"Wonder Woman" Overtakes "Batman V Superman" as Biggest Warner Bros. Movie in PH Theaters

It’s official: An Amazonian princess has bested both the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight at the Philippine box office.

As of last Saturday, July 1, the P520.5-million cumulative box-office gross of Wonder Woman has overtaken the lifetime gross of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to become the biggest Warner Bros. Movie of All-Time. This was announced today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.

`Wonder Woman' has shown tremendous staying power and repeat business at the local box-office, and we could not be prouder of the film,” says Soliven in making the announcement. “The story of Diana, as played by the incomparable Gal Gadot, has resonated across all demographics and continues to inspire moviegoers. We are truly grateful to the fans and critics for embracing Wonder Woman.

The film's success in the Philippines is mirrored by its exceptional performance in the U.S. where just four weeks after it bowed, the superhero origin story has outperformed all the previous entries in the D.C. Extended Universe franchise, including last year’s Batman v. Superman, Suicide Squad and Man of Steel.

The Amazonian’s success story is all the more astounding when considering global movie revenues. The movie has made more than $660 million worldwide despite still awaiting release in over 12 countries. When all markets are accounted for, Wonder Woman has the potential to cross the $1 billion mark.

Now playing across the Philippines, “Wonder Woman” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

DZMM Leads in Metro Manila Radio Survey, Launches New Programs "Good Vibes" and "On The Spot"

In its bid to provide the best mix of informative programs to its audiences, DZMM recently launched two new afternoon programs, namely “Good Vibes” with Niña Corpuz and “On The Spot” newscast anchored by Vic Lima and Toni Aquino that will be simulcast on radio, digital TV, and cable TV.

“Good Vibes” is a health and wellness show that runs daily, Monday to Friday, from 1pm to 2pm, while “On The Spot” gives a rundown of news highlights and issues of the day from 4pm to 4:30pm. Both are simulcast on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 on AM radio and DZMM TeleRadyo on cable TV and ABS-CBN TVplus.

Meanwhile, DZMM also led in the latest AM radio survey released by Kantar Media for the period of March 14 to 20, 2017 in Metro Manila. ABS-CBN’s flagship AM radio station garnered an audience share of 46% in the AM band with almost half of AM radio listeners choosing to tune in to the station. A far second is DZBB with an audience share of 20%, followed by DZRH with 11%.

With “Good Vibes” and “On The Spot,” DZMM hopes to sustain its AM leadership as it continues to strive to provide Filipinos with timely and relevant information as they go about their daily work and home routines.

Set in DZMM TeleRadyo’s brand new studio, “Good Vibes” celebrates positivity by providing informative health news, practical home keeping tips, interesting features for the moms, young and the old, and medical information straight from different health experts. Dra. Luisa Puyat also joins every Thursday to share her own medical expertise and give updates on DZMM’s Teaching Learning and Caring accomplishments.

Formerly of the show “Magandang Gabi Dok,” anchor Niña relishes another opportunity to serve more people and help bring happiness to the homes of Filipinos.

’Good Vibes’ is all about public service. We want to help people make their lives easier and care for their families better, especially senior citizens. People tend to forget our elders so this program will address their needs so that they can enjoy their lives more,”  she shared.

“On The Spot,” on the other hand, aims to make people aware of what’s happening all over the country as Vic and Toni present reports from the ABS-CBN news gathering team, Radyo Patrol and Regional reporters assigned in different beats and locations in the Philippines. Delivered in a conversational manner, news reports are much easier to digest and understand for the people in the program.

Stay tuned for other news and public service efforts of DZMM, which is celebrating the 10th anniversary of DZMM TeleRadyo this year. For updates, tune in to DZMM 630KHz on AM radio or DZMM TeleRadyo on cable TV and ABS-CBN TVplus. For updates, follow @DZMMTeleRadyo on Twitter and Facebook.

Filipino Actor Jacob Batalon is Tom Holland's Bestfriend in "Spider-Man: Homecoming"

Besides being your neighorbood superhero Spider-Man, high school student Peter Peter (Tom Holland) has an ordinary life to lead – helped out by his best friend, Ned, played by Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon, in Columbia Pictures’ new action-adventure Spider-Man: Homecoming (now showing in Philippine cinemas).

While many of the actors in Spider-Man: Homecoming have experience with the behind-the-scenes demands of promoting an MCU film, Batalon is making his motion picture debut. (Not a bad way to start one’s career.)

He got his first taste last year at Comic-Con, which culminated a long casting process. “The gravity of it didn’t sink in until we went to Comic-Con,” he says. “I could see how much fans love this character and go crazy for him. I’ve never felt an energy like that – and knowing that they support us really made me feel great. The first super hero film I saw was the first Spider-Man and those first films were such a big part of my childhood. It’s hard to explain what it feels like to know that you’re now part of building that story.

In the film, Ned Leeds is Peter’s best friend and confidant. But when Peter begins his journey into the solitary world of Spider-Man, it leaves Ned as more of an outlier than his best buddy. “Ned’s very sweet, genuine – well, I guess you’d say he’s nerdy,” says Batalon. “He loves technology. He’s super-duper smart. And all he wants to do is be Peter’s right hand man. It is very tough on him not knowing what Peter is keeping from him – he finds it very frustrating and thinks that Peter is just getting too cool for him, like when you think you may lose a person who’s very important to you at one point in your life. So when Ned finally finds out Peter’s secret, it’s the greatest thing in the world for him – it’s going to be so cool having Spider-Man as his best friend.”

The relationship between Peter and Ned is probably the most important relationship in the movie because Ned is the only person who Peter confides in and talks to about being Spider-Man,” says Tom Holland. “Tony Stark and Happy Hogan seem a little distant, so Ned is almost like a shrink that he can just really let it out to.”

And, Holland says, that’s similar to their off-screen dynamic. “Since day one, Jacob and I hit it off immediately. Director Jon Watts sent us off on some tasks to sort of start bonding, but we didn’t really need to do that. We were already really good friends and we just gelled, and it’s exactly what happens in the movie.”

Even though Batalon was not the most experienced actor who was up for the role, co-producer Eric Hauserman Carroll says it was an easy call to cast him. “He brought an authentic, high school innocence,” he says. “He really is this young kid who’s super excited about everything. That came through in his screen test and auditions and translates perfectly to the way Ned Leeds would be excited about finding out that his best friend is Spider-Man. And he was the perfect Ned Leeds -- the entire crew loved him, he hugged every single person on his way to and from set, and he became the unofficial mascot of the production.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Pambansang Bae Alden Richards surprised fans as he took on a different kind of leading role in his latest TV commercial with McDonald’s. Stay Fully Charged Anywhere, All-Year Round with PROMATE TECHNOLOGIES Complete Set of Right Power Solution

World's leading retailer of electronic devices and enhancements - PROMATE TECHNOLOGIES - gives the best, complete and reliable solution to keep your gadgets charged up and ready for any adventure.

Whether you’re at home, office, school, going out of town or out of the country or planning to spend a lot of time in the great outdoors you need to have the right power solution on hand to recharge your devices.

Who doesn't love using their gadgets? In this day and age, not having a smartphone is almost like having a handicap for a working professional. Still, no matter how expensive or high tech your gadget is, it is still powered by a battery that needs to be recharged eventually, otherwise it would be of no better use than a very pricey paperweight. That is why power banks have become almost inseparable from our gadgets,” says Dimple Condes, Country Manager of Promate Technologies.

And while you can find a power bank just about anywhere these days, it is important to know how to choose the right one for you so as not to put your precious gadget at risk,” she added.

Here are some quick tips on how to choose the best portable power supply/power bank for your needs:

First and most important is you need to know about the battery size and the charger specifications of your gadget, you can find it printed on the box. This is because you need a power bank that should have at least the same capacity of your device battery to ensure that your battery gets fully charged at least once with the power bank. If your phone frequently runs out of battery, get the highest mAh power bank that you can afford so that you have enough battery stored for emergencies.

Promate has power banks of different capacities such as the Tag-6 with 6000 mAh; Tag-9 with 9000 mAh; Zenith-10 and Polymax-10 both with 10000 mAh; Tag-15 with 15000 mAh; and the Promate ProVolta-21 with 20800 mAH.

For those who usually bring a smartphone and tablet, a 10000 mAh powerbank is a safe choice for a power bank just like the Promate VolTag-10. The Promate Voltag 10 lithium polymer power bank is lightweight and has ultra-fast USB charging ports that lets you charge two devices at the same time. The Automatic Voltage Regulation feature provides optimum output based on the device connected. It also comes in four colors black, white, pink, and light blue to complement your style or mood.

Those looking for a higher capacity power bank should be contented with the Promate ProVolta-21. This 20800 mAh power bank can charge up to 3 devices simultaneously and has a max 3.1A output and a fire proof ABS body.

Now, if you are going for a more outdoor trip, say maybe mountain climbing or camping with small appliances, Promate has a MIGHTY solution. The Promate Mighty is indoor/outdoor Heavy-Duty Emergency Power Station with an unbeatable 60,000 mAH of power offering a one-stop solution for all your charging needs. The 200w inverter provides 230v AC mains power to run appliances such as TVs and laptops. It can fully charge laptops 3 times, or 20 full charges for smartphones.

Depending on the number of devices you carry, choose one that has several ports or cables so you could recharge more than one device at a time, saving you the trouble of having to wait for each one to finish.

The ProVolta-21 for example has several USB Ports with LED Flash so you can charge up to 3 devices simultaneously. The ProMate PolyMAX-Uni meanwhile includes replaceable Micro-USB and Type-C cables for Android gadgets as well as a Lighting Connector for your Apple device.

With its costly price tag, you have to consider your gadgets as a valued investment so it’s best to get a power bank that comes with a power-cut power feature in the event of a short circuit. All ProMate power banks have automatic voltage regulation designed to protect your device from getting overcharged.

Lastly, it is better to spend a little more on a power bank from a reputable brand to save you further costs. Get your Promate power banks from authorized sellers such as Silicon Valley, Lazada, National Bookstore, Abacus, Electroworld & Abenson to ensure that you are getting the genuine thing and be entitled to the full warranty.

Promate thrives on creativity and we are devoted to finding a solution for all your digital entertainment and personal computing demands. Just like the rest of our lifestyle technology products, we are committed to strict quality control procedures to ensure that all our products are of the highest standards,” says Condes.

Liza Soberano Gets a 'Hero's Welcome' From Pinoy Comic Book Fans at ToyCon 2017

Fans gave Liza Soberano a ‘hero’s welcome’ fit for this generation’s newest Darna as the sought after actress graced the recently held ToyCon 2017 at the SMX Convention Center, where ABS-CBN also formally launched the Ravelo Komiks Superheroes merchandise.

Liza drew the loudest cheers as she formally opened the event via a ribbon cutting ceremony alongside international stars such as Stefan Kapicic from “Deadpool,” Lindsey McKeon from “Supernatural,” Karen Fukuhara from “Suicide Squad,” Charlie Bewley from “Twilight,” and Kevin Mcnally from “Pirates of the Carribean.”

I’m very happy to be with people who keep our comic industry alive because this is where Darna really started,” said Liza.

Aside from ToyCon attendees, Liza also got the chance to finally meet the Ravelo family when she visited the Ravelo Komiks Superhero booth that featured not only Darna, but also Captain Barbell and Lastikman merchandise plus the licensed statues of Darna, Captain Barbell, Lastikman, and Valentina.

They were really warm and they welcomed me to the Mars Ravelo world. I am really happy to meet them and I hope one day I can pass the legacy and make them proud,” shared Liza.

As a gift, the Ravelos gave Liza the first four panels of the first Darna Komiks with a dedication that read, “The magical stone has been passed on to many and after a long search, luckily you have been chosen to continue Darna’s courage and greatness. Thank you for accepting!

To cap off her visit, Liza had a meet-and-greet with select fans and gamely posed with them for selfies.

Another highlight in the ToyCon 2017 is awarding of the Pinoy Pop Culture Icon to Mars Ravelo for his significant contributions in the comic industry.

When asked what she thought of portraying Darna, the young actress admitted that doing action is totally new to her and that she is excited to start filming the project.

I am very excited but I am also nervous because it’s the first time that I would be doing anything like this. I have always been doing romance and comedy films. Doing an action film for the first time is something different and something I am excited to tackle. I am very excited for everyone to watch it,” she explained.

Watch out for Liza as she takes flight as the newest Darna in the movie to be directed by Erik Matti under the production of Star Cinema.

Erich Gonzales Receives, Accepts Expensive Coffee Date Invitation of Networking CEO Xian Gaza

Erich Gonzales has accepted the coffee date invitation of young millionaire Xian Ganza only if ABS-CBN writer and host Darla Sauler will join them.

In a message to writer Darla Sauler, Erich, who is currently in the US, said: "Hi Darls!!! How are you? Hahaha!!! Ang cute ng effort ni Kuya. It's fine. Let's see when I get back. There's nothing wrong naman if we talk over coffee, pero dapat kasama ka. Hahaha!!!"

Last Sunday, a photo of the billboard located in Morayta circulated online. It had the actress' real name – Erika Chryselle Gancayco – and it said: "I can't even espresso how much I like you a latte. Will you drink coffee with me?"

The billboard was put up by Xian, who according to his Instagram profile is the Chief Executive Officer of the Guanxiqian Group based in Hong Kong. On his social media accounts, Xian said he met Erich in January while he was about to watch a movie. He even posted a photo of them together.

While some netizens applauded Xian's for his bold move to ask Erich out, others questioned his motives and said it was improper to put anyone on the spot. Some also described the move as "creepy" and "manipulative."

Xian earlier posted photos of the makeup set he plans to give to Erich. Those photos have since been deleted.

Tony Stark Mentora Peter Parker in "Spider-Man: Homecoming"

Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark takes Peter Parker (Tom Holland) under his wing in Columbia Pictures' Spider-Man: Homecoming, the new action-adventure that brings Spider-Man of the comic books to the screen alongside Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes for the first time.

Spider-Man: Homecoming picks up the action directly following the epic battle scene of Captain America: Civil War, with Tony Stark returning "underoos" back home to Queens.

"Peter really believes he has a mentor in Tony Stark, and Tony really likes Peter, but he can't be babysitting this kid," producer Kevin Feige explains. "Tony gives Peter a little bit of rope to see what he can do on his own."

Peter believes that his "internship" with Stark Industries is merely a prelude and test toward becoming a full-fledged member of the Avengers – but the spider needs to learn to crawl before it can fly, as Holland explains: "We go back in time to relive the Civil War splash panel fight from Peter's perspective. We see him having the time of his life. He's on a private jet with Happy, he's staying in this crazy beautiful hotel room to suddenly him being crammed on a subway late for school. No one's called him to give him another mission. That's the contrast: the kid at summer camp is suddenly the kid back at school."

"Tony becomes a kind of father figure to Peter," says Holland. "Peter's trying to prove himself to Tony that he is old and wise enough to take on bigger tasks, but Tony keeps putting him down and telling him he isn't ready yet. I think that's what really drives Peter to possibly go down the wrong path, before he figures it out and we see why Peter Parker is the most beloved and powerful super hero of the MCU."

And Iron Man himself vouches for the casting of Peter. "Tom Holland is just the perfect man for the job," says Downey. "He's enthusiastic, bright and gifted, a very physically talented guy by virtue of his dance and acrobatic background. He has just the right combination of elements required to bring a new take on the character."

"The energy of Tom Holland meeting Robert Downey Jr. for the first time was exactly what we wanted out of Peter Parker meeting Tony Stark," says Kevin Feige. "The audition scene was the bedroom scene in Captain America: Civil War, and so we wanted to continue that relationship between Peter Parker and Tony Stark that we set up in the film."

In Spider-Man: Homecoming (in Philippine cinemas Thursday, July 6), thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter Parker returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark. Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened. His moment has arrived as he is challenged to become the hero he is meant to be.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Resorts World Manila (RWM) Resumes Gaming Operations on June 29

Resorts World Manila (RWM) resumes its gaming operations on June 9, Thursday. This after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) lifted the June 9, 2017 suspension order of RWM’s provisional license to operate casinos and other gaming facilities.

The decision came after RWM presented to PAGCOR its Casino Security Protective Action Plans. RWM passed the PAGCOR inspection that recognized how the enhancements and new emergency, safety and security protocols have been fortified since the June 2, 2017 incident where the lone gunman Jessie Carlos barged into the hotel-casino and set gaming tables ablaze, triggering fires that suffocated guests and employees.

With PAGCOR’s assistance and guidance, we can now start the difficult task of rebuilding as it is also our responsibility to take care of our 6,000 staff and personnel,” said Kingson Sian, RWM president and CEO.

We are bringing back the gaming operations on the ground and third floors of our integrated resort. The second floor will no longer be used for casino operations and will be utilized for other non-gaming purposes instead, Sian added.

RWM engaged the services of an international security outfit Blackpanda to tighten the external and internal security protocols. Sian said that RWM remains committed to putting in place the best security and safety measures available and will constantly review for upgrades as new technology and developments require. RWM has also committed to further intensify its coordination and joint drill sessions with the PNP and BFP for various emergency situations.

Kathryn Bernardo to Marry Daniel Padilla in 10 Years Time

Giving her fans the green light to let their imagination run wild, Kathryn Bernardo said she would marry Daniel Padilla if her "La Luna Sangre" co-star asks her 10 years from now.

Whilst guesting on "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, Bernardo was thrown the question: "Halimbawa, 10 years from now, DJ goes to you and says, 'Will you marry me?' Is that a yes or a no?"

Without hesitation, Bernardo exclaimed: "Yes."

Spider-Man Comes Home to Marvel Cinematic Universe in Fun-Filled Action-Adventure

Peter Parker strives to join the Avengers as the most popular character in comic book history takes his rightful place as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure Spider-Man: Homecoming (in Philippine cinemas Thursday, July 6.)

Marvel's crown jewel, Spider-Man made a cameo debut in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War last summer; the overwhelming positive reaction by both the critics and fans to the new vision for the character has whetted the appetite as now, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios team for this new adventure.

Embraced all over the world, Spider-Man now comes home in a film with a fresh, fun tone and new take, produced by Marvel Studios, that brings the Peter Parker of the comic books to the screen alongside MCU heroes for the first time.

Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

For producer and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, bringing the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an original way that film audiences have never seen before was a top priority. "Over the past 15 years, we have built the Marvel Cinematic Universe with so many characters and movies, and now we have the opportunity to introduce Peter Parker and the Spider-Man franchise into that universe for the first time," says Feige. "It's exciting because that's how he truly was in the comics, from the very beginning – he didn't enter the comics as the only hero; he entered a world in which Tony Stark, Captain America and the Avengers all were there. And now, for the first time, we get that in an entire film, which makes it fresh and new."

Producer Amy Pascal speaks to the unprecedented collaboration. "This movie is a product of Sony and Marvel working closely together," says Pascal. "It's a Sony movie and a Marvel production. Everyone came together and decided if we can put Spider-Man back in the MCU, which he always was a part of in the comics, everybody wins – and the biggest winner is the fans, as they finally get to see what they've been waiting a long time to see."

"Putting Spider-Man in the MCU is the best thing in the world for me as a storyteller," says director Jon Watts, who takes the helm of Spider-Man: Homecoming. "Not only did they take care of the origin story and heavy lifting in Captain America: Civil War – which they did so economically and beautifully – we also didn't have to spend any time explaining why this 16-year-old kid would come up with the idea of becoming a superhero. He's grown up in the MCU; when Peter Parker was eight years old, he saw Tony Stark say 'I am Iron Man' on TV. So the idea of this being a world where superheroes exist means that we don't have to spend any time addressing any of these issues. We just get right into the fun of it."

Spider-Man: Homecoming is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
