ABS-CBN Still Undisputed TV Station in the Philippines in May

ABS-CBN brought relevant news and values-laden stories to more Filipinos last May as it recorded an average audience share of 45% versus GMA's 32%, according to data from Kantar Media.

The Kapamilya network won in both rural and urban homes, particularly in Metro Manila where it garnered an average audience share of 41%, compared to GMA's 26%, and in Mega Manila where it registered 36%, beating GMA's 34%. ABS-CBN also ruled in Total Luzon with 41% versus GMA's 35%, in Total Visayas with 54%, compared to GMA's 25%, and in Total Mindanao with 52%, while GMA only got 30%.

Multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.

"FPJ's Ang Probinsyano" (40.7%) kept its throne as the country's most watched program in May, followed by LizQuen-starrer "Bagani" (32.4%).

With the Network's continued search for different contents from all around the world, they are bringing a new culture that the Filipinos will truly love.

Martina and Paolo find themselves in a compromising situation after a blurry night, and months later they find out that she is pregnant. With the pressure of producing an heir, will Paolo turn his back on Cathy and answer to his responsibility as a father? Meanwhile Martina also meets Rafa, and they become each other's confidante. Will this newfound friendship help their personal struggles?

Anne Hathaway Plays the “It Girl” in “Ocean’s 8”

The target of Sandra Bullock's all-women scheme in "Ocean's 8" is The Met Gala, but they won't be taking cash.  Instead, they plan to steal the Toussaint: a unique diamond necklace so valuable it stays locked away in an impenetrable vault in the bowels of the Cartier mansion.  The key is to convince Cartier to let it out of the vault.

And the only way to do that is to put it around the neck of this year's designated Gala Chair: current "It girl," Daphne Kluger, whom Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway plays to perfection.

Hathaway reveals that she first heard about "Ocean's 8" from an unusual source.  "A maître d' at a restaurant told me that Sandra Bullock was doing a new 'Ocean's' movie with a female cast, and I remember thinking, 'That sounds like the best job ever,' because I loved the earlier movies.  And then [director] Gary Ross called me and said, 'I have a diva for you to play.'

"It was so much fun becoming someone who occupies a world I know so well, but hopefully isn't anything like me," she laughs.  "Daphne is a bit wild and over-the-top…and she's a lot smarter than people realize."

"Annie embraced her role with so much force and gusto and delivered such a bold performance in terms of how far she was willing to go," says Ross.  "She is an amazing person, as well as a talented actress.  We had a terrific time."

Hathaway shares, "Gary and I have been wanting to work together for a long time and it was wonderful creating this character with him."

The opportunity to work with a cast of actresses became a major draw for Hathaway who concludes, "Making a movie is a certain kind of shared experience, but when it's you plus seven other women, there is so much more common ground to start with.  That created an effortlessness in working together that made it so much fun."

About "Ocean's 8"

Five years, eight months, 12 days...and counting.  That's how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) - just released from prison - has been concocting the greatest heist of her storied career.
She knows what it's going to take - a team of the best in their field, starting with her former partner-in-crime Lou (Cate Blanchett).  Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose Weil (Bonham Carter).

The target is $150 million in diamonds - diamonds that will adorn the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Hathaway), who will be center stage at the event of the year, The Met Gala.

Their plan appears rock solid, but it will need to be flawless if the team is to get in and get away - all in plain sight.

In Philippine cinemas June 13"Ocean's 8" is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Thousands of Kids Get New School Bags Through Operation Sagip's "Gusto Kong Mag-Aral" Project

Thousands of Filipino children are going to school this June with greater hope and excitement after receiving brand new bags and school supplies through the “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” project of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Inc.’s (ALKFI) Operation Sagip.

Like last year, Operation Sagip has been going around different elementary schools in the country to distribute learning kits to students and further inspire them to pursue their education.

As of May 30, the team has already given away 62,892 bags to school-aged children in provinces as far as Abra in Luzon, Samar in Visayas, and Tawi Tawi in Mindanao. A total of 105,000 kids are expected to benefit in the project this school year.

Jun Dungo, the head of ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service and director of Operation Sagip, thanked donors for once again supporting the “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” project, and for believing in the mission of the campaign.

The future of the country is in the hands of our youth. We hope that through this project, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya is able to help ensure a bright future for the nation by encouraging our children to learn, stay in school, and finish their studies. None of these would be possible if not for the continued support of our partner-individuals and organizations,” he said.

While “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” was launched only in 2017, Operation Sagip has been active in championing the education of Filipino youth through its classroom construction projects and “Ronda Eskwela,” a project similar to “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral.”

Apart from the areas mentioned above, the project has also reached Mountain Province, Occidental Mindoro, Apayao, Ilocos Sur, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna in Luzon; Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Leyte, Bohol, Biliran, Eastern Samar, and Iloilo in Visayas; and Lanao Del Norte, Sulu, Bukidnon, Surigao Del Norte, Surigao Del Sur, Davao Oriental, Zamboanga Del Norte, and Compostela Valley in Mindanao.

10 Ways to Jumpstart a Healthier, Happier Digestive System

The world’s leading 1 digestive health products - Essentiale® Forte P and Dulcolax® - join hands in a campaign to make our digestive systems happier and healthier. Together, the two brands take action on World Digestive Health Day on May 29th, reminding people about the importance of keeping their digestive system happy and healthy.

So how do you keep your gut healthy and happy? Let us count the ways:

1. Junk the junk. Avoid eating processed foods (chips, cold cuts), breads and pastas.

2. Go for gold. Probiotic foods feed the good bacteria in your digestive tract. So what should you go for? A plant-based diet would be good. If not, make sure you have more nuts and seeds in your diet. Check out pistachios, bananas, garlic, onion, wheat, oats, quinoa, millet and chia.

3. Avoid unnecessary drinking of antibiotics. Taking antibiotics may have a negative effect on the bacteria and other microbes living in your intestines. Antibiotics may kill healthy bacteria. Before taking antibiotics, ask your doctor questions about then and do some research. Get a second opinion if possible and don’t self-medicate.

4. Keep your liver in check. Instead of steaks and fried chicken, opt for taking in less fats from your food as these can lead to having too much fat stored in the liver. A fatty liver is a sign of an unhealthy digestive system and will affect your entire health. Keep your liver in check with Essentiale® Forte P. It that contains essential phospholipids that repair damaged liver cell membrane, regenerate lost phospholipids and restore normal functions of the liver 3 , keeping your liver healthy for a happy digestive system.

5. Take a good probiotic. Probiotics are micro-organisms that provide health benefits when consumed. Probiotics help with digestion and stimulate the immune system. They rebuild intestinal flora for better digestive health for kids. It also stops diarrhea symptoms and addresses other intestinal issues. Consult your doctor to learn more about the benefits of Probiotics!

6. Water is important. Hydration is the key to having a healthy digestive system. Constipation is often the result of dehydration in the colon. Drinking at least 8 16-oz glasses of water a day will ensure that your stool will be soft and easy to pass.

7. Taking a laxative helps. Frequent constipation is a sign that your digestive system is in poor health. If you haven’t moved your bowels in days, don’t just suffer. Dulcolax® stimulates bowel movement and softens hard dry stool to treat constipation and other bowel irregularities. Dulcolax®, the world’s No. 1 laxative 4 , ensures you have a happy tummy ensures that you’ll have a happy tummy in the morning.

8. You’ve got to move it. Regular exercises like brisk walking or running will get things moving, so to speak. Allot at least 10 minutes a day to exercise. Make it 15 mins daily if you can.

9. Chill, don’t stress. Your work life is stressful enough; find time to chill and relax. Don’t bring work home. Find little pockets of relaxation throughout the day. For instance, when it gets to be too much, do some breathing exercises for a few minutes. Stress can affect the health of your digestive system.

10. Get enough sleep. If eight hours of sleep is not doable, make sure you get six hours every night. Lack of sleep can cause gas and poor digestion.

If you build and maintain a healthy and happy digestive system, your quality of life will be better, too. If you skip the bad habits and embrace the good ones, you will have less health issues and a healthier, happier life!

Make sure you regularly consult your doctor if you feel any symptoms.

Chris Pratt, The Alpha Male Takes on "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" Showing in PH Theaters on June 6

Chris Pratt has firmly secured himself as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men.  He most recently returned to the wildly popular role of Star-Lord in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Now, Pratt reprises his iconic raptor master role in Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the sequel to the 2015 global megahit Jurassic World.

Says director J.A. Bayona, “Chris created an amazing character, providing Owen Grady with genuine charm and comedy.  He has an honest inner strength that somehow communicates to the audience that he will always do the right thing.”

Pratt shares what about this series continues to resonate with audiences: “The success of Jurassic World starts with the success of Jurassic Park.  The original movie is just so beloved.  It captured the imagination of an entire generation, and there was a world hungry to see a new version of this story…one with all the technological advancements that have been made in filmmaking since 1993.”

Working with Bayona proved a rewarding experience for Pratt.  “J.A. is a huge movie buff,” the performer says.  “He particularly loves a movie with an edge, and he’s bringing that to this film.  He is playing, not so much with what is there but what might be around the corner.  These movies are all about science, imagination and suspense.  J.A.’s a master.

Very few in the Jurassic world can understand the brutal physicality of one of these films, so Pratt appreciated the chance to collaborate once again with Bryce Dallas Howard.  “I’m teamed with Bryce, who has an incredible work ethic; she is passionate about every step of the process.  Combine that partnership with our director’s vision, and we’ve got a pretty good handle on what we need to make this the best Jurassic adventure it can be.”

Claire and Owen have been living separate lives, but are reunited for a common goal.  While she has made it her mission to protect and save all the creatures, she knows that what will get Owen back on the island is the chance to rescue Blue, the Velociraptor to whom he has the closest connection.

Much of what’s happened between Claire and Owen is unspoken, but they’ve gone through traumatic experiences together at Jurassic World and have each handled that differently,” reflects Pratt.

Owen believes there is no way to make yourself feel better; you have to move on and live your life.  To bury yourself in guilt like Claire’s done is wrong, and for Owen to ignore what they’ve gone through is also flawed…so they need one another.  You see that these characters are drawn to one another and destined to be together…but circumstances have not allowed that to happen.

Pratt’s role required a great deal of stunt work, and there was many a night after filming that his bruised self fell into a deep sleep.

This is more physical than the first movie,” Pratt says.

There were a lot of stunts; I’ve rolled out of the back of trucks, gone diving, ran down mountains and did underwater stunts.  We’ve also got huge fight sequences. They’ve taken the action-hero element that worked in the first movie and quadrupled it.

In Philippine cinemas June 6, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.  Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/uipmoviesph/

Ian Veneracion Holds Early Father's Day Event by ASCOF Forte Menthol Syrup and Wish 107.5 on June 8 at Eton Centris Walk

In front of the cameras, Ian Veneracion has always been lauded for being a professional and effective actor. But outside the showbiz spotlight, he still gains the utmost respect and admiration of his fans by fully embracing his life as a family man - a wonderful dad to three kids and a loving husband to his wife.

Now, the multi-faceted Ian Veneracion, who’s also a painter and extreme sports advocate, gets to play still another interesting “role” - as a musical artist.

On June 8, Friday, Ian is set to perform a song inside the Wish 107.5 Bus which will be situated at Eton Centris Walk in Quezon City. Presented by the country’s no. 1 natural cough remedy ASCOF (Vitex negundo L. Lagundi Leaf) in collaboration with hit FM radio station Wish 107.5, the on-ground event will start at 4 p.m., with Veneracion’s guesting slated at 7 p.m.

A musician by heart, Ian has, in the past, written songs and played instruments like the piano and the guitar. But it was only recently when the versatile entertainer decided to take things up a notch with the release of his bluesy debut original single “We’re All Alone,” which Wish 107.5 describes as an “ode to solitude.”

Ian likewise mounted a successful first solo concert in Cebu dubbed as “Ian in 3 Acts,” the Manila leg of which was held last May 13, Mother’s Day, at Resorts World Manila.

Aside from an on-air musical delight from Ian, attendees of the early Father’s Day event will also be treated to games and other surprises like ASCOF’s “Who’s Your Cough Character” booth, where special prizes await lucky participants.

ASCOF, the innovative and pioneering herbal cough remedy in the Philippines, is made from 100 percent organically grown Lagundi leaves, making it a natural and effective remedy for mild to moderate cough and bronchial asthma. Its Menthol Syrup variant, either sugar-free or regular, has a “hagod-menthol” soothing effect for cough with sore and itchy throat.

When Ian was officially launched as its brand endorser, he proudly claimed that his cough remedy of choice had always been ASCOF Forte Menthol Syrup.

“PascualLab, the maker of ASCOF Forte Menthol Syrup, has constantly advocated for raising strong and healthy families, at the core of which are our beloved fathers. On Father’s Day, we would like to say ‘thank you’ to the very special men in our lives with a musical tribute.

For this, we can’t think of a more exceptional talent than our own Ian Veneracion, who, amid the many hats he wears, dons the hat of being a father best,” says ASCOF Forte Brand Manager Alan Levi Farinas.

Everyone is welcome to join us at the Centris Walk, on June 8, Friday, for a wonderful time of music and surprises with Ian Veneracion, ASCOF Forte Menthol Syrup and Wish 107.5.
