“Star Wars” Hero Oscar Isaac Spooks as Gomez in “The Addams Family”

Popularly known as the Resistance pilot 'Poe Dameron' in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Oscar Isaac now provides the voice of Gomez, the patriarch of The Addams Family, first animated comedy about the kookiest family on the block.

Debonair, charismatic and mischievous, Gomez Addams is dedicated to his children, madly in love with his wife Morticia – and also just plain mad. His favorite ways to relax are a tightened clamp set on his temple, and a vigorous round of ninja-level swordplay.

Like most people, Isaac was familiar with the classic "Family Addams" TV shows and films, but had a more personal connection. "Raul Julia was one of my favorite actors, and to see him play Gomez with such relish definitely made an impression on me when I was young," says Isaac. "To get to play that role as an homage to him has been really special."

With so many Addams Family projects, directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan strove to differentiate their characters from previous iterations, from their voices to their storylines. "We wanted everyone to try to come up with their own version of these characters," says Vernon.

Gomez got the strongest revamp, thanks to the original cartoons. "In all the other iterations, Gomez was a fit, thin, kind of dashing, handsome man and in the cartoons, he was never portrayed that way," says Tiernan. "We're not portraying him as a schlub — he dresses well, he has panache and style, but he's shorter than Morticia. He's got that plastic-comb moustache and the strange hair. So, he is a little stranger looking in our version, because that's the way he was in the cartoons."

"What I loved about the original drawings is that there was always this funny way of throwing the family man on his head, you know?" says Isaac. "Gomez is a very passionate, romantic character filled with a lot of bombast and big declarations, so it's really fun to just attack that kind of energy. But ultimately, he's a real family man and that's just been really fun to embody. I love also portraying a man that large that is also so nimble."

A father himself, Isaac counts his young son amongst the new Addams Family audience. "I'm excited to get to share this with him," says Isaac. "I think it's just going to not only bring in the fans of the original but also make a lot of new ones."

In Philippine cinemas October 30The Addams Family is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

Music: Kyle Echarri and Singaporean Artist Haven Launch Collab Single “Imagine”

Multi-talented artist Kyle Echarri embarks on yet another electrifying adventure as he creates beautiful music with Singaporean singer-songwriter Haven for a new track titled "Imagine."

Kyle's team-up with his fellow 16-year-old artist breaks new ground as it is the first international collaboration between StarPOP Philippines, Academy of Rock Singapore, and Cornerstone Music.

"The song 'Imagine' talks about two total strangers who live different lives but have a certain connection. The concept actually is that Haven is from Singapore, Kyle is from the Philippines, so it's like they're from different places and haven't met each other yet but they have a message that they want to convey to each other," StarPOP head Rox Santos explained.

"I really, really liked the story that's why when I did it, I was ecstatic about it and how the finished track turned out to be," Kyle added.

The song, composed by Star Music artist Trisha Denise and StarPOP head Rox Santos, complements Kyle's pop-infused sound and Haven's distinct, dreamy style of singing.

Singaporean musician and vocalist Haven started out as a student of Academy of Rock. She joined her first singing competition when she was 13, where she finished third. This, along with the help of the Academy of Rock, propelled her to continue performing at various events like the Singapore Street Festival.

"I want to be an artist that everyone can relate to. I want everyone to be very comfortable with my music, I don't want them to feel intimidated so 'haven' means safe place," shared Haven on the meaning behind her name.

The exciting collaboration also comes after Kyle released his "Pangako" single last year and his breakthrough in acting as "Kristoff" in the top-rating Kapamilya teleserye "Kadenang Ginto."

The StarPOP artist, who joined "The Voice Kids" in 2015, is now one of the Kapamilya artists bridging the gap between the local and international music scene as ABS-CBN continues its campaign to introduce the talent of Filipinos to the world stage.

Listen to Kyle and Haven's song "Imagine" on digital streaming services and check out its music video on MYX and Star Music's YouTube channel. For more details, like StarPOP PH on facebook.com/starpopph, and follow it on and Instagram @starpopph.

Showbiz: Kathryn Bernardo Says Daniel Padilla's Love Made the Success of "Hello, Love, Goodbye" Possible

Through a long Instagram post, Kathryn Bernardo expressed her love and gratitude to boyfriend Daniel Padilla, whom she said is the very reason behind the success of her recent Star Cinema movie "Hello, Love, Goodbye" opposite Kapuso actor Alden Richards.

Read her Instagram post below:

View this post on Instagram

So I just came from our thanksgiving party and was finally able to thank the many people who were instrumental to the success of #HelloLoveGoodbye (you guys know who you are). However, there is one person I wasn’t able to mention—and he deserves this ENTIRE post. This person was not only my source of inspiration while I was filming the movie. He was my support system, my rock, my strength. We were hundreds of miles away from each other but not once did he make me feel alone. There were times I almost gave up—I felt exhausted, drained, and too lonely as I was too immersed in the character of Joy. It was one of the hardest things I’ve experienced both on and off cam. But this guy, he kept me going. These are just some of the photos we sent each other every day—just random silly selfies, but they kept me going. I had a pillow with his t-shirt and scent on, which I hugged every night and every time I felt like crying. I know it sounds a bit childish, but that also kept me going. DJ, my love, YOU KEPT ME GOING. Since day one, you were my biggest supporter and my number one cheerleader. I know how hard it was for you to let go of my hand, but despite that you still allowed me to fly.😢 You know how scared I was being away from you too, but you stayed strong for the both of us. You kept reminding me, “Kaya mo yan, mahal. Konti nalang!” You never gave up, you never gave me a reason to doubt myself or us. So to be honest, “thank you” is not enough to cover everything I feel—because it was your love that made all of this possible. I hope I made you proud, my love. I couldn’t have done this without you by my side. 🥺 Your success is mine; my success is yours. ❤️

Lifestyle: Bantay Bata 163 Gives Rescued Children Edication and Hope

Twelve year old Arnil Castillo and three siblings faced the most tragic of fates. A month after being abandoned by their mother, their own father passed away. Left with no one to care for them, the siblings were brought by local government officials to the Quezon City Social Service Development Department. They were then transferred to the Bantay Bata 163 Children's Village in Bulacan.

It was in their newfound home that the children began to pick up the pieces of their lives as they began engaging in the village's activities. But Arnil only had one primary concern:

"Kung mag-aaral po ba ako dito o hindi… Kailangan ko pong mag-aral para po kapag nakapagtapos po ako, hahanapin po namin si Mama," said Castillo.

Arnil is only one of 39 children at the village who dream of receiving proper education. This is why Bantay Bata 163, whose pillars include a program called Bantay Edukasyon, is actively in search of scholarship grants.

In order to provide the children with a normal education, Bantay Bata 163 finds sponsors and donors to support their studies, a holistic grant not only covers their tuition expenses but alsotheir school supplies, daily food and transportation allowances, and other fees.

Bantay Bata 163 introduced the Bantay Edukasyon program in 1998 as an aftercare service for rescued children but it has since provided 6,400 scholarships all over the country.

The upcoming ABS-CBN Ball has committed to support Bantay Bata's Bantay Eduaksyon program. In 2018, the ball helped re-open the Bantay Bata 163 Children's Village.

Bantay Bata 163's founder, the late Gina Lopez, believed that as long as there are generous people, more children can have a better future.
