Coca-Cola Refreshes Train Ride at LRT-1 Central Station

Consistent with their history as the industry trailblazer, Coca-Cola is once again leading efforts to find new and innovative ways to refresh everyday life in Metro Manila.

Improvements at the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) continue to provide over 500,000 daily commuters with a refreshing experience. The waiting time has been significantly cut short, queues have diminished, and the train rides become faster.

The latest innovation brings the refreshing experience on a whole new level – the entire LRT-1 Central Station has been transformed into an experiential space by Coca-Cola. The various artwork, decals, and graphics provide a fresh and hip feel to an otherwise dreary train ride. The splash of red gives the Central Station and the train ride a jolt of excitement.

As a global company, Coca-Cola has always been at the forefront of innovation – may it be through the new products we introduce in the market up to the ways we connect with people, particularly teens, every day.  We are excited to have partnered with the Light Rail Manila Corporation in refreshing and reinventing the train ride experience of millions of Filipinos. We look forward to making the commute more fun and colorful for everyone here at Central Station,” said Stephan Czypionka, Coca-Cola Philippines Vice President for Marketing.

The posts supporting the elevated railway system have been painted in the trademark red color and the iconic bottles of the beverage company. Steps leading to the main ticket and station entrance have also transformed with the colorful graphics of Coca-Cola, while more improvements will be added in the coming months.

Aside from taking over the aesthetics of the Central Station, it will also become a platform for other fun surprising activities for the commuters.

Working and partnering with government is in the DNA of Coca-Cola. We have this term called ‘golden triangle’ wherein we emphasize on the need to partner with government and civic society to effect positive change. This project is more than just a marketing strategy. This is our way of helping provide a better commute for the passengers. We believe that whatever good you do to the community, is good for the business,” added Atty. Adel Tamano, Coca-Cola Philippines Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications.

Coca-Cola Philippines is the first to partner with LRT-1 operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) for the station rehabilitation program. Under the program, the LRMC can access other income sources that would help them improve the train system that spans 20 kilometers from Roosevelt Station in Quezon City to Baclaran Station in Paranaque City.

This station domination initiative involves private companies contributing to LRMC’s ongoing efforts to improve the structure and facilities of all LRT-1 stations. Coca-Cola is the first partner in this program. We are excited about the initiatives that Coca-Cola will bring to the Central Station in helping to better facilitate the riding experience of our passengers,” said Rogelio Singson, LRMC president and CEO.

TFC Earns Back-to-Back Wins for Global Campaigns at 15th Quill Awards

ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC), home of the most widely distributed premium and on demand channel and producer of Filipino content outside the Philippines, earned two nods from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) on July 5 at the Marriott Hotel in Manila for campaigns that address its global audience - its overseas voting campaign #Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH and virtual get-together for these Filipinos and their families, Kapamilya Reunion.

With the registration for the overseas voting in full swing, the government’s campaign gets a boost as TFC’s #Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH born out of a partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs Overseas Voting Secretariat (DFA OVS) and Commission on Elections Office for Overseas Voting (COMELEC OFOV) gets another nod from the PR industry by getting an Excellence award and vying for the over-all top five awards under the Corporate Social Responsibility category from this year’s Philippine Quill.

#Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH earned the judges’ nod for Communication Management and for inspiring Filipinos to capture the Philippines in photo at its current state and tell other global Filipinos how they can still paint a better picture, with the right vote.

#Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH among top five over-all winners for Communication Management

According to ABS-CBN Global Head of Corporate Affairs & PR Nerissa Fernandez: “The PR industry’s recognition of ABS-CBN TFC’s #Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH campaign affirms the value of our joint efforts with our government and community partners in reaching out to Filipinos worldwide and connecting them to the homeland through the most powerful means of involvement: the exercise of their right of suffrage. Through the power of media, this allowed them to have a voice in the political conversation and in building the future of our homeland”.

The campaign was launched in 2015 first to help the government agencies increase the number of registrants and sustained in 2016 to turn them into voters.  The campaign harnessed the power of social media to encourage Filipinos overseas to use the hashtag across all their social media accounts with the help of key influencers such as news personalities Atom Araullo, Julius Babao, Jing Castaneda, and Cathy Yang; entertainment reporters Gretchen Fulido, Tina Marasigan, Barbie Muhlach and Ginger Conejero; celebrities Pokwang, Dimples Romana, and Amy Perez; young celebrities Gretchen Ho, Ai dela Cruz, Nathan Lopez, and Joj and Jai Agpangan; music industry’s Morissette and Jamie Rivera; ABS-CBN Regional Network News Bureau reporters headed by Stanley Palisada; and radio personalities Amy Perez, DJs Jai Ho, DJ ChaCha China Paps, and anchor Ahwel Paz.

Yang, an award-winning broadcast journalist did not think twice about supporting the campaign. Yang said: “I was once an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) too - fifteen years. I know how it is to be an OF worker and overseas voter.  I voted and covered in Hong Kong so I played two roles.  There, I saw the sad and happy part of having a voice as a migrant worker.  I could say my experience was whole”. Yang covered the opening of the election precincts in HK in 2016.

At the end of the 2015 registration, total turnout was 1,376,067 or a 46.39% increase versus 815,307 in 2012 registration while the total number of voter turnout in 2016 was at 430,695 or almost 300% increase versus the 2013 elections with 118,823 voters.

According to DFA OVS Vice Chairman Ed Castro, media played a crucial role in the success of the OV in 2016.  “Media is an indispensable partner of public service. And it so happens that the DFA OVS serves the interest of the OFs. We politically empower them.  Therefore, TFC having the widest reach in network for overseas is a logical partner of the campaign.  Thank you very much to TFC’s partnership and others for all the help, we were able to set a record-breaking turnout for the 2016 national elections”.

COMELEC OFOV Chairman Atty. Arthur Lim adds: “The media, specifically TFC is broadcast all over the world which covers the 85 foreign posts of the Philippines.  The same helped a lot in propagating the OV act.  Considering that prior to the agreement with ABS-CBN or TFC, there were only 815,307 total number of registered overseas, the volume of applicant increased after August 26,2015 because of the information campaign conducted by the office and its partners”.

Kapamilya Reunion wins first Quill for Advertising, Marketing and Brand Communication

Meantime, Kapamilya Reunion, a virtual reunion that harnessed the power of technology to bring together overseas Filipinos and their families in the Philippines, earned its first Quill for Communication Management under the Advertising, Marketing and Brand category.

Launched first in 2015, Kapamilya Reunion brought the families together in one of the most memorable events in the lives of Filipinos - Christmas. Recreating the elements such as Christmas decors, Noche Buena and exchange gifts, the virtual reunion also was able to relive the Christmas feels that overseas participants miss back in the Philippines.

According to Ailene Averion, ABS-CBN Global Managing Director for Asia Pacific: “Kapamilya Reunion is one very memorable occasion where we momentarily managed to bridge the physical gap between overseas and their families here in the Philippines.  Even for a day, we at TFC, together with our content celebrities and Kapamilyas all over the world, were able to celebrate as one family during this important season of Christmas”.

According to Richard Aroboleda, Quill Awards Organizing Committee Chairman, out of the 724 entries, only 228 awardees passed the acid test. “Tonight’s winners are not just words on a document or a Powerpoint presentation. They have now metamorphosed into sterling examples of how communications when done right have lasting effects on the audiences they intend to touch. Just like the mighty quill which has throughout history, again, when used right, can become instruments not only to put words into paper but also to ignite positive change. We see these modern-day communications have the ability to do the same”, Arboleda ends.

In this year’s Philippine Quill Awards, TFC’s back-to-back wins contributed to ABS-CBN Corporation’s win as 1st runner-up in the Company of the Year category.

The Philippine Quill for Excellence was received for Fernandez by Global Corporate Affairs and PR Associate Marianne Ferrer - de Vera and PR Specialist Jocelyn Jimenez; DFA OVS Vice Chairman Edgardo Castro; Regional Finance Officer Lawrence Reyes; Marketing Communications Creative Director Jay Dustin Santiago; and one of the brand ambassadors, Cathy Yang.

Ian Veneracion Places His Trust Only to His Newfound Love - Ascof Lagundi

Heartthrob dad Ian Veneracion prefers Ascof Forte Menthol Syrup as his remedy for cough and bronchial asthma because of its “hagod-menthol” soothing effect, which gives quick relief from sore and itchy throat

At age 42, gentleman actor and reluctant heartthrob Ian Veneracion appears to be a star whose time has come. Although he started acting at the age of 5, Ian’s career took a long, circuitous route to leading man status, something he finally achieved when he was cast as a swoon-worthy hero in hit TV soaps.

Today he seems unstoppable, his career trajectory leading him to a place that much younger and more aggressive actors have yet to reach.

Ironically, it is from this enviable place that Ian now seeks balance even as he appreciates the perks of stardom. He has kept the debonair good looks that make fans - age 18 to 80 - swoon, yes, but the Gen X actor now finds fulfillment in matters that are more constant and stable, and less transitory.

This probably has much to do with being married to a loving wife and having three wonderful children. Veneracion readily affirms that there is always more to life than the glitz of show business.

Forty is like, you spent the first half of your life trying to learn who you want to be. You did stuff that you wanted to try out. At age 40, ‘yun ‘yung complete na - you know who you are, you know what’s right and wrong, you have your own values. For me, it’s just the start of the flight. When you reach this age, you know exactly where you’re coming from, where you’re at, and where you’re going.

Ian then gently asserts, “Life is my priority, not work.” This gives clarity to his life decisions. Like why maintaining a healthy lifestyle is of tremendous importance to him, and why he always makes sure that he is at his best and healthiest self.  With a broader understanding of himself, Ian has come to prioritize his health and wellbeing above anything else and has become more discerning of his life choices. That is why for his cough remedy, Ian places his trust only in Ascof Lagundi, especially now that the rainy season is here and respiratory ailments are very common.

Ascof Lagundi, the innovative and pioneering cough remedy in the Philippines, is made from 100 percent organically grown Lagundi leaves, making it a natural, safe, and effective relief for cough and bronchial asthma.

Ian says that it is for this reason that he immediately accepted the offer to become Ascof’s newest official endorser. “It’s something that I actually take. When my manager informed me that Ascof wanted to sign me up as its endorser, I said, ‘Perfect! Just last week I had Ascof Lagundi in my bag.’ I definitely believe in the product.”

The actor likewise shares that he takes Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol even during tapings and shoots, and encourages others like him to choose Ascof as the preferred option over chemical medicines and other similar natural remedies for cough.

You can trust Ascof Lagundi. It’s a natural remedy that you may take even at the onset of a cough, and when you are just starting to show its early symptoms. Hindi ka matatakot kasi safe siya,” he assures everyone.

Ian uses the variant Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol Syrup, either sugar-free or regular, because of its ‘hagod-menthol’ soothing effect on the throat. “There are other variants both for kids and adults, but my personal favorite is ASCOF Forte Menthol Sugar Free Syrup because it actually gives me instant relief from sore and itchy throat due to cough,” he explains.

Pascual Laboratories, the manufacturer of Ascof Lagundi, has its own lagundi farm in Nueva Ecija that uses a GMP-certified production process to cultivate the traditional herbal plant. Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol is a product of scientific research and clinical studies.

Ian considers Ascof Lagundi as his newfound love since it is always there when he needs it most. “Getting enough sleep and eating properly are important to keep your body healthy. Pero kapag tinamaan kayo ng cough, of course you should take Ascof Lagundi.”

For inquiries and more details about Ascof Lagundi Forte Menthol Syrup, visit their official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ASCOFLagundi or their official website at http://www.pascuallab.com/index.php/ascof.

OPM Icon Ogie Alcasid Soars High with First, Momentous Kapamilya Album Called “NakakaLokal”

After his refreshing return to ABS-CBN last year, OPM icon Ogie Alcasid makes another soaring move as a Kapamilya as he launches his debut album under Star Music, “NakakaLokal,” a first-of-its-kind musical collaboration with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra.

This is the first joint project of the premiere ensemble with a solo artist in an album, a history-in-the-making in the local music industry. The symphonic music of the orchestra, led by its music director Gerard Salonga, complements Ogie’s latest offering to his fans and those eagerly awaiting the newest OPM pieces to hit the radio.

"A song always sounds best when it's with the orchestra as there are a lot of things you can’t do with a software that the orchestra can deliver. One of my biggest dreams was to work with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra and it was a blessing they said yes," Ogie shared.

The award-winning artist’s new collection has 10 tracks, 6 of which are original compositions including “Nakakalokal,” “Ikaw ang Tanging Pag-ibig Ko,” “Akala Ko,” “Di Na Muli,” “Di Ka Pababayaan,” and “Do You Wanna Dance With Me.”

He is most excited about the song “Nakakalokal” which has been chosen as the official theme song of this year’s songwriting competition, Himig Handog PPop Love Songs.

It has brasses, with the horn section, with guitar and strings. It proudly showcases Pinoy music at its best,” Ogie revealed.

In addition to his new songs, Ogie has a medley with his wife, another OPM icon and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez. These include classic hits “Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw,” “Pangako” and “Hanggang Ngayon.”

The singer-host-actor also has three cover songs in this highly anticipated album. These include “Kailangan Kita,” the theme song of Star Cinema’s film with the same title starring Claudine Barretto and Aga Muhlach; “Ikaw ang Aking Pangarap” from the top-rating ABS-CBN teleserye “Lobo” starring Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual; and “Ikaw Lamang,” the theme song of the film “Dubai,” also from Star Cinema starring John Lloyd Cruz, Claudine and Aga.

The multi-awarded artist has released more than 20 albums in the past with gold, platinum and double platinum feats, highly contributing to the local music scene with his original compositions, well-loved and timeless love songs, and unforgettable performances.

His first Star Music album is produced by Jonathan Manalo. It is out now on digital stores worldwide and is available at all record bars nationwide for only P350.

Watch the Spectacular First 6 Minutes of the Movie "Baby Driver"

Columbia Pictures has just released the six-minute Baby Driver opening scene online which encapsulates the acclaimed film's energetic spirit and cool vibe.

Check out the scene at https://youtu.be/6XMuUVw7TOM and watch Baby Driver in Philippine cinemas on August 02, 2017.

The movie is structured so it opens with the dream of being a getaway driver, and very quickly turns into the nightmare of being a criminal,” says director and screenwriter Edgar Wright. “The opening chase is sort of positioned as a clockwork act of precision. Everything goes right. Then very quickly, with subsequent situations, things start to go wrong, and very visceral consequences start to bear down. The storm clouds have been gathering during the movie. At some point, Baby’s luck is gonna run out.”

In the film, a talented, young getaway driver named Baby (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Full of reversals, rewinds, fast forwards and heart-stopping skips, and inspired by the types of crime-and-chase movies that have thrilled moviegoers since Steve McQueen in a revved-up Mustang changed car pursuits forever, Baby Driver is a game-changing, lane-changing, hard-charging blast only Wright could have dreamed up.

Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), Kevin Spacey (“House of Cards”), Lily James (Cinderella), Jon Bernthal (“The Walking Dead”), Eiza Gonzalez (“From Dusk til Dawn”), with Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) and Jamie Foxx (Sleepless).

Opening in Philippine cinemas in August 2, 2017, Baby Driver is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Production Begins on Clint Eastwood's "The The 15:17 to Paris" Feat. Bright Young Stars and Genuine Heroes

Production is underway this week on Clint Eastwood’s “The 15:17 to Paris.” The film tells the real-life story of three men whose brave act turned them into heroes during a highspeed railway ride.

In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris—an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. “The 15:17 to Paris” follows the course of the friends’ lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, their friendship never wavers, making it their greatest weapon and allowing them to save the lives of the more than 500 passengers on board.

The heroic trio is comprised of Anthony Sadler, Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, and U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Spencer Stone, who play themselves in the film. Starring alongside them are Jenna Fischer (“Hall Pass,” TV’s “The Office”); Judy Greer (“War for the Planet of the Apes”); and Ray Corasani (TV’s upcoming “The Long Road Home”). Paul-Mikél Williams plays the younger Anthony; Max Ivutin and Bryce Gheisar each play younger versions of Alek; and Cole Eichenberger and William Jennings take on the role of the younger Spencer‬.

Eastwood (“Sully,” “American Sniper”) directs from a screenplay by Dorothy Blyskal, based on the book The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes by Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Jeffrey E. Stern. Eastwood also produces the film, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier. The film’s executive producer is Bruce Berman.

Behind the scenes, the creative team includes frequent collaborators Tom Stern, who served as cinematographer on 13 of Eastwood’s previous films; Deborah Hopper, who has served as Eastwood’s costume designer on 17 prior films; and Blu Murray, who most recently cut “Sully.” Veteran art director Kevin Ishioka, whose work can be seen in “Sully” and in this month’s “Dunkirk,” serves as production designer.

The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Celebrity Couple Richard Poon and Maricar Reyes Reveal Common Couple Woes in New Book 10 THINGS WE FIGHT ABOUT

Four years into their marriage, celebrity couple Richard and Maricar Reyes-Poon have discovered noteworthy ways to deal with common relationship battles and have decided to share these in their first book, “10 Things We Fight About” by ABS-CBN Publishing.

The book started as an idea from our blogs. To write about something real, something close to our hearts. And one of those things are those conflicts we go through,” shared Maricar.

Readers will delight in learning more about the experiences the actress and the crooner have gone through as they continuously strive to maintain a happy married life despite the usual scuffles. In the book, the couple cited lending money to others, false accusations and insecurities, criticism and fake apologies as among those causing squabble.

What makes this book interesting is that they’ll get a glimpse of the Poon and Reyes home, how we were raised and how different we are from each other,” disclosed Richard.

It basically answers the question, what happens after saying, “I do,” said Maricar.

The couple’s book also comes with reflections and lessons that can help those young, married couples in understanding their partner better and settling a lover’s quarrel.

“10 Things We Fight About” is the latest addition in ABS-CBN Publishing’s line of bestselling consumer books. Richard and Maricar join an elite roster of celebrity authors that includes Alex Gonzaga, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heussaff and Ramon Bautista.

The couple formally introduced their latest project in a book launch held in National Book Store, Glorietta in Makati City last July 16.

The Poons’ “10 Things We Fight About” is available in leading newsstands and bookstores nationwide for P225.

Look: "Dunkirk" Officila IMAX Poster, Harry Styles Marks Acting Debut

Warner Bros. Pictures has just revealed the IMAX one-sheet art for Christopher Nolan's new epic action thriller Dunkirk, which was shot with IMAX film cameras.

Check out the IMAX exclusive poster below and watch Dunkirk in Philippne cinemas on Juy 20, 2017 with special engagements in IMAX 70mm film.

Nolan (Interstellar, Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy) directs Dunkirk from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 65mm film to bring the story to the screen.

Harry Styles Marks Acting Debut

As one of the members of the global phenomenon One Direction, Harry Styles became one of the best-known musicians in the world. Now, he makes his feature film acting debut in Christopher Nolan's new epic action thriller Dunkirk (in Philippine cinemas July 20).

Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea, they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.

The story unfolds on land, sea and air. RAF Spitfires engage the enemy in the skies above the Channel, trying to protect the defenseless men below. Meanwhile, hundreds of small boats manned by both military and civilians are mounting a desperate rescue effort, risking their lives in a race against time to save even a fraction of their army.

In the film, Styles plays Alex, a young soldier whom the actor describes as “seems nice, but there’s also this edge to him. He comes off a little more hardened than the other guys. Alex likes the idea of being the tough guy, but he’s also really scared.”

Styles talks more about Dunkirk and his experience filming it in the following interview:

Question: What can you tell us about your character and where he fits into the story of Dunkirk?
Harry Styles: I play a soldier called Alex, and he and Fionn Whitehead’s character, Tom Glynn-Carney's, pretty much stick together through most of the film. These guys are really just given a gun and some boots and thrown into this dangerous situation, and they have no idea what they’re doing or how they’re going to get out of it alive. So, it’s just: ‘All right, we’re on the same side, so we’re going to help each other out of this.’

Our part of the film is just a straight survival story, and what really sticks with me is the idea that when you’re a soldier – especially in a situation as intense and chaotic as this – it doesn’t matter what the guy next to you does or if you even know his name, if he’s wearing the same uniform as you, you’re a team. It’s you and him, and you’re going to get through this together – and that says a lot, actually. It might be flowery BS, but it’s just pure camaraderie.

Q: What was it like meeting writer/director Christopher Nolan for the first time, and what impressed you the most about working with him?

HS: When you meet him and spend a little time with him, especially on set, you understand why he takes so much time between films: he invests so much in every project he does. He doesn’t just churn them out; I think he would rather wait and know everything there is to know about what he’s going to do, and if he’s going to do it justice in a film. He has researched everything about Dunkirk to the nth degree – from the costumes, to hair and make-up, to lighting. Everyone, even people who have done their jobs for 20 years, all said that they learn something from him on every film.

Q: How did it feel when you first arrived on the set and saw the scope of the production?
HS: It was definitely bigger than you expect, but the best part about it was that even when all of this was going on around you, as soon as you started filming, it always felt like it was just you and Chris and the camera. I think he’s amazing at making you feel comfortable on set in a way that doesn’t stress you out.

Q: What was the toughest aspect of the shoot?
HS: It felt like someone pulled you out of the bed, dumped you in the water, and then put you back in bed. But those were good days. Those were the ones that you’d get back from afterwards and everyone feels like [whistles], ‘That was a big day’.

Q: How much did you know about the events at Dunkirk prior to becoming involved in this project?
HS: When you’re at school, learning about history and World War II, Dunkirk is not as emphasized as some of the big battles, but it’s actually an incredibly important moment in the war. The world might be very different if things hadn’t gone the way they did.

Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.

The film features a prestigious cast, including Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and Cillian Murphy as well as newcomer Fionn Whitehead. The ensemble cast also includes Aneurin Barnard, Harry Styles, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden, Barry Keoghan and Tom Glynn-Carney.

Dunkirk is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Knowledge Channel Airs Student-Made Documentaries Entitled “Class Project”

Viewers can take inspiration from real-life stories that tackle social issues while sharing hope found in different settings on Knowledge Channel’s “Class Project.”

“Class Project” features documentaries produced and created by college students, starting with projects by the students at Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

Among the documentaries to be aired are “Tahan Na,” about the orphans of SOS Children’s Village. The SOS Children’s Villages is a private, non-political, non-denominational organization that provides long-term family-based care to children in need, and “Tahan Na” tells the story of some of its residents.  The documentary depicts how the orphaned children have found their permanent home in the village, with their fellow orphans becoming family and the house mothers becoming their own surrogate mothers.

Other documentaries include “Triple Kayod,” which follows a father juggling three different jobs to support his family, and “Haligi,” which features a father and son as they ride through the streets of Manila in their pedicab.

According to Danie Sedilla-Cruz, channel head of Knowledge Channel, the project aims to give the spotlight to relevant social issues while giving a platform to student producers and content creators who come up with high-quality content for broadcast. The partnership with Colegio de San Juan de Letran will be the first in a series of tie-ups with different schools.

As the title already implies, there are so many class projects like documentaries, especially by communication students, that are well-produced and should be shared,” says Sedilla-Cruz.

The project aims to give students at the collegiate level opportunities to showcase their work while making use of Knowledge Channel’s platform of educational television. The series will be airing student-made documentaries throughout the coming school year.

Watch the “Class Project” documentaries every Friday at 7:30 pm on Knowledge Channel.

Founded in 1999, Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. is the only non-profit organization in the Philippines that offers curriculum-based, multimedia educational resources, and professional teacher trainings to improve teaching skills, thereby helping audiences learn better through technology.
