GMA Network Receives Diamond Creator Award for Reaching 10 Million YouTube Subscribers

Leading media conglomerate GMA Network celebrates another milestone as the GMA Entertainment channel recently surpassed 10 million subscribers on YouTube, thus joining an elite group of content creators in Southeast Asia that have also achieved such a feat.

With this accomplishment, the Network formally received on July 23 the Diamond Creator Award, a recognition given by YouTube to content creators that have reached 10 million subscribers. Present in the ceremonial turnover were GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon; President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr.; Executive Committee Vice Chairman Joel G. Jimenez; Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe S. Yalong; GMA New Media, Inc. (NMI) President and COO Judd Gallares; and GMA NMI Senior Vice President and General Manager Dennis Caharian. The Diamond Play Button was awarded by YouTube's Southeast Asia Director of Content Partnerships and Business Development Vishal Sarin, and Content Partnerships Philippines Country Lead Pablo Mendoza.

Through NMI, the Network's technology arm, GMA forged a partnership with YouTube dubbed the YouTube Player for Publishers ("YT PfP") in mid-2017 that has enabled viewers everywhere to watch official, full episodes of GMA programs online. The partnership not only supports the anti-piracy efforts of GMA Network, but more significantly addresses the millennial video viewing habits that demand access to premium content when they want, wherever they may be. The YT PfP partnership was an enabler for GMA as it aided strategy for boosting YouTube views and hastening the acquisition of subscribers. It also allowed for a more robust content archive that used to only house show highlights, recaps, behind-the-scene videos, among others.

From only 1.6 million subscribers at the start of the YT PfP agreement in June 2017, this soared past 10 million in May this year. As of December 2018, the GMA Network YouTube channel's rank improved from being in the Top 200 in 2017 to being among the Top 50 worldwide.

"We are very gratified that GMA has reached quite an achievement and it is translated into about four times growth [in watch time] year-on-year so that's enough reason for us to be really happy. This is the work of many people and they are all here as we receive this Diamond Creator Award," said Gozon.

Meanwhile, YouTube's Sarin said, "We congratulate GMA for growing their channel to more than 10 million subscribers. This is a great milestone as there are only five media networks in Southeast Asia that have received the Diamond Creator Award and GMA is one of them."

Of the achievement, Gallares shared, "Our mandate is to lead GMA's transformation from a media and entertainment giant into a dominant multi-platform content provider worldwide. YouTube has in recent years been a strategic ally in this regard, as it has not only helped us expand GMA's online footprint but it has also been key to building preference for the GMA brand. This recognition affirms that we are on track."

Caharian further added that they were just showcasing the output of GMA Entertainment and how they help in making sure that their content can also be discovered online. "At the end of the day, what attracts a lot of viewers is still the quality of the content, so congratulations to GMA Entertainment. We'd also like to thank the viewers for their support, and we'd like them to know that many projects are in the pipeline for more viewing fun."

Since its launch in November 2006, the GMA Entertainment channel now has 11.8 billion lifetime views. Total subscribers are currently at 11.1 million, a million more in a span of less than three months.

Other Kapuso YouTube channels include GMA News for daily video clips from the Network's news programs, now with 4.1 million subscribers; GMA Public Affairs for documentaries, docudrama, and news magazine shows, now with 6.1 million subscribers; GMA Playlist for heartfelt song renditions from various Kapuso stars; GMA Playground for some of the Network's child-friendly programs; and GMA Regional TV for the top stories from the regions.

Miguel Tanfelix Renews Exclusive Contract with GMA Network

Sought-after Kapuso actor Miguel Tanfelix remains a loyal Kapuso as he renewed his exclusive contract with GMA Network, Inc. last July 23.

Miguel shared that he is committed to reciprocate the immense trust that GMA has always given him through the years, "Papunta dito kinakabahan ako kasi alam ko ang responsibilities na bubuhatin ko po, and handa naman akong harapin lahat 'yun. Of course, I'm very happy and very blessed na nandito pa rin ako for more years sa GMA. Makakaasa po sila na more than a hundred percent effort and puso ang ibibigay ko sa lahat ng blessings na ibibigay nila sa akin."

From his breakthrough performance as Niño in the top-rating primetime soap of the same title where he starred as an inspiring boy with mental incapacities to his outstanding role as Diego in the hit series Kambal, Karibal where he won Best Actor in a Leading Role from the 1st Asian Academy Creative Awards – Miguel is proving his stature in the entertainment industry. At present, he is one of the lead stars of GMA's epic drama series Sahaya.

"Gusto ko pong mag-explore ng ibang roles, pwedeng maging bida-kontrabia, gusto ko rin po ng action. Ngayon, nagwo-workshop po ako para ma-expand 'yung mga kaya ko pang gawin, para mas maging versatile ako at kahit ano po ang ibigay sa akin magagampanan ko po ng maayos."

Present in the contract signing were GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie Acuña Magno, and GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara.

During the contract signing held at the Boardroom of GMA Network, Atty. Gozon expressed his admiration over the actor's loyalty towards the Kapuso Network, "Tayo'y parang naging tatay na ni Miguel and we are very glad na he is staying with us at habang tumatanda si Miguel ay gumagaling na artista. Hindi lamang iyon, gumagwapo pa kaya talagang nagagalak tayo na Kapuso pa siya hanggang ngayon."

Rasonable, in turn, shared her appreciation of the young actor's professionalism and undeniable passion for his craft, "He started at five-years-old at hanggang ngayon nandito pa sa atin. Talagang homegrown 'yan. Sa totoo lang, napaka-professional ng batang iyan, madaling katrabaho at higit sa lahat napakahusay umarte. Isa siya sa mga talagang hinahangaan natin na mga kabataan na napakagaling mag-tackle ng kaniyang roles and very serious about his craft. Siguro nga bilang artist gusto niyang mag-explore ng iba't ibang klaseng characters at isa nga doon na very challenging siguro for him would be a bida-kontrabida role. Maybe in the future that can be explored but we have many plans for him, many more lead roles in big projects na dapat abangan."

LJ Reyes Launches MAPP, The Smart Mommy App

They say two heads are better than one - and when it comes to motherhood, it seems
highly applicable.

This is why MAPP The Smart Mommy App Co-Founders LJ Reyes and Trix Clasara
decided to merge their ideas instead of competing against each other, to form one
super app with the end goal of helping other moms with conquering motherhood with
a tap!

But their story is not as common.

In fact, up until early 2018, LJ and Trix didn't even know one another except for the fact
that they knew each one had their own mom-friendly app.

In 2015, three months into becoming a new mom, Trix created Mommily - a mobile app
that helped moms find baby-friendly places in the city out of a personal need to go
around town with kids in tow. It went live on Mother's Day of 2015.

A year later, LJ, a seasoned actress and well known celebrity, was trying to find
practical ways to spend time with her son Aki now that he is growing up and needing
more activities to do outside the home. In September 2016, LJ launched the very first
version of MApp-The Smart Mommy App, a mobile app that listed kid-related products
and places to go to in the city.

And in October 2017, their paths crossed
Trix was on the verge of selling Mommily and its shares since she and her family have
moved out of the city and she felt it would be nearly impossible to operate the business
outside of Manila. Her first instinct? Sell it to her main competitor, LJ of MApp.

At the very first meeting, these two mompreneurs knew right away that nothing was going to get sold, and no one is buying. Instead, they decided to merge their mobile
apps to make one bigger, better mom and baby friendly app that every mom will
benefit from Apart from loving motherhood, LJ, now with two kids. Aki and Summer and Trix, also with two kids Illy and Aman, are both passionate about making motherhood accessible to ALL moms.

They want to advocate families spending time together outside the home not only
as offen as they can but with the least stress possible - which is why clean lines and user
friendly Ul were paramount in designing MApp.

They believe that this platform will not only help moms get around the city with ease but
that it will create a significant pulse in changing the way malls and establishments lay out their floor plans -making sure they provide ample facilities for moms and all parents especially those with young children.

MApp will be available to download for FREE on iOS and Android starting July 13.
