it off. You know who you are and don't let other people tell you otherwise," Barretto advised.

"We can't really stop the bashers from doing what they want," Garcia thoughtfully replied to his on-screen partner's statement. "But I suggest that bashers think of their victims. ABS-CBN Wins Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals at 2018 New York Festivals

ABS-CBN DocuCentral's documentary "'Di Ka Pasisiil" on the Marawi siege won a Gold World Medal at the 2018 New York Festivals World's Best TV & Films (NYF), leading the Kapamilya winners in the prestigious competition.

Reporters Jeff Canoy and Chiara Zambrano received the award in a ceremony held in Las Vegas, USA yesterday (April 10). The documentary won the top award in the category of Coverage of a Continuing News Story.

The country's leading media and entertainment company also won a Silver World Medal in the Cinematography category for the documentary "Local Legends: Bandurria" of ANC, and a Bronze World Medal in the Station/Image Promotion category for ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management's "To Love and To Serve" campaign.

In his Twitter post, Jeff dedicated their award to their fellow reporters and soldiers and civilians in Marawi, where he and Chiara broke news from the warzone.

"Still surreal. This Gold World Medal from the New York Festivals is for our troops who fought the fight, for the people of Marawi who continue to show us courage & for our fellow Filipino journalists who continue to tell our stories like only we can," Jeff stated.

Chiara also vowed to continue following their stories as they heal from the physical, mental, and emotional wounds brought to them by the war.

"This award we share with all of these heroes, and this is also our commitment to them that we will stick by them and continue to tell their stories as they rebuild their lives," she said in her acceptance speech.

"Di Ka Pasisiil" first aired at 3:30pm on August 13, 2017, three months after the siege of Marawi began. The documentary told stories about how the war changed the landscape in the Islamic state and how the government's brave soldiers defended Marawi from the terror group.

A "Mukha" episode of the same title, which featured personal accounts of Jeff and Chiara as they covered the war, also made it as finalist in the NY Festivals.

ANC's "Local Legends: Bandurria," meanwhile, focused on the life and craft of a master guitar-maker in Pampanga, while "To Love and To Serve" poetically expressed the love of a "Kapamilya," and how ABS-CBN is committed to serve Filipinos through its various services and products.

These NY Festival awards add to the growing number of recognitions received by ABS-CBN News in 2018 for its programs, campaigns, anchors, and journalists.

Recently, ABS-CBN won Best TV Station at the Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc City Campus (EVSU-OCC) Student's Choice Mass Media awards for the fourth time. Of the 17 awards given, the Kapamilya network also took home eleven trophies including Best News Program for "TV Patrol," Best Morning Show for "Umagang Kay Ganda," and Most Influential Public Service host for "Failon Ngayon" host Ted Failon.

Acclaimed Thriller “A Quiet Place” Grosses P41.7

Paramount Pictures' A Quiet Place posted a five-day opening weekend gross of P41.7 million in the Philppines, becoming the studio's second most successful launch for a horror-thriller, after 2013's World War Z.

Arriving with some of the year's most positive reviews, the Emily Blunt-starrer directed by her real-life husband, John Krasinski, has riveted local film critics with some already calling it "the year's best horror-thriller."

American reviewers have also likened it's success to that of the Oscar-winning thriller Get Out, and there is already talks of possible Academy Awards nominations next year.

In the U.S., A Quiet Place earned an additional $32.9 million in its second week of release, bringing its cumulative domestic gross to an impressive $100 million.

"The speed with which 'A Quiet Place' has raced to the $100 million mark is a testament to the film's ongoing appeal and a result of terrific word of mouth," said Paul Dergarabedian, a film analyst at comScore.

In the modern horror thriller A Quiet Place, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival. If they hear you, they hunt you.

Paramount Pictures in association with Michael Bay presents a Platinum Dunes Production of A Quiet Place, directed by John Krasinski and starring Emily Blunt, Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. The screenplay is by Bryan Woods & Scott Beck and John Krasinski from a story by Bryan Woods & Scott Beck. The producers are Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller and the executive producers are Celia Costas, Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Bryan Woods, Scott Beck and Aaron Janus.

A Quiet Place is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
